Taxi service in Delhi: what a cab costs in 2026
A compact sedan taxi in Delhi costs Rs 3,960 Pay Now to Reserve for an IGI airport transfer of up to 40 km, Rs 4,320 Pay Now to Reserve for 4 hours/40 km and Rs 7,200 Pay Now to Reserve for 8 hours/80 km. Outstation cabs run at Rs 36/km (sedan) or Rs 57.6/km (Innova Crysta). Fares are before 5% GST; tolls, permits and parking are extra at actual cost.
RutzIndia.com runs a chauffeur-driven taxi service in Delhi for the three jobs most people actually need: getting to or from Indira Gandhi International Airport, keeping a car and driver for a working day across the capital and the NCR, and heading out of the city on the highways to Agra, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Haridwar or the Himalaya. Every booking is a private car with a professional driver, not a shared ride, and the fare you see in the online booker is the fare you pay, plus tax and the pass-through items listed below.
Our Delhi rates use the base city multiplier (1.00), so what you read here is exactly the national rate card on the fares page. The table below covers the vehicles Delhi customers book most often.
| Car (seats) | Airport transfer, up to 40 km | 4 hr / 40 km | 8 hr / 80 km | Outstation per km |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Compact sedan - Dzire, Amaze, Aura (4) | Rs 3,960 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 4,320 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 7,200 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 36 |
| MUV - Ertiga, Carens (6) | Rs 4,950 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 5,400 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 9,000 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 42 |
| Premium sedan - City, Verna, Camry (4) | Rs 5,940 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 6,480 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 10,800 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 48 |
| Innova Crysta / Hycross (6) | Rs 6,930 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 7,560 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 12,600 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 57.6 |
| Tempo Traveller 12-26 seat (16 typical) | Rs 10,740 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 11,700 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 78 |
| Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5, Audi A6 (3) | Rs 20,640 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 22,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 37,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 170 |
All figures are in rupees before 5% GST. Toll plazas, interstate permits and parking are billed at the actual receipt amount. On outstation round trips we bill a minimum of 250 km per calendar day, and multi-day journeys add a driver night allowance of Rs 1,500 per night.

Delhi airport taxi: IGI terminals, distances and waiting time
Indira Gandhi International Airport has two passenger terminals in use for most travellers: Terminal 3 for international and many domestic flights, and Terminal 1 for a large share of low-cost domestic departures. Check the terminal on your boarding pass or on the official Delhi airport site before you book, because the drive between T1 and T3 alone can take 15-20 minutes when the airport roads are busy.
For arrivals, the chauffeur tracks your flight number, stands at the arrivals exit with a name board and waits 60 minutes free after an international landing or 30 minutes after a domestic one. Immigration queues at T3 can be long at night when several Gulf and European flights land together, and that hour of grace usually covers it. Beyond the free window, waiting is charged at the hourly package rate, and we message you before it starts.
The flat airport fare covers any pickup or drop within 40 km of the terminal, which takes in almost all of Delhi and most of Gurgaon. Typical distances and off-peak drive times from T3:
| Area | Distance from T3 (about) | Typical drive, off-peak |
|---|---|---|
| Aerocity hotels | 3 km | 10 min |
| Dwarka / Vasant Kunj | 8-10 km | 20 min |
| Chanakyapuri, Diplomatic Enclave | 13 km | 25 min |
| Connaught Place, Janpath | 16 km | 35 min |
| Gurgaon Cyber City, Golf Course Road | 15-20 km | 30-40 min |
| South Extension, Lajpat Nagar | 17-19 km | 40 min |
| Karol Bagh, Paharganj (New Delhi station) | 18 km | 40 min |
| Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi | 22 km | 50 min |
| Noida Sector 18, Faridabad | 35 km | 60-75 min |
Longer transfers, such as Greater Noida, Sonipat or the new Noida International Airport at Jewar, are priced on distance in the booker. For a deeper look at terminal meeting points and late-night arrivals, see our dedicated Delhi airport taxi page, and for the national product see airport taxi service.
Car on rent in Delhi for local use: 4 hr and 8 hr hire
The local packages are the most flexible way to use a cab service in Delhi when you have several stops. A 4 hr/40 km slot fits a hospital appointment and a pharmacy run, an embassy visa interview at Chanakyapuri followed by lunch, or a quick shopping loop through Khan Market and Lodhi Road. The 8 hr/80 km day suits sightseeing, back-to-back client meetings between Nehru Place, Connaught Place and Cyber City, or a family function in West Delhi that runs longer than planned.
The clock starts when the car reaches your pickup and stops when it drops you back; kilometres are counted from the same points, not from a distant garage. If the day runs over, extra hours and kilometres are billed at the rates shown in the booker before you confirm, and you can extend by telling the driver or messaging the desk. Parking at malls, monuments and hotels is paid on actuals.
A classic one-day Delhi sightseeing plan in an 8 hr/80 km sedan (Rs 7,200 Pay Now to Reserve before tax) looks like this:
- Red Fort and a rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk (the bazaar lanes are closed to cars, so the driver waits at the edge).
- Raj Ghat and a drive past India Gate and Kartavya Path.
- Lunch at Connaught Place or Khan Market.
- Humayun's Tomb, then Qutub Minar in Mehrauli.
- Lotus Temple or Akshardham in the evening, depending on the day of the week.
Monument opening days and ticket rules change, so check the Delhi Tourism site the night before. If you need the same car and driver for a week or a month, car rental with driver in Delhi explains the multi-day and monthly options, and local car rental 8 hr/80 km covers the package rules nationwide.

Outstation cabs from Delhi: one way and round trip fares
Delhi is the starting point for more of our routes than any other city. The per-km rate does not change with the city multiplier, so a sedan is Rs 36/km and an Innova Crysta Rs 57.6/km on every road out of the capital. One-way fares below are distance multiplied by rate; round trips are billed on whichever is higher, twice the one-way distance or 250 km for each calendar day.
Worked examples help. A same-day Delhi-Agra-Delhi trip for the Taj Mahal is 466 km, so a sedan costs 466 x Rs 36 = Rs 16,780 Pay Now to Reserve and an Innova Crysta 466 x Rs 57.6 = Rs 26,560 Pay Now to Reserve, before GST and the Yamuna Expressway toll. A three-day Delhi-Manali round trip counts 1,080 km (twice 540, which beats the 750 km daily minimum), so a sedan is Rs 38,880 plus two driver night allowances. A weekend in Jaipur over two calendar days bills 560 km, or Rs 31,920 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova. For the national picture, see outstation cabs and one way taxi.
Cars leaving Delhi for Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal or Uttarakhand pay state entry tax or permit fees at the border; those are passed through at actual cost with the receipt. Highway tolls are collected by FASTag, and the NHAI site lists plaza locations if you want to estimate them in advance.
Neighbourhoods and NCR towns we cover
Pickups work from any address in the National Capital Territory, from the embassies of Chanakyapuri and the bungalows of Lutyens' Delhi to the housing societies of Dwarka, Rohini and Mayur Vihar. Business travellers mostly start at Aerocity, Connaught Place, Nehru Place, Saket and Jasola; families tend to book from Greater Kailash, Punjabi Bagh, Janakpuri and Pitampura. Railway pickups at New Delhi (Paharganj and Ajmeri Gate sides), Hazrat Nizamuddin and Anand Vihar are routine, and the chauffeur meets you at the platform exit if you share the coach number.
Across the borders, Gurgaon and Noida have their own pages because their traffic and office patterns are different: see taxi service in Gurgaon and taxi service in Noida. Faridabad and Ghaziabad are served from Delhi at the same rates.

Delhi traffic, seasons and festival peaks
Delhi roads have a rhythm, and a good chauffeur plans around it. Weekday rush runs roughly 8.30-11 am and 5.30-9 pm, with the Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, Dhaula Kuan and the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway at Rajokri the worst pinch points. The Delhi Traffic Police publishes advisories for VIP movements, marches and road closures, which matter most in central Delhi.
Seasonal points worth knowing:
- Late January: Republic Day rehearsals and the parade close large parts of Kartavya Path and the India Gate area for days; plan central Delhi pickups early.
- December to February: dense fog delays early-morning flights and slows the expressways to Agra and Chandigarh. We track your flight, and on fog days we suggest starting highway drives after sunrise.
- November to February: the North Indian wedding season. Baraat processions block colony roads in the evening and farmhouse venues on Chhattarpur and MG Road fill up, so book wedding transport early through our wedding car rental in Delhi page.
- Diwali, Holi and Chhath: demand for outstation cabs spikes as people head home to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab; book five to seven days ahead.
- Winter smog alerts: when pollution controls restrict older diesel vehicles in the NCR, our fleet is unaffected because every car is within four model years and meets current emission norms.
Summer heat from May to June makes air-conditioning the most important feature of any car, and every vehicle we assign is checked for a working AC before dispatch.
Group, wedding and luxury cars in Delhi
For groups of 10 to 26 people, a Tempo Traveller is cheaper per head than three sedans and keeps everyone together; it is the standard choice for Char Dham groups leaving from Delhi, office outings and family trips to Vrindavan. Our tempo traveller in Delhi page lists seat layouts and route fares, and the Innova Crysta on rent in Delhi page covers the six-seat workhorse most families choose.
When the occasion calls for something grander, the capital has one of the country's deepest luxury fleets: Mercedes E-Class and S-Class, BMW 7 Series, Range Rover and Rolls-Royce. See luxury car rental in Delhi for chauffeur-driven executive cars, and our wedding page for decorated cars, the groom's car and guest shuttles. All cars are within four model years, while Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach may be up to seven.
Local packages in Delhi: 4, 8 and 12 hours compared
Many Delhi days do not fit neatly into eight hours. A wedding reception that starts at 8 pm, a business trip that begins with a 7 am breakfast meeting in Aerocity, or a family visiting relatives in Rohini, Dwarka and Faridabad on one Sunday can all run long. For those, the 12 hr/120 km package locks in the longer day at the time of booking. It is priced at one and a half times the 8 hour fare plus 40 km at the class's per-km rate, rounded to the nearest Rs 10. Fares updated September 2026.
| Car | 4 hr / 40 km | 8 hr / 80 km | 12 hr / 120 km | A typical Delhi use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dzire, Amaze or Aura | Rs 4,320 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 7,200 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 12,240 Pay Now to Reserve | Visa appointment at Chanakyapuri plus lunch |
| Ertiga or Carens | Rs 5,400 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 9,000 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 15,180 Pay Now to Reserve | Family of five visiting relatives across West Delhi |
| City, Verna or Camry | Rs 6,480 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 10,800 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 18,120 Pay Now to Reserve | Client meetings between Nehru Place and Cyber City |
| Innova Crysta or Hycross | Rs 7,560 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 12,600 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 21,180 Pay Now to Reserve | Full sightseeing day with elders and luggage |
| Tempo Traveller | Rs 11,700 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 32,370 Pay Now to Reserve | Office outing or pre-wedding guest movement |
| Mercedes E-Class class | Rs 22,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 37,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 62,850 Pay Now to Reserve | Board visit or reception arrival |
The package that fits is the one whose kilometres and hours both cover your day. A sightseeing loop of Old Delhi, India Gate, Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar is rarely more than 60 km, so time, not distance, is the limit; a day of office visits spread between Noida Sector 62 and Gurgaon Sector 44 can cross 80 km before lunch. If you run past the package, extra hours and kilometres are charged at the rates shown in the booker at the time of booking, and the driver logs the closing reading in front of you.
Delhi cab fare per km by car class
Outside the city, every class is billed per kilometre, and the same rate applies whether you leave from Connaught Place, Dwarka or Mayur Vihar. The examples below use two distances that matter to Delhi travellers: the 233 km one way run to Agra, and the 250 km that a round trip bills as its minimum for each calendar day.
| Class (seats) | Rate per km | Delhi to Agra one way (233 km) | One day minimum (250 km) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact sedan (4) | Rs 36 | Rs 8,390 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 9,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| MUV Ertiga (6) | Rs 42 | Rs 9,790 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 10,500 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Premium sedan (4) | Rs 48 | Rs 11,180 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 12,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Innova Crysta (6) | Rs 57.6 | Rs 13,280 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 14,250 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Tempo Traveller (12-26) | Rs 78 | Rs 18,170 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Premium SUV Fortuner (6) | Rs 84 | Rs 19,570 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 21,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Force Urbania (10-17) | Rs 102 | Rs 23,770 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 25,500 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Luxury sedan E-Class (3) | Rs 170 | Rs 38,450 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 41,250 Pay Now to Reserve |
All before 5% GST, tolls, permits and parking. A compact hatchback class is not on our Delhi card; the Dzire-class sedan is the entry car because it carries two suitcases in the boot, which a hatchback cannot. For the difference between classes, browse the fleet page, or see the Ertiga on rent and Fortuner on rent pages.
More one way cabs from Delhi
Beyond the routes with their own pages, Delhi customers regularly ask for these drops. Distances are approximate door-to-door figures by the usual highway, and fares are distance multiplied by the per-km rate.
| From Delhi to | About | Usual road | Sedan one way | Innova one way |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Neemrana | 125 km | NH 48 | Rs 4,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 7,130 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Kurukshetra | 160 km | NH 44 | Rs 5,760 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 9,120 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Alwar and Sariska | 170 km | via Sohna | Rs 6,120 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 9,690 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Bharatpur | 185 km | Yamuna Expressway, NH 21 | Rs 6,660 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 10,550 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Jim Corbett (Ramnagar) | 250 km | NH 9 via Moradabad | Rs 9,000 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 14,250 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Kanpur | 480 km | Yamuna and Agra-Lucknow Expressways | Rs 17,280 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 27,360 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Lucknow | 555 km | Agra-Lucknow Expressway | Rs 19,980 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 31,630 Pay Now to Reserve |
For hill destinations the same rate applies, but the booker may suggest a larger car for mountain roads. The routes hub lists every city pair we publish, and Kashmir taxi service or Himachal taxi service cover longer hill circuits from Delhi.
Airport and railway station transfers in Delhi
Arrivals in Delhi come by air and by rail in roughly equal importance, and each hub has its quirks. For a flight, book an airport transfer; for a train, we recommend the 4 hr/40 km package, because it absorbs a late-running train without a separate waiting charge and still gets you home across the city.
| Hub | Where the chauffeur meets you | Distance to Connaught Place (about) | Book as |
|---|---|---|---|
| IGI Terminal 3 | Arrivals hall exit, name board | 16 km | Airport transfer, Rs 3,960 Pay Now to Reserve sedan |
| IGI Terminal 1 | Arrivals kerb, name board | 18 km | Airport transfer, Rs 3,960 Pay Now to Reserve sedan |
| New Delhi station, Paharganj side | Platform 1 exit | 2 km | 4 hr/40 km, Rs 4,320 Pay Now to Reserve sedan |
| New Delhi station, Ajmeri Gate side | Platform 16 exit | 2 km | 4 hr/40 km, Rs 4,320 Pay Now to Reserve sedan |
| Hazrat Nizamuddin | Main forecourt | 9 km | 4 hr/40 km, Rs 4,320 Pay Now to Reserve sedan |
| Anand Vihar Terminal | East exit | 15 km | 4 hr/40 km, Rs 4,320 Pay Now to Reserve sedan |
| Old Delhi Junction | Main entrance, Chandni Chowk side | 5 km | 4 hr/40 km, Rs 4,320 Pay Now to Reserve sedan |
| Delhi Sarai Rohilla | Main forecourt | 7 km | 4 hr/40 km, Rs 4,320 Pay Now to Reserve sedan |
Platform numbers change with the train, so check your running status on the Indian Railways enquiry site and send the chauffeur your coach number. If you are combining a train and a flight, for example the Shatabdi from Chandigarh into New Delhi and an evening departure from T3, the Airport Express metro link from New Delhi station is an option; route details are on the Delhi Metro site. Most families with luggage still prefer a car door to door.
Localities we serve across Delhi
We pick up from every part of the capital. The zone table helps you see which area you are in and what to tell the chauffeur.
| Zone | Localities | Pickup tip |
|---|---|---|
| Central and New Delhi | Connaught Place, Janpath, Chanakyapuri, Lodhi Colony, Jor Bagh, Golf Links, Sunder Nagar | Embassy gates need the visitor's name in advance |
| South Delhi | Greater Kailash, Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Hauz Khas, Saket, Malviya Nagar, Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, Mehrauli, Chhattarpur | Farmhouse venues need the gate number |
| South-East | Nehru Place, Kalkaji, Okhla, Jasola, Sarita Vihar, New Friends Colony | Office towers ask for a visitor slip |
| West Delhi | Rajouri Garden, Punjabi Bagh, Janakpuri, Tilak Nagar, Paschim Vihar, Vikaspuri | Narrow market lanes; share a landmark |
| South-West | Dwarka sectors, Palam, Mahipalpur, Aerocity | Closest zone to IGI |
| North Delhi | Civil Lines, Model Town, Kamla Nagar, Pitampura, Rohini, Shalimar Bagh | University area closes some roads at events |
| East Delhi | Mayur Vihar, Patparganj, Preet Vihar, Laxmi Nagar, Shahdara | Leave early for the Yamuna bridges |
| Old Delhi | Chandni Chowk, Daryaganj, Kashmere Gate, Karol Bagh, Paharganj | Car-free zones; meet at the edge |
That is well over forty named localities, and any address between them is covered at the same fares. Cross-border pickups in Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad are also routine.
RutzIndia.com compared with app cabs and self-drive in Delhi
Delhi has many ways to move, and the right one depends on the trip. Ride-hailing apps are quick for a short solo hop inside the city. Self-drive rentals suit confident drivers who know NCR roads and do not mind parking. A pre-booked chauffeur service fits when the timing is fixed, the journey is long, or the passengers include elders, children or guests who should not wait on a kerb.
| Factor | Pre-booked chauffeur (RutzIndia.com) | App cab | Self-drive rental |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fare known in advance | Yes, fixed before payment | Estimate; can change with demand | Daily rent plus fuel and deposit |
| Same car and driver all day | Yes, on 4, 8 or 12 hr packages | No, one ride at a time | You are the driver |
| Outstation one way | Yes, per km | Varies by app and city | Usually return to the same city |
| Flight tracking and name board | Included | Not typical | Not applicable |
| Parking, fatigue, NCR permits | Handled by the chauffeur | Handled by the driver | Your responsibility |
This is not a claim that one option is always better; it is a guide to matching the trip to the service. For regular use by the week or month, see monthly car rental with driver, and for visitors from abroad, NRI car hire in India explains airport meet-and-greet and multi-city itineraries.
How booking works, and what is included
- Pick the trip type in the booker: airport, local 4 hr or 8 hr, or outstation one way or round trip.
- Enter pickup, drop and time; the fare appears before you pay, and you pay by card or UPI.
- The driver's name, car number and contact reach you on WhatsApp the evening before (or two hours before for same-day bookings).
- You get a GST invoice after the trip, which corporate customers can claim; account billing is available through corporate car rental.
The fare includes the car, the driver, fuel and the kilometres in your package. It excludes GST at 5%, tolls, state permits, parking and, on multi-day trips, the driver's night allowance. Cancellation is free up to 72 hours before pickup; 10% applies within 72 hours, 50% within 48 hours and 100% within 24 hours or on a no-show. The full cancellation policy has the details.
