Car rental with driver in Delhi works best when your day has more than one stop. Instead of hailing a new cab for every meeting, market or monument, you book one car and one chauffeur for a block of time, and that car stays with you from the first pickup until you release it. On RutzIndia.com the standard blocks are 4 hours / 40 km, 8 hours / 80 km and a longer 12-hour day, and for trips out of the city we switch to per-km billing. This page explains exactly how that time-based hire is priced in Delhi, how it compares with self-drive and app cabs, and how people actually use it: board meetings in Aerocity, a wedding-shopping run through Chandni Chowk and Karol Bagh, or a long weekend in the hills.
Car rental with driver in Delhi: what a day costs
A chauffeur-driven Swift Dzire in Delhi costs Rs 7,200 Pay Now to Reserve for 8 hours / 80 km and Rs 4,320 Pay Now to Reserve for 4 hours / 40 km. An Innova Crysta is Rs 12,600 Pay Now to Reserve for the 8-hour day, a Honda City class sedan Rs 10,800 Pay Now to Reserve and a Mercedes E-Class Rs 37,500 Pay Now to Reserve. Fares are before 5% GST; parking and tolls are added at actual cost.
Those package prices include the car, the chauffeur, fuel for the included kilometres and the driver's own meals during a normal day. What they do not include is anything you pay at a barrier: MCD parking at a market, the toll plaza on the way to Gurugram's Kherki Daula side or the Yamuna Expressway, and state entry tax if you cross into another state. Every one of those is passed through at actual cost, with the slip handed to you or photographed into your invoice. The full tariff by car class sits below.
| Car class (examples) | 4 hr / 40 km | 8 hr / 80 km | 12 hr / 120 km | Extra hour | Extra km |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Compact sedan (Dzire, Aura, Amaze) | Rs 4,320 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 7,200 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 12,240 Pay Now to Reserve | about Rs 900 | Rs 36 |
| MUV (Ertiga, Carens) | Rs 5,400 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 9,000 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 15,180 Pay Now to Reserve | about Rs 1,140 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 42 |
| Premium sedan (Honda City, Verna) | Rs 6,480 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 10,800 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 18,120 Pay Now to Reserve | about Rs 1,350 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 48 |
| Innova Crysta / Hycross | Rs 7,560 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 12,600 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 21,180 Pay Now to Reserve | about Rs 1,560 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 57.6 |
| Premium SUV (Fortuner, Gloster) | Rs 13,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 22,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 37,110 Pay Now to Reserve | about Rs 2,820 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 84 |

All figures are Delhi planning fares in rupees before 5% GST. Extra hours are billed at the class hourly rate, which works out to roughly one-eighth of the 8-hour package; extra kilometres are charged at the same per-km rate we use for outstation cabs. The live booker confirms the exact figure for your pickup address and date before you pay.

How 4 hr, 8 hr and 12 hr chauffeur packages work in Delhi
Time-based hire has two meters running side by side: the clock and the odometer. Your package ends when either limit is crossed, and anything beyond is billed as extra. The clock starts at your reporting time at the pickup address, not when the chauffeur leaves the garage, and it stops when you release the car. Kilometres are counted the same way, from your door back to your door, so a driver who lives in Dwarka is not charging you for his ride to Greater Kailash.
4 hours / 40 km suits a single errand with waiting built in: a visa appointment at the VFS centre, a hospital consultation followed by a pharmacy stop, or a family lunch in Mehrauli. 8 hours / 80 km is the workhorse package. In Delhi traffic, 80 km is generous for a day inside the city, because you will rarely cover more than 50 or 60 km between Connaught Place, South Delhi and Aerocity; time usually runs out first. The 12-hour day is the one corporates and wedding families ask for. We price it transparently as the 8-hour package plus four extra hours and 40 extra km, so a Dzire comes to Rs 12,240 Pay Now to Reserve and an Innova Crysta to Rs 21,180 Pay Now to Reserve for 12 hours / 120 km.
A worked example: you book an 8 hr / 80 km Dzire at 9 am, release the car at 6 pm and have driven 92 km. You pay Rs 7,200 Pay Now to Reserve for the package, one extra hour at about Rs 900, and 12 extra km at Rs 36, which is Rs 430, for a total of about Rs 8,530 plus parking and GST. Nothing is hidden in that arithmetic, and the trip sheet the chauffeur fills in shows the start and end readings for you to check.
Chauffeur hire versus self-drive and app cabs in Delhi
Self-drive rentals are cheaper on paper, but in Delhi the saving tends to evaporate. You carry the security deposit, the fuel, the parking hunt around Khan Market or Sarojini Nagar, and the stress of the Ring Road at 6 pm. If a traffic camera catches a lane violation, the challan finds you weeks later through the rental company. A chauffeur absorbs every one of those: he drops you at the gate, circles or waits in a legal spot, and is back when you message.
App cabs are excellent for a single hop from A to B. They get awkward when you have five stops in a day. Each ride is a fresh booking with fresh surge, you lose time waiting for a new driver after every meeting, and shopping bags cannot stay in the boot while you walk into the next showroom. With time-based hire the same car is waiting outside, your laptop bag stays on the back seat and the chauffeur already knows the plan. For a family visiting from abroad, or a delegation that needs to arrive together, that continuity is the whole point.
The honest rule of thumb: if your day in Delhi has one or two point-to-point legs, an app cab or our Delhi taxi service is enough. If it has three or more stops, or more than two hours of waiting, a car with driver on an 8-hour package is usually cheaper and always calmer.
| What matters on a Delhi day | Self-drive rental | App cab, ride by ride | RutzIndia.com car with driver |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who handles Ring Road and Outer Ring Road traffic | You | A different driver each leg | One chauffeur for the whole day |
| Money blocked up front | Security deposit, often refundable weeks later | None | None beyond the fare |
| How the price moves at 6 pm or in rain | Fixed rent, but fuel and parking on you | Surge can apply | Package fare fixed when you book |
| Parking at Khan Market, Chandni Chowk or a mall | Your problem, plus challan risk | Not relevant, but you wait for the next car | Chauffeur drops you at the gate and waits |
| Bags and shopping between stops | Stay in your car | Leave with you every time | Stay locked in the boot |
| Tolls into Gurugram or on the Yamuna Expressway | You pay at the plaza | Added to each fare | Passed on at actual cost with receipts |
| Paperwork you need | Valid licence, ID, deposit | App account | Booking confirmation only |
| Best suited to | Confident local drivers on a leisure day | One or two quick hops | Three or more stops, long waits, visitors and families |
If you do choose self-drive, the transport ministry's Parivahan portal explains licence and vehicle rules, including what visitors need to carry. For most visitors, the deciding factor is simply that a chauffeur already knows which gate of AIIMS, which lane of Karol Bagh and which terminal door at IGI is quickest.

A business day in Delhi, Gurugram and Noida
Delhi's commercial map is spread across three states, and that is where a dedicated car earns its fare. A typical corporate booking starts at a hotel in Aerocity, runs to a 10 am meeting in Cyber City or on Golf Course Road in Gurugram, crosses back to Connaught Place or Nehru Place after lunch, and ends with dinner in Chanakyapuri or Vasant Kunj. That is roughly 60 to 75 km and nine to ten hours, so the 8 hr / 80 km package plus one or two extra hours covers it.
If your office is in Noida's Sector 62 or near Film City, factor in the DND Flyway or the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, and remember that a Noida-to-Gurugram leg can take well over an hour at peak. Conventions at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan and at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka create their own jams on event days, and our desk plans pickups with that in mind. For repeat programmes and visiting teams we can bill a company account with a single consolidated GST invoice; see corporate car rental for how accounts work, and monthly car rental with driver if you need the same car and chauffeur every working day.
Executives often ask for a premium sedan or a Mercedes car on rent for client-facing days. For airport runs tied to the same day, the chauffeur tracks your flight into IGI Terminal 1, 2 or 3, meets you with a name board, and waits free for 60 minutes after an international landing or 30 minutes after a domestic one. Beyond that, waiting is billed at the hourly rate shown above. A standalone transfer is usually better value through our Delhi airport taxi page.
Shopping, sightseeing and wedding-errand days
Delhi rewards people who can hop between neighbourhoods without thinking about the next ride. A sightseeing day might start at Humayun's Tomb when it opens, move to Qutub Minar, break for lunch in Hauz Khas and finish at India Gate and Kartavya Path as the lights come on. The Delhi Government's tourism portal lists opening days and ticketing for most of these; many monuments close on one weekday, so check before you fix the route.
Old Delhi needs a different plan. Cars cannot enter the lanes of Chandni Chowk, so the chauffeur drops you near the Red Fort or Town Hall end and waits at a designated parking area while you walk Kinari Bazaar, Dariba Kalan and Paranthe Wali Gali. That is exactly the kind of day where the 8-hour package pays off: you are not trying to find an auto with twelve shopping bags at 5 pm.
Wedding shopping is its own sport in Delhi. Families move between the lehenga showrooms of Karol Bagh and Shahpur Jat, jewellers in South Extension and Chandni Chowk, and gift stores in Lajpat Nagar, often over three or four consecutive days. A 12-hour Innova Crysta keeps six people together with space for garment bags. When the big day itself arrives, our wedding car rental in Delhi page covers decorated cars, and the luxury car rental in Delhi fleet runs from E-Class to Rolls-Royce. Wedding season from November to February, plus Diwali weeks, books out early, so reserve your dates as soon as the functions are fixed.

Railway stations, hotel districts and hospital runs
Plenty of Delhi hires begin at a railway platform rather than an airport. New Delhi station has its Paharganj side and its Ajmeri Gate side, and the chauffeur needs to know which exit your coach is nearest; tell us the train number and coach and he will wait at the right gate. Hazrat Nizamuddin serves many southbound and Rajdhani services, Old Delhi station sits beside the Chandni Chowk lanes, and Anand Vihar Terminal handles a great deal of eastbound traffic. A 4-hour package that starts at the station, covers a hotel check-in and one errand, and ends at a restaurant is often better value than a string of separate rides.
Hotel districts shape the day too. Aerocity's hotels sit minutes from the airport but a long run from Old Delhi; Connaught Place and Janpath put you at the centre; Chanakyapuri and Lutyens' Delhi house the embassies and high commissions, where you will want a car that waits while you attend a visa appointment; and Paharganj's budget hotels are close to New Delhi station but have very narrow approach lanes. Tell the desk the hotel name and the chauffeur will plan the pickup point.
Medical visits are one of the most practical uses of a time package. Families travelling to AIIMS, Safdarjung, Medanta in Gurugram, Max Saket, Fortis in Vasant Kunj or Indraprastha Apollo on Mathura Road often face long waits between consultation, tests and pharmacy. A car that stays with the patient for 8 hours, with the air-conditioning running and a driver who can fetch the car to the entrance, removes a great deal of stress. Where only one leg is needed, the Delhi Metro serves several of these hospitals directly.
Weekend getaways and multi-day hire from Delhi
Once the car leaves the city, billing switches from packages to per-km with a minimum of 250 km for every calendar day of a round trip. That minimum protects the chauffeur's day when the car is parked at a hill resort, and it rarely bites on the popular Delhi escapes because the distances are long. The NHAI network makes most of them straightforward: the Yamuna Expressway to Agra, NH-48 to Jaipur, and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway towards Haridwar and Rishikesh.
Three worked examples using standard rates, all before GST and tolls:
- Same-day Agra round trip in a Dzire: about 466 km, so 466 x Rs 36 = Rs 16,780 Pay Now to Reserve. The Delhi to Agra taxi page covers timings and Taj Mahal closing days.
- Two days in Jaipur in an Innova Crysta: the round trip is about 560 km, above the 500 km two-day minimum, so 560 x Rs 57.6 = Rs 31,920 plus one night's driver allowance. See Delhi to Jaipur taxi.
- Three days in Shimla in a Dzire: the road distance is about 690 km, below the three-day minimum of 750 km, so you are billed 750 x Rs 36 = Rs 27,000 plus two nights of allowance. The Delhi to Shimla taxi page explains the hill stretch.
Driver night allowance on multi-day trips is Rs 1,500 per night depending on the destination, and it covers the chauffeur's food and stay; you do not have to arrange a room for him. Interstate permits for Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana or Himachal Pradesh are charged at actual cost. If you only need to be dropped and do not want the car to wait, a one way taxi is billed on the single distance and is cheaper. Hill driving in December to February brings fog on the plains and possible snow above Shimla and Mussoorie, so we assign chauffeurs with mountain experience and allow extra time.
Areas we cover across Delhi, Gurugram and Noida
A Delhi package can begin and end anywhere in the National Capital Region. These are the neighbourhoods and hubs our chauffeurs collect from most often; if yours is not listed, the booker still accepts the address.
- Central and New Delhi: Connaught Place, Janpath, Chanakyapuri, Lodhi Colony, Khan Market, Paharganj, Karol Bagh
- South Delhi: Greater Kailash, Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, South Extension, Hauz Khas, Saket, Vasant Kunj, Vasant Vihar, Mehrauli, Nehru Place
- West and North Delhi: Dwarka, Janakpuri, Rajouri Garden, Punjabi Bagh, Pitampura, Civil Lines, Kamla Nagar
- East Delhi: Mayur Vihar, Preet Vihar, Laxmi Nagar
- Airport belt: Aerocity, Mahipalpur, IGI Terminals 1, 2 and 3
- Gurugram: Cyber City, Golf Course Road, Sohna Road, Udyog Vihar, MG Road
- Noida and Greater Noida: Sector 18, Sector 62, Film City, Knowledge Park, Pari Chowk
For single rides in these satellite cities, see Gurgaon taxi service and Noida taxi service. For a day that crosses all three, a time package on this page is the simpler choice, and tourists planning Agra and Jaipur as well can compare the Golden Triangle tour by car or a same-day Agra tour by car.
Choosing the right car for your Delhi day
A Dzire comfortably seats three adults with two medium suitcases, and it is the sensible choice for solo business days. An Ertiga or Carens gives you a third row for a family of five on a budget. The Innova Crysta or Hycross is the Delhi favourite for a reason: captain seats, a tall roof for Delhi's summer and space for six with luggage; the Innova Crysta on rent in Delhi page goes deeper. Groups of ten or more should look at a Tempo Traveller in Delhi rather than two cars, because one vehicle keeps the group together through toll lanes and parking.
Every car on RutzIndia.com is within four model years, air-conditioned, and cleaned before each duty. The only exceptions to the age rule are Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach, which may be up to seven model years old because they are kept for occasions rather than daily mileage.
How booking, payment and cancellation work
You can book online by choosing the city, the package and the car, and the fare appears before you pay. Card and UPI are accepted through the booker, and businesses can ask for a GST invoice in the company's name. For weddings, multi-car days or trips longer than three days, send the plan to the travel desk and we reply with a written quote. The chauffeur's name and car number reach you by message the evening before a morning duty.
Plans change, and our cancellation policy is written to be simple: cancel more than 72 hours before pickup and you pay nothing; within 72 hours the charge is 10% of the fare; within 48 hours it is 50%; within 24 hours, or if nobody turns up at the pickup point, the full fare is due. The same rule applies to every car class, from a Dzire to an E-Class.

If you are comparing cities for a longer India trip, the national car rental with driver page shows how the same packages are priced elsewhere, and the fares page lays out every class in one place.
