Most people who search for a Delhi to Agra taxi want one of two things: a comfortable one-way drop to an Agra hotel, or a long day out that starts before dawn in Delhi, puts them in front of the Taj Mahal while the marble is still pink, and brings them home for dinner. RutzIndia.com prices both openly. You pick the car, see the fare, and a chauffeur collects you from your door in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida or straight from IGI Airport.
Delhi to Agra taxi fare: one way and round trip
A Delhi to Agra taxi costs Rs 8,390 Pay Now to Reserve one way in a compact sedan (about 233 km at Rs 36/km) and Rs 13,280 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta. A same-day return is billed on 466 km: Rs 16,780 Pay Now to Reserve by sedan or Rs 26,560 Pay Now to Reserve by Innova, before 5% GST, with tolls and parking at actual.
Every figure below comes from multiplying the route distance by the per-km rate for the car class. Round trips are billed on the actual kilometres or 250 km per calendar day, whichever is higher, so a two-day trip with an overnight in Agra is billed on 500 km.
| Car | One-way drop | Same-day return (466 km) | Overnight return (500 km) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swift Dzire / Honda Amaze | Rs 8,390 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 16,780 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 18,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Honda City / Hyundai Verna | Rs 11,180 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 22,370 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 24,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Maruti Ertiga / Kia Carens | Rs 9,790 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 19,570 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 21,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Innova Crysta / Hycross | Rs 13,280 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 26,560 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 28,500 Pay Now to Reserve |

| Mercedes E-Class / BMW 5 Series | Rs 38,450 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 76,890 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 82,500 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Tempo Traveller | Rs 18,170 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 36,350 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 39,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
Add a driver night allowance of Rs 1,500 for the overnight option. All prices are before 5% GST. Monument tickets, guide fees and meals are not part of the taxi fare; we list them separately so you are never surprised.

The route: Yamuna Expressway versus the old Mathura road
There are two ways to drive from Delhi to Agra, and your chauffeur will almost always choose the first.
Yamuna Expressway (preferred). From central or south Delhi the car crosses the Yamuna by the DND Flyway and follows the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway to Pari Chowk, then joins the six-lane Yamuna Expressway for roughly 165 km to Agra. It is access-controlled, has no traffic lights, and bypasses the towns. From Gurgaon, the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) or the Faridabad-Noida route reaches the expressway without entering Delhi at all. The expressway ends at Kuberpur on the eastern edge of Agra, about 15 to 20 minutes from the hotels around Fatehabad Road and the Taj's East Gate.
NH19 through Faridabad, Palwal and Mathura. The older Delhi-Mathura-Agra highway is useful if you want to stop at Mathura or Vrindavan, or if expressway traffic is disrupted. It is slower because of towns and junctions, but it passes the Krishna temples directly. See the Delhi to Mathura taxi page if Mathura is the main purpose of the trip.
Toll plazas and speed limits
The Yamuna Expressway has toll plazas near Jewar, near Mathura and at the Agra end; the DND Flyway and the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway that lead to it are not tolled. Toll rates are revised by the authority from time to time, so we do not print a figure that could go stale; the car pays by FASTag and every deduction is itemised on your invoice at actual cost. Speed limits are camera-enforced and are lowered during the winter fog season, when visibility on the expressway can drop sharply in the early morning between December and January. A responsible chauffeur slows down in fog regardless of the posted limit.
Planning the day: departure time, Friday closure and the Taj rules
For a same-day trip, leave Delhi between 5.30 and 6.30 am. At that hour the city is empty and you reach Agra by about 9 to 9.30 am, before tour buses fill the car parks. Leave at 9 am and you will stand in the midday queue.
Three rules shape every Agra plan:
- The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays for prayers. Agra Fort and the other monuments stay open, but do not plan a Friday Taj visit. Check current timings and ticket rules on the official Taj Mahal site.
- Cars cannot drive up to the Taj. Petrol and diesel vehicles are kept out of the protected zone around the monument, so your chauffeur parks at the designated lot near the East or West Gate and you take the short battery-bus or e-rickshaw ride to the ticket gate. Parking there is charged at actual.
- Security is strict. Large bags, food, tripods and many electronic items are not allowed inside; leave them in the car, which stays with the chauffeur.
The monuments are protected by the Archaeological Survey of India, which sets entry fees and rules; foreign nationals pay a higher fee than Indian citizens, and tickets can usually be bought online.

A same-day Agra itinerary that works
- 5.30 am: pickup in Delhi. Tea stop at an expressway food plaza.
- 9.00 am: Taj Mahal, about two and a half to three hours including security and the walk.
- 12.30 pm: lunch in Agra, near the Taj or on Fatehabad Road.
- 1.45 pm: Agra Fort, roughly 90 minutes.
- 3.30 pm: Itmad-ud-Daulah (the "Baby Taj") or Mehtab Bagh for the riverside view of the Taj at sunset, if you have light.
- 5.30 pm: leave Agra; back in Delhi around 9 to 9.30 pm.
That is a long day for the chauffeur too, which is why the same-day return is billed on the full 466 km. If you add Fatehpur Sikri, about 40 km west of Agra, allow two more hours and consider staying overnight. For a guided, pre-built version of this day with timings tested by our desk, see the same-day Agra tour by car.
Stops worth making on the drive
- Expressway food plazas: clean washrooms, tea and breakfast; the chauffeur knows which ones are fresh at 6 am.
- Mathura and Vrindavan: a detour off the expressway of roughly an hour, for the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple and the temples of Vrindavan. Popular on the return leg.
- Sikandra: Akbar's tomb, on the northern edge of Agra, right beside the old highway. A quiet 45-minute stop.
- Fatehpur Sikri: the red sandstone city of Akbar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, best combined with an overnight or with onward travel towards Jaipur.

Pickup areas in Delhi NCR and drops in Agra
We collect from any address across Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. Common pickups are hotels in Connaught Place, Paharganj, Karol Bagh and Aerocity, homes in south and east Delhi, Gurgaon's Cyber City and Golf Course Road, and Noida sectors along the expressway, which save 45 minutes because the car is already on the right side of the river.
From IGI Airport: many visitors land at Terminal 3 and go straight to Agra. The chauffeur tracks the flight and waits with your name; we allow 60 minutes free after international arrivals and 30 minutes after domestic ones, then bill waiting at the hourly rate. Details are on the Delhi airport taxi page.
In Agra we drop anywhere: the hotels along Fatehabad Road and in Taj Ganj near the East Gate, the Cantonment, the homestays near Mehtab Bagh, Agra Cantt and Agra Fort railway stations, and Agra airport at Kheria. If Agra is your base for a few days, our Agra taxi service offers local 8 hr / 80 km cars.
Interstate permit notes
Delhi to Agra crosses from the National Capital Territory into Uttar Pradesh. Our cars travel on All-India tourist permits, which cover interstate commercial journeys. If any state border tax or entry fee does apply to a particular vehicle on the day, it is charged at actual cost and shown on the invoice, never added as a hidden margin. Private-registration cars cannot legally be hired out with a driver, which is one reason to book a licensed operator rather than an informal arrangement.
Beyond Agra: one-way onward and the Golden Triangle
Agra sits on India's best-known tourist circuit. From here many travellers continue to Jaipur rather than go back to Delhi; our Agra to Jaipur taxi covers about 240 km via Fatehpur Sikri and the Chand Baori stepwell at Abhaneri. Doing all three cities in one booking is usually cheaper and simpler: the Golden Triangle tour by car keeps the same chauffeur for four to six days. Those who want Delhi to Jaipur directly can book the Delhi to Jaipur taxi.
Groups of ten or more, school trips and wedding parties heading to Agra's riverside hotels do well with a Tempo Traveller from Delhi, and couples celebrating an anniversary sometimes book an E-Class for the day.
Seasons and festival notes
October to March is the classic season: clear days and cool evenings, but also fog on early winter mornings and heavy demand around Christmas and New Year, so book early. April to June is hot, with afternoon temperatures well above 40 degrees; start at dawn, see the Taj early and rest in the car's air conditioning between sites. The monsoon from July to September is quieter and greener. Holi in March is lively in Mathura and Vrindavan, a good reason to combine them with Agra. Diwali week and long weekends bring heavy domestic traffic.
How much is a Delhi to Agra taxi in 2026?
Here is every car class we can send on the Agra run, with the per-km rate behind each fare. The same-day return column is billed on 466 km, twice the one-way distance, because that exceeds the 250 km one-day minimum. Rates were last updated in September 2026 and do not rise on weekends, public holidays or during the winter peak.
| Vehicle class | Per km | One way (233 km) | Same-day return (466 km) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact sedan (Dzire, Amaze, Aura) | Rs 36 | Rs 8,390 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 16,780 Pay Now to Reserve |
| MUV (Ertiga, Carens) | Rs 42 | Rs 9,790 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 19,570 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Premium sedan (City, Verna, Camry) | Rs 48 | Rs 11,180 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 22,370 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Innova Crysta / Hycross | Rs 57.6 | Rs 13,280 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 26,560 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Tempo Traveller (12-17 seat) | Rs 78 | Rs 18,170 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 36,350 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Premium SUV (Fortuner, Meridian) | Rs 84 | Rs 19,570 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 39,140 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Force Urbania | Rs 102 | Rs 23,770 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 47,530 Pay Now to Reserve |

| Mercedes E-Class / BMW 5 Series / Audi A6 | Rs 170 | Rs 38,450 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 76,890 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Toyota Vellfire / Carnival Limousine | Rs 210 | Rs 48,930 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 97,860 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Luxury coach (35-45 seat) | Rs 210 | Rs 48,930 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 97,860 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Luxury SUV (GLS, X7, Q7, Range Rover) | Rs 230 | Rs 52,430 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,04,850 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Mercedes S-Class / BMW 7 Series | Rs 330 | Rs 76,890 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,53,780 Pay Now to Reserve |
Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach are quoted on request for anniversary and wedding-party trips. All fares exclude 5% GST.
Worked example: a family of five, same day
A couple, two teenagers and a grandparent take an Innova Crysta on rent for a same-day Taj trip from Dwarka. The car is Rs 26,560 Pay Now to Reserve for the day; 5% GST adds about Rs 1,330. The three Yamuna Expressway plazas each way and the Taj parking lot are added at actual from the FASTag statement and the parking receipt. Monument tickets are bought separately, online or at the counter, at the rates the ASI sets for Indian and foreign visitors. The chauffeur waits at every stop, so the family never has to negotiate with rickshaws between sites.
Distance, time and toll plazas on the Yamuna Expressway route
The table follows a typical run from Connaught Place to the Taj's East Gate hotels. Distances are approximate and times reflect an early-morning start; plaza locations are as commonly known, and every toll is paid by FASTag and charged at actual.
| Stretch | About | Typical time | Toll plaza |
|---|---|---|---|
| Connaught Place to Pari Chowk, Greater Noida (DND Flyway and Noida Expressway) | 50 km | 60-75 min | none on this stretch |
| Zero point of the Yamuna Expressway to Jewar | 35 km | 25 min | Jewar plaza |
| Jewar to the Mathura interchange | 70 km | 45 min | plaza near Mathura |
| Mathura to the expressway's end at Kuberpur, Agra | 60 km | 40 min | plaza at the Agra end (Khandauli) |
| Kuberpur to Fatehabad Road and the Taj East Gate | 18 km | 20-30 min | none |
| Total | about 233 km | about 3.5 hrs |
From Gurgaon, the chauffeur usually heads east on the KMP Expressway or through Faridabad towards the expressway instead of crossing central Delhi; both options carry their own tolls. From Noida's sectors along the expressway, you are already well past the first hour of this table, which is why Noida pickups are the quickest start for Agra.
Gatimaan, bus, self-drive or a private cab to Agra?
Agra is one of the best-connected day trips in India, so it is worth comparing honestly.
| Option | Door to door? | Typical journey | At the Agra end | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gatimaan Express or Shatabdi | No: station to station | Under 2 hrs on the fastest train | You still need local transport between sites | Solo travellers staying near the station |
| Inter-state bus | No: bus terminal to bus stand | About 4-5 hrs | Autos or taxis from the stand | Tight budgets |
| Self-drive rental | Yes | About 3.5 hrs, you drive | You find parking at each site | Confident drivers on multi-day trips |
| Chauffeur-driven cab | Yes | About 3.5 hrs, you rest | Car waits at the Taj, Fort and every stop | Families, first-time visitors, airport arrivals |
The Gatimaan Express from Hazrat Nizamuddin is genuinely quick, and running days and timings can be checked on the Indian Railways train enquiry site. But a day in Agra means moving between the Taj, Agra Fort, Itmad-ud-Daulah and Mehtab Bagh, which are spread across both banks of the Yamuna, so train travellers usually hire a local taxi anyway. For two or more people starting from a hotel or the airport, a private cab often ends up comparable in cost and far simpler, and it lets you leave when you choose rather than when the train does.
Self-drive works for experienced drivers, but remember the winter fog, the exclusion zone around the Taj where you must find designated parking, and the long drive home after a tiring day on foot.
Pickup variants: airport, stations and hotel districts
The per-km fare is the same from any Delhi NCR address; what changes is the meeting point and the time it takes to reach the expressway.
| Pickup point | Meeting point | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| IGI Terminal 3 (international and domestic) | Arrivals, name board, after tracking your flight | 60 min free after international, 30 after domestic |
| IGI Terminal 1 (domestic) | Arrivals pickup area | Tell us your terminal and airline |
| New Delhi railway station | Paharganj side or Ajmeri Gate side, as you choose | Send your coach number |
| Hazrat Nizamuddin and Anand Vihar stations | Main exit | Both are on the east side, close to the DND |
| Aerocity hotels | Hotel porch | Early starts avoid the Mahipalpur crawl |
| Connaught Place, Janpath and Paharganj hotels | Hotel porch or nearest permitted point | The narrow Paharganj lanes may mean a short walk |
| Chanakyapuri and Lutyens' Delhi hotels | Hotel porch | Quick access to the Ring Road and DND |
| Gurgaon Cyber City and Golf Course Road | Hotel or office lobby | KMP or Faridabad route used |
| Noida and Greater Noida sectors | Your gate | The fastest start of all |
Terminal and arrival information is published on the Delhi airport website. If you are landing on a long-haul flight, consider resting a night in Aerocity and leaving at dawn; the Taj is best seen fresh.
Sightseeing add-ons in and around Agra
If you are staying in Agra, a local package is cheaper than keeping the Delhi car. Agra's local rates are slightly below Delhi's; the full list is on the Agra taxi service page.
| Agra local package | Compact sedan | Innova Crysta | Tempo Traveller |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 hr / 40 km | Rs 3,970 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 6,950 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 10,760 Pay Now to Reserve |
| 8 hr / 80 km | Rs 6,620 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 11,590 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 17,940 Pay Now to Reserve |
Add-ons that work well:
- Sunrise at the Taj: the monument opens around sunrise, and the first hour has the softest light and the thinnest crowds. The chauffeur collects you from your hotel in the dark and waits at the parking lot.
- Full-moon night viewing: the ASI allows limited night viewing on a few nights around each full moon, except Fridays and during Ramzan, with tickets sold in advance. Check the dates before you plan an evening around it.
- Fatehpur Sikri: roughly 40 km west of Agra; allow half a day for the Buland Darwaza, the Jama Masjid and the palace complex. It fits in an 8 hr / 80 km package.
- Sur Sarovar (Keetham Lake) bird sanctuary: on the Delhi side of Agra near Sikandra, rewarding in winter when migratory birds arrive.
- Kinari Bazaar and Sadar Bazaar: for marble inlay work, leather and the city's famous petha sweets.
- Mathura and Vrindavan on the way back: a detour of roughly an hour or two, best booked as part of a round trip.
The Agra district administration site lists local tourism offices and official information on the city's monuments. Groups of ten or more can book a Tempo Traveller in Agra for local sightseeing.
What the fare includes and what it does not
| Item | One-way drop | Same-day or multi-day return |

For a longer stay combining Delhi, Agra and Jaipur with the same chauffeur, compare this with the Golden Triangle tour by car package. Luxury-car travellers can see models and inclusions on the luxury car rental in Delhi page, and the fleet page shows every car class with seats and luggage.
Onward fares from Agra and the Golden Triangle loop
Agra is rarely a dead end. The table below shows the neighbouring one-way fares that travellers most often combine with this route, using the same per-km rates.
| Route | About | Compact sedan | Innova Crysta |
|---|---|---|---|
| Delhi to Vrindavan | 165 km | Rs 5,940 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 9,410 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Delhi to Mathura | 180 km | Rs 6,480 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 10,260 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Delhi to Agra | 233 km | Rs 8,390 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 13,280 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Agra to Jaipur | 240 km | Rs 8,640 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 13,680 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Delhi to Jaipur | 280 km | Rs 10,080 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 15,960 Pay Now to Reserve |
Put three of those together and you have the classic loop: Delhi to Agra, Agra to Jaipur, Jaipur back to Delhi, about 753 km in all. Driven over four days with the same car and chauffeur, it is billed at the 250 km daily minimum, so 1,000 km: Rs 36,000 Pay Now to Reserve by compact sedan or Rs 57,000 Pay Now to Reserve by Innova Crysta, plus three night allowances of Rs 1,500 and 5% GST, with tolls and parking at actual. The spare kilometres cover Fatehpur Sikri, Abhaneri and local sightseeing in Jaipur. Booking the loop as one trip is usually cheaper than three separate one-way cabs, and you keep the same chauffeur, who by the second day knows how you like to travel.
If you only want one direction, a one-way drop in Agra followed by a separate Agra to Jaipur taxi a day or two later works well too. Pilgrims who want the Braj temples as the main event can book the Delhi to Vrindavan taxi instead and visit Agra on the way home.
Who usually books which option
- International visitors on a short stopover book a same-day return from an Aerocity hotel or straight from the airport, often in a premium sedan.
- Indian families on a long weekend take an Innova, stay one night near the East Gate and add Mathura on the way back.
- Wedding and corporate groups use Tempo Travellers or a mini bus, with a sedan for the organisers.
- NRIs showing parents or children the Taj often combine it with a longer NRI car hire booking that covers their whole stay in India.
How booking works
Choose one way, same-day return or multi-day on the booking page, enter addresses and time, and the fare appears with GST shown separately. Pay by card or UPI; companies can take a GST invoice in their name. Your chauffeur's details come before pickup. Cancellation is free until 72 hours before the trip; after that we retain 10% (within 72 hours), 50% (within 48 hours) or the full fare (within 24 hours or no-show), as set out in our cancellation policy. Every car on this route is within four model years of age.
