Most travellers who book an Agra to Jaipur taxi are in the middle of the Golden Triangle. They have seen the Taj Mahal, perhaps at sunrise, and now want to reach Jaipur in comfort without wasting the day at a railway station. The good news is that the road between the two cities passes some of the finest sights in north India, and a private car lets you see them without any extra booking. RutzIndia.com gives you a chauffeur, a fixed per-km fare shown before you pay, and a car within four model years, for a one-way drop or a return.
Agra to Jaipur one way taxi price in 2026

The route: NH-21 through Bharatpur and Dausa
Your driver follows NH-21, the old Agra-Jaipur highway, west out of Agra past Kiraoli to Fatehpur Sikri, across the state line into Rajasthan at Bharatpur, then on through Mahwa, Sikandra and Dausa to the eastern edge of Jaipur. It is a four-lane divided road for most of its length, with a handful of toll plazas and small towns where speeds drop. Driving time without stops is about four and a half hours; with Fatehpur Sikri and a lunch break it is a comfortable seven-hour day.
Leaving Agra between 8 and 9 am, after an early Taj visit and breakfast, puts you in Jaipur by late afternoon with time for a sunset at Nahargarh. On a winter morning, fog on the plains around Bharatpur can slow the first hour, so drivers prefer a slightly later start from December to January.
Three stops worth making on the way
Fatehpur Sikri
Akbar's red sandstone capital, about 37 km from Agra, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and sits right on the highway. The Wikipedia overview of Fatehpur Sikri covers the Buland Darwaza, the Jama Masjid, the tomb of Salim Chishti and the palace courtyards. Allow about two hours. Tickets are sold by the Archaeological Survey of India; the ASI website lists its protected monuments. Cars park at the designated lot below the complex and a shuttle or a short walk takes you up.
Bharatpur and Keoladeo
Bharatpur's Keoladeo National Park, another World Heritage Site, is one of Asia's great bird sanctuaries, at its best from November to February when migratory birds arrive. Cars are not allowed inside; you tour it by cycle-rickshaw or bicycle from the gate. A morning here turns the drive into a relaxed two-day trip, billed on 500 km.
The Abhaneri stepwell
The Chand Baori at Abhaneri is a thousand-year-old stepwell of astonishing geometry, a short detour off the highway near Sikandra, with the Harshat Mata temple beside it. Forty-five minutes is enough, and it is usually the highlight people did not expect. Mehandipur Balaji temple, visited by many pilgrims, is also reachable from this stretch.

Rest stops, food and a relaxed two-day version
NH-21 is not lined with the famous dhabas of the Punjab highways, but there are clean, dependable places to stop. Mid-way, the stretch around Mahwa and Sikandra has highway restaurants with good washrooms, and Dausa has several family eateries. Your chauffeur knows which ones are reliable for foreign guests and which serve proper Rajasthani thalis. Carry drinking water, as roadside supplies are patchy between towns, and keep some small change for parking attendants and temple shoe-stands.
If you have an extra day, a slower plan shows far more of the countryside:
- Day one: leave Agra after breakfast, spend the late morning at Fatehpur Sikri, and reach Bharatpur for lunch and an afternoon cycle-rickshaw ride through Keoladeo; stay overnight in Bharatpur.
- Day two: an early birding session if the season is right, then the drive west with stops at Abhaneri and a quiet lunch before reaching Jaipur in the afternoon.
Billed on the 500 km minimum for two days, that costs Rs 18,000 Pay Now to Reserve by sedan or Rs 28,500 Pay Now to Reserve by Innova before GST, plus one night allowance, and you arrive in Jaipur rested rather than road-weary. On a one-way booking, the car is released in Jaipur; on a return, it stays with you for local sightseeing until you head back to Agra.
A few practical notes help the day run smoothly. Keep passports handy if you are a foreign national, because hotels in both states will ask for them at check-in. Monument ticket counters increasingly prefer UPI or cards over cash. And if anyone in your group suffers from motion sickness, the NH-21 is a gentle, flat road, so this is one of the easiest long drives in the Golden Triangle.
Crossing from Uttar Pradesh into Rajasthan
This is an interstate trip. A commercial car registered in Uttar Pradesh pays Rajasthan's state tax when it crosses near Bharatpur, unless it carries a permit that already covers the state. That charge, and the NH-21 tolls, are passed on at exactly the receipt amount with no mark-up. Parking at Fatehpur Sikri, Abhaneri and hotels is also at actual. Nothing else is added apart from 5% GST and, on overnight trips, the driver's night allowance.

Timing the Taj before you leave Agra
The Taj Mahal is closed to general visitors on Fridays, so if your departure day is a Friday, see it the day before. Sunrise visits are popular because the light is soft and the queues are shorter; your driver can take you to the gate at dawn, wait while you visit, bring you back to the hotel for breakfast and check-out, and then start for Jaipur. If you have only one day for Agra and are starting in Delhi, our same-day Agra tour by car or Delhi to Agra taxi may suit you better, with the Jaipur leg booked separately.
Pickups in Agra, drops in Jaipur
We collect from hotels on Fatehabad Road and in the Taj Ganj area, from Agra Cantt and Agra Fort railway stations, from Agra's airport at Kheria, and from any home address in the city. Airport pickups include flight tracking, a name-board welcome, and free waiting of 60 minutes after international arrivals and 30 minutes after domestic ones, with the hourly rate on your booking applying after that.
In Jaipur we drop at hotels in the walled city, C-Scheme, Bani Park and on Amer Road, at Jaipur Junction, at Jaipur airport, or at any address you give us. Staying on? The Jaipur taxi service offers an 8 hour / 80 km local package for Amer Fort, the City Palace, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar, and Rajasthan Tourism's Jaipur guide is handy for timings. Families who want the same chauffeur for all of Rajasthan should look at our Rajasthan tour by car, while daily hire in the Pink City is covered by our car rental with driver in Jaipur. - Families of five or six are best in an Innova Crysta, which also has the ride quality for a full day with sightseeing.
- Foreign tourists on the Golden Triangle often book the whole loop at once; see our Golden Triangle tour by car for a single booking with the same chauffeur from Delhi to Agra to Jaipur and back.
- School trips, office outings and big families travel together in a Tempo Traveller from Agra, an Urbania or a mini bus.
- Business and luxury travellers choose an E-Class or 5 Series; see luxury car rental in Jaipur for local use once you arrive.
