Jaipur is built for group travel: fort-hopping on the Amer ridge, sangeet nights at heritage hotels on the Delhi road, and weekend darshan at Khatu Shyam ji or Salasar Balaji. A tempo traveller in Jaipur from RutzIndia.com carries the whole party in one air-conditioned vehicle with a driver who knows where a long body can and cannot turn inside the walled city. Choose 9, 12, 17, 20 or 26 seats, pay a fixed fare online and get a GST invoice at the end of the trip.
Tempo traveller in Jaipur: fares for 2026
Renting a tempo traveller in Jaipur costs Rs 18,540 Pay Now to Reserve for 8 hours / 80 km of local use, Rs 11,100 Pay Now to Reserve for 4 hours / 40 km and Rs 10,200 Pay Now to Reserve for a Jaipur airport transfer. Outstation trips to Udaipur, Agra or Ranthambore are Rs 78 per km, minimum 250 km a day, plus 5% GST.
Local and airport prices below include Jaipur's city adjustment (0.95 of the national rate card). Per-km outstation rates are the same everywhere in India. The Traveller rates cover 9, 12 and 17 seat bodies; 20 and 26 seat versions are confirmed with a separate quote.
| Group vehicle | Seating | Half day 4 hr / 40 km | Full day 8 hr / 80 km | JAI airport (up to 40 km) | Per km outstation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Force Tempo Traveller | 9, 12, 17 (20, 26 quoted) | Rs 11,100 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 18,540 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 10,200 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 78 |

GST at 5% is added to every fare. Toll plazas, Rajasthan and other state permits or taxes, and parking are billed at the actual amount on the receipt. For overnight tours the driver's night allowance is Rs 1,500 per night, and a round trip out of Jaipur is charged on no less than 250 km per calendar day.

How much is a tempo traveller in Jaipur in 2026?
Fares updated September 2026. For an outstation bill four figures matter: the rate per kilometre, the minimum kilometres charged each day, the driver's night allowance and, for days spent inside the city, the local package. Here they are side by side for every size we run out of Jaipur.
| Jaipur vehicle | Cabin | Per km outside Jaipur | Minimum per calendar day | Driver bata per night | Jaipur full day (8 hr / 80 km) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9 seat Maharaja Traveller | wide captain chairs | Rs 78 | 250 km | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 18,540 Pay Now to Reserve |
| 12 seat Traveller | pushback, 2+1 | Rs 78 | 250 km | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 18,540 Pay Now to Reserve |
| 17 seat Traveller | pushback, 2+1 plus rear bench | Rs 78 | 250 km | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 18,540 Pay Now to Reserve |
| 20 seat Traveller | longer body | price on request | 250 km | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | price on request |
| 26 seat Traveller | 2+2, longest body | price on request | 250 km | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | price on request |
| Force Urbania (up to 17) | individual recliners | Rs 102 | 250 km | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 25,650 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Mini bus (up to 35) | coach seats | Rs 130 | 250 km | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 39,900 Pay Now to Reserve |
How the minimum works in practice: a same-day Khatu Shyam ji darshan covers about 160 km, but the day is billed on 250 km, Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve. A two-day Ranthambore safari weekend driving 360 km is billed on 500 km, Rs 39,000 Pay Now to Reserve, plus one night of bata. A long single day to Agra and back, about 480 km, is billed on the actual 480 km, Rs 37,440 Pay Now to Reserve, with no night allowance.
Every seat size, matched to Jaipur trips
9 seat Maharaja Traveller
Four rows of broad reclining chairs with an aisle, footrests on many units, curtains and individual lights. In Jaipur it is the favourite for three kinds of guests: grandparents on the long Shekhawati temple circuit, foreign visitors on a Rajasthan tour who arrive with large suitcases, and wedding families moving elders between a palace venue and the hotel. Nine passengers leave space inside for nine full-size bags, and the tariff is identical to the 12 and 17 seaters, so you pay only in per-head terms.
12 seat Traveller
The all-round Jaipur choice. It fits two families with luggage, it can enter most hotel driveways in C-Scheme and Bani Park, and it handles the ghat roads to Jaigarh and Nahargarh without drama. It is also the right size for Ranthambore, where resort approach roads are narrow, and for Pushkar, where the drop-off near the ghats is tight. Seat maps and luggage details are on our 12 seater tempo traveller page.
17 seat Traveller
The best price per head for wedding shuttles, society outings and school groups doing Amer, City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Albert Hall in a day. Seventeen adults with day bags travel comfortably; on a multi-day Rajasthan loop we recommend fourteen or fifteen people so the last row is not buried under suitcases. It is also the popular choice for Khatu Shyam ji and Salasar padyatri support groups who carry water, food and first-aid for walkers.
20 seat Traveller
A longer body for plains and highways: the Jaipur-Delhi and Jaipur-Agra expressway routes, the Ajmer road and wedding loops on Tonk Road and the Delhi highway. It is not ideal inside the walled city or at Amer's upper forts. Twenty seaters are quoted individually.
26 seat Traveller
The largest Traveller, used by Jaipur schools and colleges for Chokhi Dhani evenings, Sambhar Lake day trips and educational visits, and by large baraat parties for the ride from the hotel to the venue. With every seat filled there is little room for bags, so it suits day use. For 30 or more guests with luggage, a mini bus on rent or a full-size coach from bus on rent is more comfortable.
When comfort matters more than headcount, a Force Urbania on rent is the premium alternative. For five or six people an Innova Crysta is cheaper again; compare cars on our taxi service in Jaipur page and Innova Crysta on rent.

Trip cost from Jaipur: seven group favourites
Billed kilometres are the higher of the real round-trip distance and 250 km per calendar day, multiplied by the vehicle's per-km rate. GST at 5%, tolls, Rajasthan or other state taxes, parking and driver nights are extra.
| From Jaipur to | Round trip | Days | Billed km | Tempo Traveller | Force Urbania | Mini bus | Bata nights |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Khatu Shyam ji | about 160 km | 1 | 250 km | Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 25,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 33,750 Pay Now to Reserve | 0 |
| Ajmer and Pushkar | about 290 km | 1 | 290 km | Rs 22,620 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 29,580 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 39,150 Pay Now to Reserve | 0 |
| Agra | about 480 km | 1 | 480 km | Rs 37,440 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 48,960 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 64,800 Pay Now to Reserve | 0 |
| Ranthambore | about 360 km | 2 | 500 km | Rs 39,000 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 51,000 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 67,500 Pay Now to Reserve | 1 |
| Jodhpur | about 670 km | 2 | 670 km | Rs 52,260 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 68,340 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 90,450 Pay Now to Reserve | 1 |
| Udaipur | about 790 km | 2 | 790 km | Rs 61,620 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 80,580 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,06,650 Pay Now to Reserve | 1 |
| Jaisalmer | about 1,120 km | 4 | 1,120 km | Rs 87,360 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,14,240 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,51,200 Pay Now to Reserve | 3 |
A group of fourteen sharing the Udaipur trip pays under Rs 4,500 each before extras, far less than rail tickets plus taxis at both ends. Car fares for smaller parties on these corridors are listed on the Jodhpur taxi service and route pages, and our fares page explains the billing rules in full.
Two tips keep these bills predictable. First, count calendar days rather than nights: leaving Jaipur at 5 am on Saturday and returning at 11 pm on Sunday is two days, but returning after midnight makes it three. Second, share the full plan, including side trips such as Abhaneri's stepwell on the Agra road or Bagru's block printers near Ajmer, so the quote reflects the real distance.
Group circuits from the Pink City, with sample fares
Every figure below is Rs 78 per km multiplied by the billable distance, before GST, tolls, permits and driver nights.
- Khatu Shyam ji, about 80 km: a same-day darshan uses about 160 km, so the 250 km daily minimum applies: Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve. Phalgun mela crowds in February and March mean early starts.
- Salasar Balaji, about 170 km: a day return of 340 km costs about Rs 26,520 Pay Now to Reserve. Many groups combine it with Khatu Shyam in one long day.
- Ajmer and Pushkar, about 145 km: a day return of 290 km comes to about Rs 22,620 Pay Now to Reserve. During the Pushkar camel fair in November, parking near the ghats is tight and drivers drop you at the edge of town.
- Mehandipur Balaji, about 100 km: a day trip is billed on the 250 km minimum, Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve.
- Ranthambore, about 180 km to Sawai Madhopur: a two-day safari weekend is billed on 500 km, about Rs 39,000 plus one driver night. Park jeeps and canters are booked separately with the forest department.
- Agra, about 240 km: a Taj day trip bills 480 km, about Rs 37,440 Pay Now to Reserve. The Agra to Jaipur taxi page covers the Fatehpur Sikri and Abhaneri stops en route.
- Udaipur, about 395 km: a two-day return bills 790 km, about Rs 61,620 plus one driver night; most groups add Chittorgarh or Kumbhalgarh. See the Jaipur to Udaipur taxi route guide and our Udaipur tempo traveller service for the return leg.
- Delhi, about 280 km: for airport drops or a one-day return, compare the Delhi to Jaipur taxi fares.
For a week or more across Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur, our Rajasthan tour by car itineraries can be run in a Traveller for the whole group, and the Golden Triangle tour by car links Jaipur with Agra and Delhi.

A seven-day Rajasthan loop from Jaipur, day by day
For families with a week, a Traveller turns the classic desert circuit into a relaxed road trip. Distances are approximate.
- Day 1, Jaipur sightseeing (local). Amer Fort in the morning, Jal Mahal and the City Palace after lunch, the Patrika Gate and Birla Mandir at dusk.
- Day 2, Jaipur to Pushkar and Jodhpur (about 345 km). A stop at Pushkar's Brahma temple and ghats, then on to Jodhpur for the evening.
- Day 3, Jodhpur (local). Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and the clock-tower market; many groups add Umaid Bhawan's museum.
- Day 4, Jodhpur to Jaisalmer (about 285 km). Arrive in time for sunset at Gadisar Lake.
- Day 5, Jaisalmer and the Sam dunes (about 90 km). The golden fort and havelis, then a camel ride and cultural evening at a desert camp.
- Day 6, Jaisalmer to Jodhpur or Bikaner (about 285 to 330 km). A long but easy highway day.
- Day 7, back to Jaipur (about 335 km). Leave early to arrive before the evening traffic on the Ajmer road.
The real distance is about 1,700 km, and seven days carry a floor of 1,750 km, so the Traveller bill is about Rs 1,36,500 plus six driver nights, tolls and GST. Split among fourteen people that is roughly Rs 9,750 each before extras. Our Rajasthan tour by car page has more variations.
Khatu Shyam ji and Salasar melas: how group trips work
The two great Shekhawati shrines draw pilgrims from across India, and Jaipur is where most groups assemble. The Phalgun Lakhi mela at Khatu Shyam ji, which runs for several days before the Phalgun Shukla Ekadashi in February or March, is the biggest event, and the district administration creates one-way systems and vehicle holding areas outside the town. Traveller groups are typically stopped at a parking ground a few kilometres out and continue on foot or by shuttle, so plan comfortable footwear and a meeting point the driver can find again in the crowd.
Salasar Balaji is busiest on Tuesdays and Saturdays and during the Chaitra and Ashwin Purnima fairs. A single-day Khatu Shyam and Salasar combination covers roughly 400 km and is billed on actual distance, about Rs 31,200 Pay Now to Reserve in a Traveller. Many families prefer an overnight stay in one of the dharamshalas so that elders are not rushed; that turns the trip into a two-day booking billed on 500 km, about Rs 39,000 Pay Now to Reserve, plus a night of bata.
Padyatri support groups walking from Jaipur to Khatu Shyam ji book a Traveller to carry water, food, medicines and tired walkers, moving slowly behind the group. These are quoted on hours and kilometres combined, so tell us the planned walking stages and start time.
Chokhi Dhani nights, dinner outings and city evenings
Jaipur's evenings are made for groups. Chokhi Dhani, the ethnic village resort on Tonk Road about 20 km south of the centre, is a favourite for family dinners, office parties and tourist groups, with folk dance, puppet shows and a Rajasthani thali. A 4 hour / 40 km package at Rs 11,100 Pay Now to Reserve usually covers the round trip and the evening. Other popular evening runs are the light and sound show at Amer, the illuminated Nahargarh ramparts at sunset, dinner at the rooftop restaurants around Hawa Mahal, and shopping at the Johari Bazaar jewellers or the textile stores of MI Road. After 9 pm the old city empties quickly and a large vehicle can park closer to the bazaar gates.
Conferences, corporate groups and schools in Jaipur
Conferences and exhibitions. The Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre at Sitapura, the convention halls at the big hotels on Tonk Road and JLN Marg, and the Birla Auditorium host trade fairs, medical conferences and gem and jewellery shows. We run Traveller and Urbania shuttles between delegate hotels and the venue on fixed loops, with a GST invoice on the organiser's company details and payment by card, UPI or bank transfer. For repeat corporate travel, see corporate car rental.
Industry visits. Companies in Sitapura, Mahindra World City and the RIICO industrial areas book Travellers for client plant tours and team outings to Samode, Neemrana and Ranthambore.
Schools and colleges. Educational trips to Jantar Mantar, the Albert Hall museum, Birla Planetarium and Sambhar Lake are usually done in 17 or 26 seat Travellers. We ask for a teacher's name and a passenger list with each booking, and we plan pickups inside school campuses where the gate allows.
Palace weddings and events in Jaipur
Jaipur hosts a large share of India's destination weddings, from heritage havelis in the old city to palace resorts on the Delhi and Ajmer highways and farmhouses around Kukas and Jagatpura. Guest logistics are where these weddings succeed or fail. A typical three-day function with 150 outstation guests needs guests met at Jaipur airport and Jaipur Junction, shuttles between two or three hotels and the venue for each event, and a late-night return after the reception.
We plan these as a fleet: several 12 and 17 seat Travellers on fixed loops, an Urbania for the family elders, and a car for the couple from our Jaipur wedding car rental or luxury car rental in Jaipur range. Each vehicle gets a run sheet with timings and a coordinator number, and the family receives one consolidated GST invoice. Wedding season runs from November to February, with another bump around Akshaya Tritiya in spring; popular muhurat weekends need four to eight weeks of notice.
Driving a big vehicle in the walled city and at Amer
The old city's bazaars around Johari Bazaar, Bapu Bazaar and Tripolia were laid out for camels and carts, not 26 seat bodies. Our drivers drop groups at the gates, for example Sanganeri Gate or Chandpol, and meet you at a pre-agreed point rather than circling for a parking spot. Hawa Mahal is best seen from the street early in the morning before traffic builds.
At Amer Fort the coach park sits below the fort; visitors walk up the ramp or take a jeep. Jaigarh and Nahargarh are reached by narrow, winding ghat roads that a 12 or 17 seat Traveller handles comfortably, but a 26 seat body is better left at the base. The city's major monuments are managed by the state archaeology department; opening times, composite tickets and the evening light shows are listed on Rajasthan Tourism. Plan around Jaipur's festivals too: Makar Sankranti kite flying in January, the Jaipur Literature Festival in late January, Gangaur and Teej processions that close old-city roads, and Diwali when the bazaars are lit and gridlocked in the evening.
Season-by-season planning for Jaipur groups
October to March is the comfortable window, with cool mornings that make a 7 am start at Amer pleasant and daytime temperatures ideal for walking the City Palace courtyards. It is also when hotels, guides and vehicles are busiest, so book early. December nights on the Shekhawati road towards Khatu Shyam ji and Salasar can dip close to freezing; carry shawls for elders in the back rows.
April to June is fierce. Afternoon temperatures regularly climb past 40 degrees, and the Traveller's roof-mounted AC earns its keep. Schedule forts and outdoor sites before 11 am, spend the afternoon at Albert Hall, the Birla Mandir or a mall, and resume after 5 pm. Summer is also the quietest period for fares and availability, which suits school groups and families on a budget.
July to September brings the monsoon. Jaipur's lakes fill, Jal Mahal looks its best and the Aravalli hills turn green, but short cloudbursts flood underpasses such as those near the railway lines. Drivers reroute around waterlogged stretches, and a little extra time should be kept in hand for the airport.
For groups flying in from abroad in peak season, our car rental with driver in Jaipur team can add a sedan for early departures while the Traveller follows the main plan.
Regular, Maharaja or Urbania: cabin choices in Jaipur
Operators in Jaipur use a lot of labels, so here is what you actually get from RutzIndia.com under each name.
Regular Traveller. Pushback seats covered in easy-clean fabric or leatherette, roof-mounted AC ducts that reach the back row, a music system, reading lights and mobile charging. This is the working vehicle for pilgrimages, sightseeing and wedding shuttles, and it is what the Rs 78 per km and Rs 18,540 day rates buy in the 12 and 17 seat versions.
Maharaja Traveller. Nine large reclining chairs in place of twelve or seventeen standard seats, usually with curtains, softer upholstery and extra legroom. In a city where many visitors spend four to six hours a day on the road between forts and palaces, the extra comfort is noticeable, and the per-km rate does not change.
Force Urbania. A newer design that rides more like a large car: independent reclining seats, individual AC vents, lower noise and a smoother ride over the speed breakers and patchy stretches of Rajasthan's state highways. At Rs 102 per km and Rs 25,650 for a Jaipur day, it is the choice for delegations, wedding VIPs and premium tour groups.
Whatever the cabin, the vehicle is within four model years, is cleaned before each pickup and carries a first-aid kit. Smoking and alcohol are not permitted inside, the driver decides on safety matters such as night driving on narrow Shekhawati roads, and the roof carrier is loaded within its limit and covered against dust and rain. Tell us about wheelchairs, strollers or large musical instruments in advance so we can plan space.
Tempo traveller vs cars, trains and buses from Jaipur
| For 13 people, Jaipur to Udaipur and back | Approximate cost basis | Door to door | Sightseeing stops en route | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One 17 seat Traveller | Rs 61,620 Pay Now to Reserve for 2 days plus tolls, bata and GST | Yes | Chittorgarh, Nathdwara, anywhere | Families and friends travelling together |
| Three sedans at Rs 36 per km | Rs 108 per km across three cars | Yes | Yes, but the group splits | Very small groups |
| Train plus local taxis | Tickets per head, taxis at both ends | No | No | Two or three travellers |
| State or private bus | Lowest per head | No | No | Budget solo travel |
The Traveller wins on cost once you are above eight people, and on convenience from the first kilometre: no station transfers, no waiting for three cars at every fort gate, one driver who knows the group's plan.
Areas we serve in and around Jaipur
We pick up at the Jaipur rate card from Vaishali Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Mansarovar, C-Scheme, Bani Park, Civil Lines, Raja Park, Jawahar Nagar, Tonk Road, Sanganer, Pratap Nagar, Jagatpura, Sitapura, Durgapura, Sodala, Shyam Nagar, Vidhyadhar Nagar, Jhotwara, Amer, Kukas, Chomu Road and Ajmer Road, as well as all hotels in the walled city. Railway groups are met at Jaipur Junction, Gandhinagar and Durgapura stations, and bus groups at Sindhi Camp.
Driver bata, Rajasthan taxes and road notes
Night allowance. When the Traveller stays out overnight, the driver's bata is Rs 1,500 per night; desert camps and many heritage hotels have drivers' quarters that keep this at the lower end.
Taxes and permits. A Rajasthan-registered tourist vehicle crossing into Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat or Madhya Pradesh may pay a border tax or permit fee. We pay it and add the receipted amount. Trips inside Rajasthan normally have no state tax.
Roads. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway spur, NH48 towards Ajmer and Kishangarh, and the Agra road are tolled. The Shekhawati roads to Khatu Shyam ji and Salasar are two-lane and busy during melas; drivers slow down for camel carts and tractors, especially after dark.
Heat and water. From April to June carry drinking water and cover your head at open forts; the driver will keep the AC running during stops where it is safe to do so.
The national tourism board's destination guides for Rajasthan are on Incredible India, useful for planning Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Bikaner days.
Pickup points, luggage and the airport
We pick up from homes and hotels anywhere in Jaipur, from Vaishali Nagar and Malviya Nagar to Mansarovar, C-Scheme, Jagatpura and the resorts on the Delhi road. Railway groups are met outside Jaipur Junction or Gandhinagar station.
Jaipur International Airport sits in Sanganer, about 13 km south of the city centre; terminal and flight information is on the Airports Authority of India Jaipur page. The Traveller driver tracks your flight and waits with a name board, with the first 60 minutes free after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one. Beyond that, waiting is charged at the hourly rate.
A 12 seater swallows a medium suitcase and a cabin bag per passenger, with a roof carrier for overflow. Wedding trousseau trunks, band equipment or safari camera kit need a word in advance so we can send a larger boot or an extra vehicle.
How booking, payment and cancellation work
Type your itinerary into the online booking form: pickup point, date and time, seat count and the places you want to visit. You will see a fixed fare, pay an advance by card or UPI and receive the vehicle number and driver details the evening before. Multi-vehicle weddings and tours longer than three days get a written quote from the desk; WhatsApp the desk or call us with your guest list.
The fare covers the vehicle, fuel, AC, the driver's wages and his meals on local duties. Tolls, state permits and taxes and parking are added at cost, and outstation trips add the nightly driver allowance. All vehicles are within four model years. Cancelling more than 72 hours before pickup costs nothing; inside 72 hours we retain 10%, inside 48 hours 50%, and inside 24 hours or on a no-show 100%. Full terms are on the cancellation policy page.
