Udaipur's lakes, palaces and Aravalli hills have made it one of India's favourite wedding and holiday cities, and nearly every visit involves moving a group: guests from Dabok airport to lakeside hotels, cousins from the sangeet venue to the mehendi, or a family of eleven to Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur in one long, happy day. A tempo traveller in Udaipur from RutzIndia.com handles those moves with one air-conditioned vehicle and a driver who knows which old-city lanes a long body can take. Choose 9, 12, 17, 20 or 26 seats, see the fare upfront and pay by card or UPI.
Udaipur tempo traveller rent, explained
A tempo traveller on rent in Udaipur costs Rs 10,740 Pay Now to Reserve for a Dabok airport transfer, Rs 11,700 Pay Now to Reserve for a 4 hour / 40 km city tour and Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve for 8 hours / 80 km. Day trips to Kumbhalgarh, Ranakpur or Chittorgarh are Rs 78 per km with 250 km as the daily minimum, so from Rs 19,500 plus 5% GST.
Udaipur is on our standard city rate for local hire and airport runs. Kilometre rates for trips outside the city are the same across India. The Traveller figures apply to the 9, 12 and 17 seat models; 20 and 26 seat Travellers are quoted separately.
| Udaipur trip | Mini bus (20 / 27 / 35 seats) | Force Urbania (10 / 13 / 17 seats) | Tempo Traveller (9 / 12 / 17 seats) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dabok airport to or from the city (up to 40 km) | Rs 23,100 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 14,850 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 10,740 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Lake city tour, 4 hr / 40 km | Rs 25,200 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 16,200 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 11,700 Pay Now to Reserve |

Add GST at 5% to every figure. Highway tolls, permits or taxes for Gujarat or other states, and parking at palaces, ghats and temples are billed at actual cost. The driver's overnight allowance of Rs 1,500 per night applies on tours, and round trips are charged on a floor of 250 km per calendar day.

Destination weddings on the lakes
Few cities host weddings the way Udaipur does. Palace hotels on Lake Pichola, heritage properties around Fateh Sagar and resorts on the Nathdwara, Kodiyat and Badi roads host functions that run over three or four days with guests flying in from across India and abroad. Guest transport is often the hardest part to get right, because venues are spread out, some are reached by boat, and the old city lanes are narrow.
How we plan a wedding fleet in Udaipur:
- Arrivals. Travellers meet guests at Maharana Pratap Airport, Dabok, and Udaipur City railway station, with a name board and a guest list, and drop them at their hotels.
- Function loops. Each Traveller works a fixed loop between two or three hotels and the venue, with a written timetable. We usually allow one 12 or 17 seat vehicle per 12 to 15 guests per shift.
- Jetty drops. Where the function is on an island or a lake-facing palace, drivers drop guests at the designated jetty and collect them there after the event.
- Elders and VIPs. An Urbania or an Innova on standby for grandparents and family elders, and a showpiece car for the couple from our luxury car rental in Udaipur or vintage car for wedding collections.
- Departures. Airport drops scheduled in batches according to flight times on the last day.
The family receives one GST invoice for the whole fleet. Wedding season runs from November to February and again around spring muhurat dates; peak weekends at the big palaces are booked months ahead, so reserve vehicles as soon as the venue is confirmed. See our national wedding car rental page for decorated cars and baraat options.
A lake-city wedding, hour by hour
Here is how a typical three-day Udaipur wedding uses a Traveller fleet, and why timetables matter more than vehicle count.
- Arrival day. Guests land at Dabok in waves between late morning and evening. Travellers meet each flight with a name board and guest list, and a coordinator phone number goes to every guest by WhatsApp. Evening welcome dinner at the main hotel needs one short loop from the overflow hotel.
- Day two. Morning haldi and mehendi by the pool, often at the hotel itself, so vehicles rest. Late afternoon, guests move to the sangeet venue, perhaps a lakeside lawn on the Fateh Sagar side or a resort on the Badi road; Travellers run two loops thirty minutes apart. Return runs start after midnight for families with children and continue until the last guests leave.
- Day three. The baraat forms outside the groom's hotel, the pheras follow at the palace or island venue, where guests are dropped at the jetty, and the reception runs late into the night.
- Departure day. Batched airport drops matched to flight times, with a buffer for the Dabok security queue.
We usually recommend a 12 hour / 120 km plan at Rs 32,370 Pay Now to Reserve per Traveller on the two main function days and the 8 hour plan on arrival and departure days.

Nathdwara and Shrinathji darshan
Nathdwara, about 50 km north on the Rajsamand road, is one of Rajasthan's most visited temples. Shrinathji gives darshan in short jhankis through the day, from the early mangla to the evening shayan, with closures between them, so timing a group visit matters more than distance. The Traveller parks at the town's designated parking and the group walks the last stretch through the market, which is narrow and crowded on festival days such as Janmashtami, Annakut after Diwali and Holi. Many families combine Nathdwara with Eklingji, Haldighati's museum and the Rajsamand lake in one day, which fits the 250 km floor at Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve.
Day trips across Mewar
Every figure below multiplies the chargeable kilometres by Rs 78 for a Traveller; GST, tolls, parking and entry tickets are extra.
- Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur, about 85 and 95 km: the fort with its 36 km wall and the marble Jain temple can be done in one day on a loop of about 230 km, which falls under the one-day floor: Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve. Ranakpur's temple opens to non-Jain visitors from around noon, so we sequence Kumbhalgarh first.
- Chittorgarh, about 115 km: India's largest fort complex, with Vijay Stambh and Padmini's palace, is a Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve day on the 250 km minimum.
- Nathdwara, Eklingji and Haldighati, about 50, 22 and 45 km: Shrinathji darshan runs in short jhankis through the day; a loop covering all three fits a local 8 hour / 80 km package or a 250 km outstation day.
- Jaisamand Lake, about 50 km, and Dungarpur, about 110 km, are quieter options for repeat visitors.
- Jawai, about 140 km: leopard country around the granite hills; a two-day trip is billed on 500 km, about Rs 39,000 plus a driver night.
Before the day trips, most visitors spend a day on the lakes themselves. A comfortable sequence on the eight-hour city plan: the City Palace museum as it opens, Jagdish Temple a short walk away, lunch near Lake Pichola, then Saheliyon ki Bari's fountains, the Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal puppet collection and the Vintage and Classic Car Museum, finishing with a boat ride or the sunset from Ambrai Ghat. The Traveller shuttles the group between each stop so nobody walks the hot midday stretches, which matters from April to June when temperatures cross 40 degrees.

A four-day Mewar and Marwar loop from Udaipur
- Day 1, Udaipur to Kumbhalgarh (about 85 km). A late-morning start, the fort's ramparts in the afternoon light and the evening sound-and-light show; stay at one of the hill resorts below the walls.
- Day 2, Kumbhalgarh to Ranakpur and Jodhpur (about 200 km). The marble Chaumukha temple at Ranakpur when it opens to visitors around noon, then on to Jodhpur by evening.
- Day 3, Jodhpur. Mehrangarh, Jaswant Thada, the stepwell at Toorji ka Jhalra and the Sardar market by the clock tower.
- Day 4, Jodhpur to Udaipur (about 250 km). Back through the Aravallis, home by late afternoon.
The loop is roughly 560 km, but four days carry a 1,000 km floor, so a Traveller costs Rs 78,000 plus three allowance nights, tolls and GST. Groups who want better value add Mount Abu or Jawai inside the same floor.
Jaisamand, Rishabhdeo and the southern side
Repeat visitors who have seen the famous sights head south-east and south. Jaisamand, one of Asia's largest artificial lakes, about 50 km away, has marble chhatris on its embankment and a wildlife sanctuary beside it. The Jain temple at Rishabhdeo (Kesariyaji), about 65 km south on the Ahmedabad highway, draws pilgrims from Gujarat and Rajasthan, and Dungarpur's Juna Mahal and Gaib Sagar lake reward a longer day. Jaisamand plus Rishabhdeo fits inside the 250 km floor, Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve in a Traveller.
Longer circuits from Udaipur
- Mount Abu, about 165 km: a two-day trip with Dilwara temples and Nakki Lake is billed on 500 km, around Rs 39,000 plus a driver night.
- Jodhpur, about 250 km: a two-day trip via Ranakpur is also billed on about 500 km. For taxis once you get there, see the Jodhpur taxi service.
- Jaipur, about 395 km: a one-way run or a two-day return billed on 790 km, about Rs 61,620 Pay Now to Reserve; our Jaipur tempo traveller team can handle the Jaipur end, and car fares are on Jaipur to Udaipur taxi.
- Ahmedabad, about 260 km: many Gujarati families drive over for weekends and weddings; see tempo traveller in Ahmedabad for trips starting there.
For week-long Rajasthan loops through Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Jaipur, our Rajasthan tour by car itineraries can be run in a Traveller for the whole group.
Corporate retreats and incentive groups
Udaipur's lakeside resorts are a favourite for company offsites, dealer meets and incentive trips. A typical corporate programme combines airport transfers, a conference day at the resort, a heritage evening at the City Palace or a boat cruise, and a half-day excursion to Nathdwara, Eklingji or the Monsoon Palace. We run Travellers and Urbanias on a timed plan, bill the company's GSTIN on a single invoice and accept card, UPI or bank payment. For senior guests, sedans and luxury cars can join the same booking through our travel desk.
NRI families and overseas guests
Families flying in from the Gulf, the UK, the US or East Africa often use Udaipur as the base for a longer Rajasthan holiday combined with a family function. A Maharaja or 12 seat Traveller with room for large suitcases, a chauffeur who knows the heritage hotels, and flexible daily plans suit these trips well. For the days before and after the group portion, our NRI car hire in India service can provide a sedan or SUV with a chauffeur in other cities.
The desert extension: Jaisalmer and the dunes
Groups with an extra three or four days often continue from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer, about 285 km beyond, for the golden fort, the havelis and a night at a Sam or Khuri dune camp. Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and back to Udaipur by way of Jodhpur runs to roughly 1,300 km, which over six days is billed on the 1,500 km floor, Rs 1,17,000 Pay Now to Reserve in a Traveller, plus five allowance nights, tolls and GST. The desert is best from October to March; summer days are extremely hot.
Wedding luggage, outfits and decor
Wedding groups carry far more than holidaymakers: lehengas and sherwanis in garment bags, jewellery cases, gift hampers, return favours and sometimes decor or sound equipment. Garment bags travel best laid flat on the rear seats or hung inside, never in the roof carrier. Tell us in advance about trunks, heavy decor or musical instruments so we can send a vehicle with the rear seats folded or a separate luggage run, and keep valuables with you rather than in the parked vehicle during functions.
Schools, colleges and study tours
Udaipur is a popular study-tour city for architecture, hospitality and history students, and local schools use Travellers for excursions to Sajjangarh's biological park, the Bagore ki Haveli museum, Shilpgram and the solar observatory on Fateh Sagar. A 26 seat Traveller or a 27 seat mini bus carries most class groups. For every student trip we ask for a travelling teacher, a passenger list with emergency contacts and a fixed schedule, and we avoid driving student groups on hill roads after dark.
Old city lanes, ghats and parking
Udaipur's most photographed streets, around Jagdish Temple, Gangaur Ghat, Lal Ghat and Hanuman Ghat, are narrow and steep, and many heritage hotels sit at the end of lanes no Traveller can enter. Our drivers drop guests at the nearest permitted point, usually near Jagdish Chowk or Chandpole, and arrange a short walk or an auto for the last stretch with heavy bags. At the City Palace the coach area is near the main gate; ticketing, museum hours and the palace's own event information are on the City Palace, Udaipur website.
Sajjangarh (the Monsoon Palace) sits inside a wildlife sanctuary on a steep hill; longer vehicles typically stop at the sanctuary gate, from where visitors continue by the local shuttle. Fateh Sagar's lakeside road is busy in the evenings with families and snack stalls, so we time pickups early. Local information, including district notices on fairs and road diversions, is on the Udaipur district website.
Festival dates matter here too. The Mewar Festival around Gangaur in spring brings processions to the ghats, Shilpgram Utsav in late December fills the craft village on the Badi road, and Diwali lights up the lakes. Expect slower traffic near the old city on these dates.
Regular, Maharaja or Urbania for Udaipur
Regular Traveller. Pushback seats in a 2+1 layout, roof AC outlets over every row, reading lights, USB charging and a music system; it is the backbone of wedding fleets and sightseeing days.
Maharaja Traveller. The same van fitted with nine large recliners, curtains and more legroom, priced like the standard body. Guests in heavy wedding outfits find it far easier to get in and out.
Force Urbania. Individual reclining seats with personal vents, lower noise and a smoother ride on the Aravalli roads, at Rs 102 a kilometre and Rs 27,000 Pay Now to Reserve for an 8 hour city day; wedding planners use it for the families of the couple.
Every vehicle is no older than four model years, is washed before each duty and carries a medical kit. Smoking and drinking are not allowed in the cabin, which also keeps wedding clothes free of smoke, and the chauffeur makes the final call on safety, including night driving on hill roads to Kumbhalgarh.
When to visit, and the monsoon
Udaipur's comfortable season runs from October to March, which is also wedding season. April to June is hot, so plan outdoor sightseeing for the early morning and late afternoon. The monsoon, from July to September, fills Pichola and Fateh Sagar, turns the Aravallis green and brings the Sajjangarh hills into cloud; it is a quiet, beautiful time for families, with lower demand and easy vehicle availability.
Tempo traveller vs cars, trains and buses in and out of Udaipur
| 14 wedding guests, Dabok airport to lake hotels and back plus a sightseeing day | How it works | Stays together? | Luggage | Timing control |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One 17 seat Traveller | Two airport transfers at Rs 10,740 plus one 8 hour day at Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Yes | Inside plus roof carrier | Fully in your hands |
| Four airport taxis each way | Four fares per trip, several drivers | No | Car boots | Hard to coordinate |
| Autos and local cabs for sightseeing | Per-ride fares at every stop | No | Not practical | Unpredictable |
For couples, a sedan is simpler. For a family or a wedding group, a Traveller costs less per head and keeps everyone on the same timetable.
Areas we serve in Udaipur
Pickups at the Udaipur rate card from the old city around Jagdish Chowk, Chandpole, Gangaur Ghat, Lal Ghat and Hanuman Ghat (from the nearest permitted point), Fateh Sagar, Ambamata, Sukhadia Circle, Fatehpura, Bhupalpura, Hiran Magri, Sector 4, Sector 11, Sector 14, Shobhagpura, Pratap Nagar, Goverdhan Vilas, Bedla, Badi, Kodiyat, Rani Road, Chetak Circle, Surajpole, Debari and Dabok, plus the resorts on the Nathdwara, Kumbhalgarh and Ahmedabad highways.
Allowance, state taxes and road notes for Udaipur trips
Allowance. Each night away from Udaipur adds 750 to 1,500 rupees for the chauffeur; heritage hotels at Kumbhalgarh and Mount Abu usually have drivers' rooms.
State taxes. Trips inside Rajasthan normally carry no state tax. Crossing into Gujarat for Ahmedabad, Ambaji or the Statue of Unity, or into Madhya Pradesh, may involve a border tax or permit fee, added at the receipted amount.
Roads. The Udaipur-Ahmedabad and Udaipur-Chittorgarh highways are tolled four-lane roads; the Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur roads are narrower and winding through the Aravallis, where we avoid driving after dark. National tourism information on Rajasthan's heritage circuits is on Incredible India.
Airport and railway pickups
Maharana Pratap Airport at Dabok is about 22 km east of the city, typically a 35 to 45 minute drive to the lake hotels. The Rs 10,740 Pay Now to Reserve Traveller transfer covers most of the city and the resorts within 40 km; properties further out on the Kumbhalgarh or Nathdwara roads add per-km charges. The driver follows your flight, meets you with a name board and allows 60 minutes free after an international arrival and 30 minutes after a domestic one, then bills waiting hourly. Rail groups are met outside Udaipur City station. For couples or small families, the Udaipur taxi service has sedans and SUVs at lower fares.

Which Traveller for which Udaipur job
9 seat Maharaja Traveller
Nine armchair-style recliners and a wide aisle. At Udaipur weddings it becomes the grandparents' car: they can sit back between the hotel, the venue and the jetty without climbing over anyone. Foreign couples and NRI families on a Rajasthan honeymoon-plus-family tour choose it too, because each passenger also gets space for a full-size suitcase. The kilometre rate does not change.
12 seat Traveller
The most sensible size in Udaipur, where hotel approaches are steep and narrow. It reaches most resorts on the Badi and Kodiyat roads, handles the Kumbhalgarh climb easily and fits the lanes near Chandpole better than any longer body. Details and seat plans are on the 12 seater tempo traveller page.
17 seat Traveller
The workhorse for wedding loops and school groups. Seventeen guests in wedding clothes and day bags ride comfortably between hotel and venue; for outstation tours with suitcases, fourteen or fifteen is kinder.
20 seat Traveller
For the wide roads: the Ahmedabad and Chittorgarh highways, the airport road and resorts on the Nathdwara stretch. Not for the old city. Priced by quotation.
26 seat Traveller
For baraat parties, college groups and one-day outings with little luggage. For thirty or more with bags, a mini bus on rent or a coach through bus on rent works better, and for four to six guests an Innova Crysta on rent is the economical choice.
What each popular trip from Udaipur costs
Here is the bill for seven common group trips. The distance charged is the actual round trip or 250 km per calendar day, whichever is more; tolls, state taxes outside Rajasthan, parking, allowance nights and 5% GST are added separately.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
