Gujarati families travel together, and they travel far: a Dwarka and Somnath yatra with three generations, a Rann Utsav trip with the whole society, or a wedding where half the guests fly in from New Jersey and London. A tempo traveller in Ahmedabad is the natural fit, and RutzIndia.com supplies AC Force Travellers with 9, 12, 17, 20 and 26 seats, driven by chauffeurs who know Saurashtra's highways, the Kutch roads and the lanes of the old walled city. You get a fixed fare before you pay, a GST invoice after the trip, and one point of contact throughout.
Ahmedabad tempo traveller rates, 2026
In Ahmedabad a full local day (8 hours, 80 km) in a Traveller is Rs 18,540 Pay Now to Reserve; a shorter half day (4 hours, 40 km) is Rs 11,100 Pay Now to Reserve; and an SVPI airport run is Rs 10,200 Pay Now to Reserve. Out-of-town trips such as Dwarka, Somnath or Ekta Nagar are charged at Rs 78 a kilometre, never less than 250 km a day. GST of 5% is extra.
Our Gujarat rate card sits five per cent below the Delhi base for local hire and airport runs, while kilometre rates for highway travel are the same nationwide. Quoted Traveller prices are for the common 9, 12 and 17 seat versions; ask us for the larger 20 and 26 seat bodies, which are priced one by one.
| Vehicle | Full day (8 hr, 80 km) | Highway rate | Half day (4 hr, 40 km) | Airport run up to 40 km | Seat layouts |

Prices shown do not include GST at 5%. Expressway and highway tolls, the permit or tax levied when a tourist vehicle enters Rajasthan or Maharashtra, and any parking fee are added exactly as paid. On tours with overnight halts, the driver is paid Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve for each night, and the kilometre bill for a round trip is never lower than 250 km multiplied by the number of calendar days.

The Saurashtra pilgrim circuit: Dwarka, Somnath and beyond
This is the trip that Ahmedabad families book most often in a Traveller, and it is where the vehicle earns its fare over cars. A typical five-day loop runs Ahmedabad, Dwarka (about 440 km), Nageshwar and Bet Dwarka, Porbandar, Somnath (about 230 km from Dwarka), and back via Junagadh or Virpur (about 410 km from Somnath to Ahmedabad). The driving adds up to roughly 1,150 to 1,250 km, and a five-day round trip is billed on at least 1,250 km, which puts a 12 or 17 seat Traveller at roughly Rs 97,500 Pay Now to Reserve before four nights of driver allowance, tolls and GST. Split across fourteen pilgrims, that is a little over Rs 6,900 each before GST and extras.
Useful planning notes:
- Somnath holds its evening aarti and light-and-sound show near the sea; darshan timings and accommodation are published by the Shree Somnath Trust.
- Bet Dwarka is reached by the Sudarshan Setu bridge; the Traveller parks at the Okha side or on the island as directed.
- Janmashtami in August and Kartik Purnima fill Dwarka and Somnath; book vehicles and rooms a month ahead.
- Gir National Park (Sasan Gir), about 360 km: add a night between Somnath and Junagadh for a lion safari; permits are booked online with the forest department.
- Palitana, about 215 km: the Shatrunjaya hill temples need an early climb; the Traveller waits at the foothills.
For senior pilgrims who prefer a car, our pilgrimage taxi packages run the same circuit in Innovas and sedans.
Weekend and day trips from Ahmedabad
The sums below multiply the chargeable kilometres by Rs 78; GST, tolls, state permits, parking and any driver nights come on top.
- Statue of Unity, Ekta Nagar, about 200 km: a long day return of 400 km is about Rs 31,200 Pay Now to Reserve; staying overnight for the laser show moves you to the two-day floor of 500 km, around Rs 39,000 Pay Now to Reserve. Tickets, time slots and the valley-of-flowers attractions are listed on the Statue of Unity website.
- Rani ki Vav (Patan) and Modhera Sun Temple, about 125 km: both in one day, roughly 260 km, about Rs 20,280 Pay Now to Reserve.
- Ambaji, about 180 km: a day trip of 360 km, about Rs 28,080 Pay Now to Reserve; Bhadarvi Poonam crowds in September close roads near the temple.
- Pavagadh and Champaner, about 150 km: a day return of 300 km, about Rs 23,400 Pay Now to Reserve; the ropeway queue is shortest early morning.
- Nal Sarovar and Thol: winter bird-watching outings from November to February fall under the one-day floor, so Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve.
- Rann of Kutch (Dhordo), about 400 km: Rann Utsav runs roughly November to February; a three-day trip typically covers 850 to 900 km, about Rs 58,500 Pay Now to Reserve. The white desert is best on a full-moon night.
- Mount Abu, about 225 km, and Udaipur, about 260 km: two-day trips billed on about 500 to 520 km, roughly Rs 33,800 Pay Now to Reserve, plus Rajasthan permit charges. Our Udaipur tempo traveller team can pick up the onward leg.
- Saputara, about 400 km: best in the monsoon, when the Sahyadri hills are green; three days is comfortable.
For car-sized groups on the same routes, see outstation cabs or the Ahmedabad taxi service.

The five-day Saurashtra yatra, day by day
- Day 1, Ahmedabad to Dwarka (about 440 km). Leave at dawn via Bagodara, Limbdi and Jamnagar, with breakfast at a highway kathiyawadi stop and lunch near Jamnagar. Evening aarti at Dwarkadhish and the Gomti ghat.
- Day 2, Bet Dwarka and Nageshwar (about 70 km). Cross the Sudarshan Setu to Bet Dwarka, visit the Nageshwar jyotirlinga and Rukmini temple, and watch sunset at the lighthouse.
- Day 3, Dwarka to Porbandar and Somnath (about 235 km). Kirti Mandir in Porbandar, then the coastal road to Somnath for the evening aarti and the light-and-sound show.
- Day 4, Somnath and Gir or Junagadh (about 100 to 140 km). Bhalka Tirth and Triveni Sangam in the morning, then either a Sasan Gir safari (permits booked online) or the Girnar ropeway and Uparkot fort in Junagadh.
- Day 5, back to Ahmedabad (about 330 to 410 km). Via Virpur's Jalaram temple and Rajkot, home by evening.
Real driving is roughly 1,200 to 1,250 km, billed on the five-day floor of 1,250 km: about Rs 97,500 Pay Now to Reserve in a Traveller, plus four nights of allowance, tolls, parking and GST.
Rann Utsav in three days
- Day 1, Ahmedabad to Bhuj and Dhordo (about 400 to 440 km). Leave early via Malia and the Surajbari bridge, lunch near Bhachau, and reach the tent city or a Dhordo homestay by late afternoon for the first sunset on the white salt.
- Day 2, the Great Rann and Kalo Dungar (about 150 km). The Black Hill viewpoint over the Rann, the craft villages of Hodka, Nirona and Bhujodi for rogan art, bell-metal work and weaving, and the full-moon night on the salt if your dates align. The Rann area requires a permit, which is issued locally or online.
- Day 3, Bhuj and back to Ahmedabad (about 400 km). The Aina Mahal and Prag Mahal in Bhuj in the morning, then home by night.
Driving totals roughly 880 to 950 km, billed on actual distance: about Rs 61,750 Pay Now to Reserve in a Traveller, plus two nights of allowance, tolls and GST. Rann Utsav runs roughly from November to February, and tent bookings for full-moon weekends go early.

Jain tirth circuits: Palitana, Shankheshwar and Taranga
Ahmedabad's Jain families often travel together to the great tirths. Palitana, about 215 km away, is the most important, with the Shatrunjaya hill temples reached by a climb of several thousand steps; the Traveller waits at Taleti, the foothills, and many groups stay overnight in a dharamshala. Shankheshwar, about 120 km, and Taranga, about 140 km, make a comfortable day each, and Girnar near Junagadh combines well with a Saurashtra trip. For Palitana, a two-day trip covering about 430 km is billed on the 500 km floor, Rs 39,000 Pay Now to Reserve, plus one night of allowance. Please tell us about dietary needs for meal stops, and our drivers will choose pure-vegetarian highway restaurants.
Monsoon trips: Saputara, Polo Forest and Pavagadh
When the rains arrive in late June, Gujarat's green corners come alive. Polo Forest, about 150 km north-east near Idar, has ruined temples in a teak forest and seasonal streams, and is an easy day trip. Pavagadh and Champaner, about 150 km, combine the hilltop Mahakali temple (reached by ropeway) with the UNESCO-listed mosques of Champaner. Saputara, about 400 km in the Sahyadri hills on the Maharashtra border, is best over three days in July to September, when the lake and waterfalls are full; it is billed on 750 km, Rs 58,500 Pay Now to Reserve in a Traveller, plus two nights of allowance. Heavy rain can slow ghat sections, so we plan daylight driving.
Regular Traveller, Maharaja or Urbania in Ahmedabad
Regular Traveller. Pushback seats, roof AC vents over every row, reading lights, charging points and a music system, in 12, 17, 20 and 26 seat versions; the standard for yatras, garba nights and society trips.
Maharaja Traveller. Nine big recliners with curtains and legroom, at the same Rs 78 per km, which makes the long Saurashtra days far easier for elders.
Force Urbania. Individual reclining seats, personal AC vents and a quieter, smoother ride, at Rs 102 per km and Rs 25,650 for a city day; the pick for corporate delegations and wedding VIPs.
Each vehicle is no older than four model years, arrives cleaned, and carries a first-aid kit. Smoking and alcohol are not allowed on board, and the driver makes the final call on safety, including night driving on single-lane Kutch roads.
Tempo traveller vs train, bus or several cars from Ahmedabad
| 14 pilgrims, Ahmedabad-Dwarka-Somnath over 5 days | How it is paid | Temple-to-temple transport | Luggage | Elders |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One 17 seat Traveller | About Rs 97,500 plus allowance, tolls and GST | Included all week | Inside plus roof carrier | Stops whenever needed |
| Train plus local autos | Tickets per head plus local hire in each town | Arranged separately each day | Carry your own | Station transfers are tiring |
| GSRTC or private buses | Lowest per head | No | Limited | Long waits, crowded |
| Three sedans | Three bills, three driver allowances | Yes | Boot of each car | Group splits on the highway |
For couples, the train is excellent. For families and pilgrim groups, the Traveller usually wins on cost per head once local transport in each town is counted, and it is far kinder to elders.
Food, luggage and comfort on Gujarat yatras
Gujarati families rarely travel without a food box, and the Traveller has room for it. A 12 seater takes one suitcase and a soft bag per person inside plus a covered roof carrier; a full 17 seater is tighter, so pack for the week in soft bags where possible. Our drivers know the pure-vegetarian and Jain-friendly highway restaurants on the Saurashtra routes, around Bagodara, Limbdi, Rajkot and Jamnagar, and on the Kutch highway near Bhachau, and they stop about every two to three hours or whenever elders ask. Carry water and hats in summer, when afternoon temperatures in Kutch and north Gujarat are severe, and a shawl for December nights in the Rann, which turn surprisingly cold.
Areas we cover in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar
Pickups at the Ahmedabad rate card are available from Navrangpura, Ellisbridge, Paldi, Vasna, Satellite, Prahlad Nagar, Bodakdev, Thaltej, Vastrapur, Bopal, South Bopal, Shela, Gota, Chandkheda, Motera, Sabarmati, Ranip, Naranpura, Maninagar, Isanpur, Vatva, Naroda, Nikol, Bapunagar, Khokhra and the old city pols, plus Gandhinagar sectors, GIFT City, Sanand and Changodar. Railway groups are met at Ahmedabad Junction (Kalupur), Sabarmati, Maninagar and Gandhinagar Capital stations.
Driver allowance, permits and Gujarat road notes
Allowance. Rs 1,500 per night on overnight trips. Dharamshalas at Dwarka, Somnath, Ambaji and Palitana often provide drivers' rooms.
Interstate charges. Trips into Rajasthan (Mount Abu, Udaipur, Nathdwara) or Maharashtra (Saputara borders, Shirdi) may involve a border tax or permit fee, paid by us and added at the receipted amount. The national vehicle and permit portal is Parivahan.
Roads. The Ahmedabad-Vadodara expressway and NH48 are tolled; state highways to Saurashtra and Kutch are wide but carry trucks and livestock, so we avoid late-night driving. Summer afternoons in Kutch and north Gujarat are extremely hot; plan outdoor sightseeing early.
Navratri, Uttarayan and the wedding season
Navratri is Ahmedabad's biggest nine nights. Garba venues on SG Highway, Sindhu Bhavan Road and the party plots around Thaltej, Science City and Gota draw huge crowds from about 9 pm until late, and parking fills early. Friends' groups hire a Traveller for the night so they arrive together, step out at the entrance and meet the driver at a fixed landmark after midnight; time beyond the package is added hour by hour.
Uttarayan on 14 and 15 January turns every rooftop in the pols into a kite-flying party, and the International Kite Festival on the Sabarmati Riverfront draws visitors from abroad. Traffic in the old city is slow; we plan drops at the edge of the pol areas.
Weddings in Gujarat are large, joyful and often international. Between November and February, and again around Akshaya Tritiya, party plots and banquet halls along SG Highway, Sindhu Bhavan Road and SP Ring Road host multi-day functions with 300 to 1,000 guests. NRI families flying in need airport pickups at odd hours, hotel shuttles and day trips for overseas relatives. We plan wedding fleets with 12 and 17 seat Travellers on loops, an Urbania for elders and a decorated car from wedding car rental in Ahmedabad. Families visiting from abroad for longer can also use our NRI car hire service for the rest of the stay.
A Gujarati wedding, shuttle by shuttle
Gujarati weddings often spread over three or four days: a mandvo mahurat and pithi at home, a garba or dandiya night at a party plot, the mehendi, the jaan (baraat) and the hast melap ceremony, and a reception. Guests stay in two or three hotels on SG Highway or near the airport, while the venue may be a party plot on SP Ring Road or a farmhouse towards Sanand or Gandhinagar. We assign each Traveller a loop and a timetable per event, keep an Urbania for the elders, schedule airport runs around international arrivals from the US and UK, and bring the whole fleet onto one GST invoice.
For long wedding days a 12 hour / 120 km package is available, priced at one and a half times the 8 hour fare plus 40 km at the per-km rate: Rs 30,930 Pay Now to Reserve for a Traveller, Rs 42,550 Pay Now to Reserve for an Urbania and Rs 65,250 Pay Now to Reserve for a mini bus in Ahmedabad, before GST, tolls and parking.
GIFT City, Sanand and corporate group travel
Companies in GIFT City, the SG Highway office towers, the pharma belt around Changodar and the automobile plants at Sanand use Travellers for staff offsites, factory visits for clients and conference shuttles to the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. We provide GST invoices on company details, duty slips for each vehicle and payment by card, UPI or bank transfer, and monthly arrangements can be set up under corporate car rental.
One-way moves to Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot and Mumbai
Groups often need to go only one way: a wedding party to a function in Surat, a team moving to a Vadodara plant, or relatives heading to Mumbai for a flight. One-way Traveller drops are priced at Rs 78 per km for the route distance. Ahmedabad to Vadodara, about 110 km on the expressway, falls under the minimum fare, so it is Rs 10,200 Pay Now to Reserve (minimum fare applies); to Rajkot, about 215 km, about Rs 16,770 Pay Now to Reserve; to Surat, about 265 km, about Rs 20,670 Pay Now to Reserve; and to Mumbai, about 530 km, about Rs 41,340 Pay Now to Reserve, plus tolls, Maharashtra entry charges where applicable and GST.
Dakor, Ambaji and Bahucharaji: short temple days
Not every yatra needs a week. Dakor's Ranchhodraiji temple, about 90 km away, is a favourite on Purnima days and during Sharad Purnima in autumn, when crowds are large and parking fills early. Bahucharaji, about 110 km north-west, and Ambaji, about 180 km near the Rajasthan border, make easy single days; Ambaji's Bhadarvi Poonam fair in September sees lakhs of padyatris on the road, so vehicles move slowly near the town. A Dakor and Vadtal combination fits comfortably inside the 250 km daily floor, Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve in a Traveller.
School and college groups
Ahmedabad schools book 17, 20 and 26 seat Travellers for Science City, the Sabarmati Ashram, the Kankaria zoo and lakefront, Akshardham in Gandhinagar and the Dandi memorial, and colleges hire them for industrial visits in Sanand, Vapi and Bharuch. For every student trip we need a named teacher, a passenger list and a fixed schedule, and we avoid late-night highway driving.
Getting around Ahmedabad in a large vehicle
- The walled city. Ahmedabad was India's first city to be inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage City, and its pols (gated neighbourhoods) around Manek Chowk, Raipur and Kalupur are beautiful but tight. Heritage walks start at the Swaminarayan temple in Kalupur; the Traveller drops you there and waits outside the old city.
- Sabarmati Ashram and the Riverfront have parking nearby. Adalaj stepwell, about 20 km north, and Akshardham in Gandhinagar fit easily into a full-day package.
- Rush hours. SG Highway, Ashram Road and the Iskcon and Pakwan junctions slow from about 9 to 11 am and 6 to 9 pm.
- Summer. April to June is very hot; start sightseeing early and use the afternoon for indoor stops such as the Science City or a museum.
Airport, stations and pickup points
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport lies about 10 km from the old city and a little further from SG Highway and Gandhinagar. Our chauffeur follows the flight status, stands at arrivals holding a board with the lead passenger's name, and does not charge for the first hour after an overseas landing or the first half hour after a domestic one; longer waits go on the hourly meter. We also meet groups at Ahmedabad Junction (Kalupur), Sabarmati and Maninagar stations and at hotels and homes anywhere in the city, Gandhinagar and GIFT City. For small groups, chauffeured sedans are available through car rental with driver in Ahmedabad.
How much is a tempo traveller in Ahmedabad in 2026? Rates per seat size
Fares updated September 2026. Gujarati yatras are long, so the kilometre rate, the daily minimum and the driver's nightly allowance matter more than the city package. Here are all four for each vehicle.
| Ahmedabad vehicle | Seats and layout | Highway rate | Minimum km a day | Driver allowance a night | Ahmedabad full day, 8 hr / 80 km |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maharaja Traveller | 9, captain chairs | Rs 78/km | 250 | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 18,540 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Traveller | 12, 2+1 pushback | Rs 78/km | 250 | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 18,540 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Traveller | 17, 2+1 plus bench | Rs 78/km | 250 | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 18,540 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Traveller | 20, longer body | price on request | 250 | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | price on request |
| Traveller | 26, 2+2 | price on request | 250 | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | price on request |
| Force Urbania | up to 17, recliners | Rs 102/km | 250 | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 25,650 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Mini bus | up to 35, coach seats | Rs 134.4/km | 250 | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 39,900 Pay Now to Reserve |
The daily minimum rarely bites on Saurashtra trips, where drives are long. It matters on short outings: a Nal Sarovar morning covering 130 km is billed on 250 km, Rs 19,500 Pay Now to Reserve, while a Statue of Unity day of about 400 km is billed on the real 400 km, Rs 31,200 Pay Now to Reserve.
Every Traveller size for Gujarat trips
9 seat Maharaja Traveller
Wide reclining chairs, curtains and a clear aisle. Ahmedabad families pick it for grandparents on the five-day Dwarka-Somnath yatra, for NRI relatives visiting from abroad with large suitcases, and for business owners hosting buyers from overseas. It costs the same per km as the bigger Travellers; you simply spread fewer people across more space.
12 seat Traveller
The Gujarati family favourite. Two families, their luggage and the thepla-and-khakhra food box fit comfortably, and it is short enough for the lanes around the Dwarkadhish temple, the Palitana foothills and the old city pols. Seat maps are on our 12 seater tempo traveller page.
17 seat Traveller
The value choice for society trips, garba nights and office outings to Ekta Nagar or Polo Forest. Seventeen adults with overnight bags manage well on the plains; for a week-long Saurashtra loop with suitcases, keep it to about fifteen.
20 seat Traveller
A longer body that suits Gujarat's wide highways, including the Ahmedabad-Vadodara expressway, the SG Highway and the roads to Rajkot and Bhuj. It is a good fit for wedding loops between party plots and hotels. Priced on request.
26 seat Traveller
For single-day society outings, school trips to Science City or Adalaj, and baraat parties moving from the hotel to the venue. With every seat taken there is little room for luggage, so for 30 or more with bags consider a mini bus on rent, a coach from bus on rent or a Volvo bus on rent.
For a quieter premium ride, compare the Force Urbania on rent; for five or six people, an Innova Crysta on rent is cheaper.
Trip cost from Ahmedabad: seven Gujarat favourites
We bill the larger of the real round trip and 250 km for each calendar day, at the vehicle's rate. Tolls, Rajasthan or other state taxes, parking, driver nights and 5% GST are added.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Modhera and Patan | 1 | about 260 km | 260 km | Rs 20,280 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 26,520 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 35,100 Pay Now to Reserve | 0 |
| Ambaji | 1 | about 360 km | 360 km | Rs 28,080 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 36,720 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 48,600 Pay Now to Reserve | 0 |

| Udaipur | 2 | about 520 km | 520 km | Rs 40,560 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 53,040 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 70,200 Pay Now to Reserve | 1 |
| Gir (Sasan) | 3 | about 720 km | 750 km | Rs 58,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 76,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,01,250 Pay Now to Reserve | 2 |
| Rann of Kutch (Dhordo) | 3 | about 880 km | 880 km | Rs 68,640 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 89,760 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,18,800 Pay Now to Reserve | 2 |
Fifteen society members sharing the Rann of Kutch trip pay about Rs 4,570 each before extras. The billing rules are explained on our fares page.
Booking, what is included and cancellation
Fill in the pickup, travel dates, number of seats and places on the booking page; the fare appears straight away and you secure it with a part payment by card or UPI. On the eve of departure we message you the chauffeur's details and the registration of the vehicle, which will be no older than four model years. Diesel, air-conditioning and the chauffeur's wages are inside the fare; tolls, interstate taxes, parking and overnight driver allowance are not. Society trips with several vehicles or yatras longer than three days are best quoted by the desk on WhatsApp or by phone.
There is no charge to cancel if you tell us more than 72 hours ahead.
