Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar work as one metropolitan area, but they are spread out. A day might start with a meeting on SG Highway, move to GIFT City for lunch, cross to a ministry office in Gandhinagar, and end with dinner near the Sabarmati Riverfront, with 70 or 80 km driven in between. Car rental with driver in Ahmedabad lets you do all of that in one car with one chauffeur, booked for a set number of hours at a fixed price. RutzIndia.com offers 4-hour, 8-hour and 12-hour packages in the city, and per-km trips to the Statue of Unity, Modhera, Patan and the Rann of Kutch.
Car rental with driver in Ahmedabad: what you pay
Car rental with driver in Ahmedabad costs Rs 6,840 Pay Now to Reserve for a full day of 8 hours and 80 km in a Dzire class sedan, and Rs 4,110 Pay Now to Reserve for 4 hours and 40 km. The Innova Crysta, for six, is Rs 11,970 a day and a Fortuner Rs 21,360 Pay Now to Reserve. GST at 5% is extra; parking and expressway tolls are billed at cost.
Ahmedabad is priced 5% below the national base. This table shows the full-day package alongside the three numbers that decide the final bill: extra hours, extra kilometres and the minimum day charge if you head out of town.
| Your car | Full day (8 hr, 80 km) | Long day (12 hr, 120 km) | Every hour after the package | Every km after the package | Out-of-town day (250 km minimum) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dzire / Amaze class | Rs 6,840 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 11,700 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 840 | Rs 36 | Rs 9,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Ertiga / Carens class | Rs 8,550 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 14,520 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,080 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 42 | Rs 10,500 Pay Now to Reserve |

The 4-hour, 40 km half day is 60% of the full-day price, so Rs 4,110 Pay Now to Reserve in a Dzire and Rs 7,170 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta. The 12-hour column is built from the full day plus four hours and 40 km of overage: Rs 11,700 Pay Now to Reserve in a Dzire and Rs 20,220 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta. Every figure is before 5% GST, and extra-hour amounts are rounded to the nearest ten rupees.

SG Highway, GIFT City and Gandhinagar: the business day
Ahmedabad's commercial life has moved west and north. Corporate offices and hotels line the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway and the Prahlad Nagar and Sindhu Bhavan Road areas; financial firms are building up in GIFT City on the Sabarmati; state government offices and the Mahatma Mandir convention centre are in Gandhinagar; and the automotive and engineering plants of Sanand and Changodar lie to the west. Moving between them by app ride works, but each leg brings a new wait, and cars are hard to find outside a factory gate or late in the evening in Gandhinagar.
A worked example: an Innova Crysta collects two visiting executives from a hotel on SG Highway at 9 am, takes them to GIFT City, to a secretariat meeting in Gandhinagar and to a supplier near Sanand, and drops them back at 7 pm after about 120 km. Ten hours on an eight-hour package adds two hours at Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve; 120 km on an 80 km package adds 40 km at Rs 57.6, which is Rs 2,280 Pay Now to Reserve. Together with the Rs 11,970 Pay Now to Reserve package, the day costs about Rs 17,250 Pay Now to Reserve before GST, tolls and parking.
Firms with frequent visitors can open a corporate car rental account and receive one GST invoice for the month. A dedicated car and chauffeur for a long project or a posting is covered by monthly car rental with driver.
The walled city, the riverfront and Adalaj
Ahmedabad was India's first city to be inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage City, and its old quarter rewards a slow day. Start at the Sabarmati Ashram, Gandhi's home from 1917 to 1930, then drive along the Riverfront to the old city for the carved stone lattice of the Sidi Saiyyed mosque, the Jama Masjid, Bhadra Fort and the pols, the gated neighbourhoods of carved wooden houses. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation publishes details of the heritage walk that starts at the Swaminarayan temple in Kalupur early each morning.
In the afternoon, head north to the Adalaj stepwell, about 20 km out, and on to Akshardham in Gandhinagar, then return for the lights at Kankaria Lake and a late dinner at the Manek Chowk night food market. All of that fits comfortably inside an 8-hour, 80 km package. The old city's lanes are narrow and parking is scarce; the chauffeur drops you at the edge of each pol and waits nearby.

Textile markets, trade buyers and wholesale days
Ahmedabad grew rich on cotton, and textiles still draw buyers from across India and abroad. Fabric and garment wholesalers crowd the lanes around Ratanpol, Relief Road and Dhalgarwad in the old city, while the New Cloth Market and the textile clusters to the east handle bulk trade, and the mills and processing units on the city's fringes supply both. A buyer's day typically moves from sampling rooms in the old city to a processing unit in Narol or Vatva and on to a showroom on CG Road, with bags of swatches accumulating at each stop.
That is an ideal use of a time package. The chauffeur waits at the edge of the market lanes, where cars cannot enter, and keeps the samples locked in the boot while you walk to the next dealer. An Innova Crysta gives room for bolts of fabric, and a 12-hour day covers a full buying round without anyone having to carry parcels back to the hotel in the heat. For repeat trade visits, a corporate account puts every day on one GST invoice.
Gandhinagar beyond the secretariat
Visitors who come to Gandhinagar for official work often have a spare afternoon, and the capital has more to offer than its government buildings. Akshardham, the large Swaminarayan temple complex, has gardens and exhibitions and an evening water show; Dandi Kutir, the museum on Gandhi's life inside the Mahatma Mandir complex, is one of the more imaginative museums in Gujarat; and the Indroda Nature Park on the Sabarmati has walking trails and a dinosaur fossil park. All three are a short drive from the secretariat, so they fit into a package without much extra distance, and the chauffeur can collect you at the gate when you are done.

Navratri, Uttarayan and the wedding season
Navratri turns Ahmedabad into a nine-night dance. Garba grounds across the city stay busy until late, traffic around the big venues slows to a crawl, and finding a ride home after midnight is difficult. Families and groups often book a 12-hour Innova Crysta starting in the evening, or a 4-hour package for a single night, so the car is waiting when the dancing ends.
Uttarayan on 14 January fills every rooftop in the old city with kite flyers, and relatives travel across the city to celebrate together; a chauffeur saves you the parking problem in the pols. Diwali and the Gujarati New Year that follows bring a week of family visits, and the wedding season from November to February keeps party plots and banquet halls busy. For the ceremony itself, wedding car rental in Ahmedabad covers decorated cars, luxury car rental lists the premium fleet, and guest shuttles run in a Tempo Traveller in Ahmedabad.
Chauffeur, self-drive or app cab?
Ahmedabad's wide roads make self-drive look easy until you reach the old city, a crowded market, or a garba venue at midnight. You also carry the deposit, fuel and liability for any damage or traffic fines. App cabs are efficient for a single trip, and our Ahmedabad taxi service covers those at fixed fares; for several stops or long waits, a time package with a chauffeur is usually better value and far less effort.
| Ahmedabad situation | Self-drive | App cab | Chauffeur on a package |
|---|---|---|---|
| SG Highway to GIFT City to a Gandhinagar ministry | Three parking lots to find | Three bookings, waits at government gates | One car waiting at each stop |
| Old-city pols and Manek Chowk at night | Lanes too narrow to park | Drop only, hard to get back out | Drop at the pol gate, pickup at another |
| Garba ground at 1 am | Traffic and no parking | Few cars accept, prices rise | Driver waiting at an agreed point |
| Sanand or Changodar plant gate | Long drive yourself | Cabs rarely wait at industrial estates | Car at the gate when the meeting ends |
| Summer afternoons above 40 degrees | Car heats up while parked | You wait outside | Car cooled before you step in |
| Best for | Local residents | One quick trip | Visitors, delegations, families, festival nights |
Stations and hotel districts
Ahmedabad Junction at Kalupur, on the edge of the old city, handles most long-distance trains, and Sabarmati, Maninagar and Gandhinagar Capital stations serve others. Kalupur's forecourt is busy and its two sides face different roads, so tell us the train and coach and the chauffeur will wait at the right entrance. Hotels are concentrated along SG Highway and in Bodakdev, Vastrapur and Prahlad Nagar for business travellers, around Ashram Road and the riverfront for the city centre, and in Gandhinagar and GIFT City for government and finance visits. The pickup point sets the tone for the day: a Gandhinagar start uses fewer kilometres to reach GIFT City, while a Kalupur start is ideal for the heritage walk.

Airport pickups at SVPI
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is in Hansol, in the north-east of the city and within easy reach of both central Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar; the airport's profile describes its terminals. If your package starts with a landing, your chauffeur keeps an eye on the flight and meets you with a name board. After touchdown there is an hour of free waiting on international flights and thirty minutes on domestic flights; after that, waiting is added at the hourly rate. A transfer without a day's hire is cheaper through airport taxi.
Beyond the city: Modhera, Patan, the Statue of Unity and Kutch
Leaving Ahmedabad moves you onto per-km billing, with each calendar day of a round trip charged for no less than 250 km. A night allowance of Rs 1,500 covers the chauffeur's food and lodging on overnight trips, and tolls on the expressways are passed through at cost. Fares before GST:
- Modhera Sun Temple and Rani ki Vav at Patan in a day: roughly 260 km, so 260 x Rs 36 = Rs 9,360 Pay Now to Reserve in a Dzire.
- Vadodara on the expressway for a meeting or Laxmi Vilas Palace: roughly 220 km there and back, below the one-day floor, so 250 x Rs 36 = Rs 9,000 Pay Now to Reserve in a Dzire plus the expressway toll.
- Polo Forest for the day: about 300 km, so 300 x Rs 36 = Rs 10,800 Pay Now to Reserve in a Dzire. It is best after the monsoon.
- Statue of Unity at Ekta Nagar over two days, Innova Crysta: roughly 400 km, below the 500 km two-day minimum, so 500 x Rs 57.6 = Rs 28,500 plus one night's allowance.
- Rann of Kutch over three days, Innova Crysta: about 800 km, above the 750 km minimum, so 800 x Rs 57.6 = Rs 45,600 plus two nights. The white desert is at its best during the winter Rann Utsav season.
Longer Gujarat circuits to Dwarka, Somnath or Saurashtra are planned on outstation cabs, and a sturdy SUV for highway days is described on Fortuner on rent.
Which car for an Ahmedabad day?
Summer in Ahmedabad is fierce, with afternoons above 40 degrees from April to June, so air-conditioning that keeps up matters as much as seat count. A Dzire suits one or two people on a city day and slips easily into the old city's tighter streets. The Ertiga gives a family of five a third row at a modest price. For six adults, long days that swing between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, or highway runs to Kutch and Saurashtra, the Innova Crysta is the most comfortable choice, and its roof-mounted rear vents cool the back rows properly. Senior government or corporate visitors are often met in an E-Class, while delegations and wedding guests travel together in a Tempo Traveller.
Whatever you choose, the package includes the car, the chauffeur and fuel for the included kilometres. Monument tickets, the heritage walk fee, parking at the riverfront and malls, and tolls are paid separately at cost, and all of them are listed on the final invoice.
Booking, payment and cancellation
Every class is on the fleet page, and multi-car plans for weddings, delegations or conferences at Mahatma Mandir are quoted by the travel desk. A six-seater for several days is described on Innova Crysta on rent. Most heritage days begin at the Sabarmati Ashram, which opens early.
Select Ahmedabad, the package and the car, then book online and pay by card or UPI; a GSTIN on the booking gives you a tax invoice. You receive the chauffeur's name and number plate before pickup. Our cars are all within four model years; only Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach may be up to seven. Cancelling is free until 72 hours before the pickup time. From then on the charge is 10% of the fare, half once you are within 48 hours, and the whole fare within 24 hours or on a no-show, per the cancellation policy.
