For forty people travelling several hundred kilometres, nothing on Indian roads is as calm as a modern multi-axle coach. The ride floats on air suspension, the cabin is hushed, the seats recline like a premium economy cabin, and a hold the length of the bus swallows suitcases, sound systems and gift hampers alike. A Volvo bus on rent from RutzIndia.com comes with a trained crew and an All India Tourist Permit, at Rs 210 per km outstation or Rs 72,000 for an 8 hour city day.
Volvo bus on rent: price in 2026
A Volvo or equivalent luxury bus on rent costs Rs 210 per km for outstation travel, billed on at least 250 km per day on round trips (Rs 52,500 a day minimum). City hire is Rs 43,200 Pay Now to Reserve for 4 hours/40 km or Rs 72,000 Pay Now to Reserve for 8 hours/80 km, and an airport transfer up to 40 km is Rs 39,600 Pay Now to Reserve, all before 5% GST.
"Volvo" has become shorthand in India for any luxury coach, and we book Scania and Bharat Benz coaches of the same class at the same rate. If your event specifically needs the Volvo badge, say so; we confirm the make, model and registration in writing.
| Journey | Km | Luxury coach fare |
|---|---|---|
| Bangalore to Mysore, one way | 145 | Rs 41,580 Pay Now to Reserve (minimum fare applies) |
| Mumbai to Pune, one way | 150 | Rs 43,560 Pay Now to Reserve (minimum fare applies) |
| Delhi to Agra, one way | 233 | Rs 48,930 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Agra to Jaipur, one way | 240 | Rs 50,400 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Mumbai to Shirdi, one way | 240 | Rs 50,400 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Delhi to Jaipur, one way | 280 | Rs 58,800 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Jaipur to Udaipur, one way | 395 | Rs 82,950 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Bangalore to Coorg round trip, 2 days | 530 | Rs 1,11,300 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Mumbai to Goa, one way | 590 | Rs 1,23,900 Pay Now to Reserve |
City factors change the local and airport packages only. In Mumbai an 8 hour day is about Rs 79,200 Pay Now to Reserve and in Goa an airport transfer is about Rs 43,560 Pay Now to Reserve, while outstation kilometres cost Rs 210 everywhere. Tolls, which are significant for a multi-axle coach on expressways, are billed at actual cost along with parking and any border tax, and the crew's nightly allowance of Rs 1,500 is added on multi-day tours.

Luxury coach rates by seat count, 2026
Every coach in this class is billed at the same per-km rate, whether it seats 35 or 45. The table shows what drives the final bill.
| Coach | Axles (typical) | Per km | Round-trip minimum per day | Lowest daily bill | Crew allowance per night | City 8 hr / 80 km |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 35 seat compact luxury coach | 2 | Rs 210 | 250 km | Rs 52,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 72,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| 41 seat luxury coach | 2 or 3 | Rs 210 | 250 km | Rs 52,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 72,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| 45 seat multi-axle coach | 3 | Rs 210 | 250 km | Rs 52,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 72,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
The city package is at base rates; local variations are in the city table below. Axle count affects tolls, not our fare: national highway plazas charge by vehicle class and axles, and a multi-axle coach pays a higher toll category than a two-axle bus. The NHAI website publishes plaza information for national highways. Tolls are always billed at the exact receipted amount.
Choosing between the coach sizes
35 seat compact luxury coach
Shorter than a full coach, with the same style of reclining seats and ducted AC, and usually a smaller underfloor hold. It is the right choice when the group is 28 to 35, when hotel access is tight, or when the route includes a town centre where a 12-metre coach would struggle. Many wedding planners prefer it for palace hotels in Jaipur and Udaipur with narrow gateways.
41 seat luxury coach
The versatile middle size, long enough for a big hold and generous seat pitch, short enough for most hotel porches in the metros. Conference organisers book it for delegate shuttles, and tour operators for Golden Triangle groups of 30 to 40 with two suitcases each.
45 seat multi-axle coach
The full-length coach with a third axle, air suspension and the largest luggage hold. On long expressway runs such as Mumbai to Goa or Delhi to Jaipur, the ride quality is unmatched. The trade-off is access: it needs a wide turning circle and cannot reach many old-city hotels or hill towns. We check your hotels before confirming this size.

Coach trip costs: more routes
These routes complement the fares at the top of the page. Per-head figures assume a full 45 seat coach and exclude GST, tolls, parking, border tax and crew allowance.
| Coach journey | Days | Kilometres charged | Coach fare | Each of 45 pays |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mumbai to Nashik, drop (minimum fare applies) | 1 | 170 | Rs 43,560 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 970 |
| Delhi to Chandigarh, drop | 1 | 245 | Rs 51,450 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,140 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Delhi to Dehradun, drop | 1 | 250 | Rs 52,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,170 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Bangalore to Chennai, drop | 1 | 345 | Rs 72,450 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,610 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Pune to Shirdi and back | 1 | 370 | Rs 77,700 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,730 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Bangalore to Ooty, two days | 2 | 540 | Rs 1,13,400 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 2,520 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Delhi to Amritsar, two days | 2 | 900 | Rs 1,89,000 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 4,200 Pay Now to Reserve |
For Ooty, remember that the last climb from the plains is steep with many hairpins; a 35 seat compact coach is the safer size. See Bangalore to Ooty and Delhi to Amritsar for the drives.

Worked example: seven-day coach tour for an overseas group
A group of 36 visitors lands in Delhi for a week covering the Golden Triangle and Ranthambore. They book a 41 seat coach.
| Day | Route | Approx km |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Delhi airport arrival and city sightseeing | 70 |
| 2 | Delhi to Agra via the Yamuna Expressway | 233 |
| 3 | Agra, Taj Mahal at sunrise, then Fatehpur Sikri to Jaipur | 240 |
| 4 | Jaipur: Amer Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar | 50 |
| 5 | Jaipur to Sawai Madhopur for Ranthambore | 180 |
| 6 | Ranthambore safari day (coach rests; park vehicles used) | 20 |
| 7 | Sawai Madhopur to Delhi airport | 390 |
Driven: about 1,183 km. Seven-day minimum: 1,750 km, so 1,750 km is billed at Rs 210, Rs 3,67,500 Pay Now to Reserve. Add six crew night allowances, tolls, Rajasthan entry tax where collected, parking and 5% GST. Per visitor, the coach costs about Rs 10,200 Pay Now to Reserve for the week before extras. If the group would rather not pay for the quiet safari day, a smaller vehicle for the Ranthambore leg is an option we can quote. Safari vehicles inside the tiger reserve are run under the park's own booking system and are separate from our coach.
Conferences: running a delegate shuttle
For a three-day conference with 200 delegates across four hotels, organisers typically book three or four 41 seat coaches on 8 hour days, plus one on standby. What makes it work:
- A printed timetable for each hotel, with departure times every 20 or 30 minutes in the morning peak.
- A hotel coordinator at each lobby with the delegate list, in touch with the driver.
- Fixed pickup points at each venue gate, agreed with the venue's security in advance.
- Late sessions and dinners covered by pre-agreed extra hours.
- Airport transfers on arrival and departure days, grouped by flight time.
We put every coach, route and timing on one schedule and issue a single GST invoice at the end. For executive cars alongside the coaches, see corporate car rental.
What the luggage hold can carry
The underfloor hold of a full coach takes far more than suitcases. Groups regularly carry band equipment, sound systems for events, bicycles for cycling tours (with pedals and handlebars turned), trade-show boxes and wedding trousseau trunks. Tell us about bulky items in advance so the crew can plan loading order, and bring blankets or straps for fragile equipment. Items that are hazardous, such as gas cylinders or fuel cans, cannot be carried.
What makes a luxury coach different
A standard bus and a luxury coach can look similar in a photograph. On the road they are not.
- Air suspension. Instead of leaf springs, the coach rides on air bellows that absorb expressway joints and speed breakers. Passengers at the back feel almost what passengers at the front feel.
- Multi-axle stability. Longer coaches use a third axle that spreads weight and steadies the bus at highway speeds and in crosswinds on open plains.
- Reclining seats with space. 2+2 seating with deep recline, footrests on many coaches, and enough pitch for a six-foot passenger to sleep on a long transfer.
- Underfloor luggage hold. A walk-in-sized hold running between the axles. For an airport group of 40 with two cases each, this is the only vehicle short of a separate luggage van that takes everything.
- Cabin comfort. Ducted air conditioning, reading lights, curtains, a PA microphone for tour guides, and on most coaches a screen at the front.
The manufacturer's current range is on the Volvo Buses India website. We supply coaches within four model years of manufacture, and every one is commercially registered with a valid fitness certificate.
When a Volvo coach is the right choice
Destination weddings. Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Goa weddings bring whole families by air. A coach meets the flight, carries guests and their luggage to the palace hotel in one run, and then handles every event transfer. Rajasthan's official tourism site is useful for guests planning sightseeing between functions.
Conferences and dealer meets. Airport arrivals, hotel-to-venue shuttles and a sightseeing half-day for 40 delegates at a time. Companies receive GST invoices, and our corporate car rental desk can bundle cars for senior management.
Long tours. Foreign and NRI tour groups on the Golden Triangle by road, or Karnataka circuits such as Bangalore, Mysore and Coorg. A luxury coach turns five or six hours of driving into rest time.
Pilgrimage groups. Shirdi from Mumbai, Tirupati from Chennai or Bangalore, Mathura and Vrindavan from Delhi. For Himalayan shrines, see the note on hill roads below.
Sports teams and school tours. Kit bags in the hold, one bus, one timetable.
For groups under 30, a mini bus on rent at Rs 134.4 per km is more economical and more nimble in town. The bus on rent guide compares every group vehicle side by side.
Where luxury coaches go, and where they cannot
Twelve-metre coaches belong on expressways and national highways. Classic coach routes include the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, the Bangalore to Mysore road, the Delhi-Jaipur highway, the Yamuna Expressway to Agra, and the long Mumbai to Goa run along the Konkan.
They do not belong in old walled cities, narrow village approaches or tight hill roads. Plan for these realities:
- Heritage cores. In Jaipur's old city, Varanasi's ghats and Old Delhi, the coach stops at the edge and guests walk or take local transport in.
- Taj Mahal. Coaches park outside the protected zone and visitors continue by battery vehicle or on foot; allow time for this.
- Hotel driveways. Some boutique palace hotels cannot take a full-length coach. We check access with the hotel ahead of your event and, where needed, run a smaller vehicle for the last stretch.
- Hill stations and Himalayan shrines. Long-wheelbase coaches are unsuitable for many mountain roads. For Char Dham or Himachal trips, switch to tempo travellers or a mini bus for the climb.
Goa destination weddings by coach
Goa weddings bring guests through two airports: Dabolim in the south-centre and Mopa in the north. Beach resorts in North Goa, Candolim and Calangute, and in South Goa, Cavelossim and Benaulim, can be an hour or more apart, so coach planning matters. A practical approach:
- Arrival day: group guests by airport and flight time, and run coaches in waves rather than one long wait. Airport transfers within 40 km are about Rs 43,560 Pay Now to Reserve in Goa for a luxury coach; longer runs, common from Mopa to South Goa, add the extra kilometres.
- Function days: book 8 hour days at about Rs 79,200 per coach, with late hours agreed in advance for beach receptions.
- Venue access: some beach resorts sit on narrow village roads; a 35 seat compact coach, or a coach plus a van for the last stretch, may be needed.
- Monsoon weddings: from June to September, heavy rain slows transfers and some beach venues close; keep extra time in every schedule.
For the drive down from Mumbai, see Mumbai to Goa, and for local cars and vans in the state, tempo traveller in Goa.
Coach or flight for a short sector?
Groups moving between nearby cities, for example Jaipur to Udaipur or Bangalore to Chennai, often weigh a coach against a short flight. A flight is faster in the air, but add airport transfers at both ends, check-in time, baggage limits and group fares that rise as seats fill. A coach leaves from the hotel door, keeps luggage in one place, stops for lunch and sightseeing on the way (Chittorgarh between Jaipur and Udaipur, for example), and costs the same whether the group is 30 or 45. For sectors under about 400 km, the coach is usually as quick door to door and much simpler for a group with luggage, and the whole group arrives at the hotel together rather than in taxi-loads from the airport.
Tour-leader tips for a coach day
- Brief the group at the first stop: timings, the coach number and the driver's name, and where the coach will wait.
- Photograph the coach number plate and share it in the group chat so nobody boards the wrong bus at a crowded monument.
- Set a fixed reboarding time at every stop and stick to it; five minutes late for forty people is a lot of lost daylight.
- Use the microphone for announcements rather than shouting over the AC.
- Rotate seats daily so the same people are not always at the back.
- Keep a headcount sheet and count at every departure.
What to request on board
Coaches vary between operators, so ask for what matters to your group: a working PA microphone for guides, a screen and USB input if you plan presentations or films, curtains on every window for summer afternoons, reading lights for early starts, and blankets for overnight or winter travel. Onboard toilets are rare on Indian touring coaches; plan comfort stops every two to three hours at restaurants or fuel stations with proper facilities.
Crew standards on luxury coaches
Coach crews on our bookings are experienced with long-distance touring. You can expect the driver to report early for a walk-round check, to keep to speed limits on expressways, to plan fuel and rest stops with the tour leader, and to avoid long night stretches. On tours longer than a day, the crew arranges its own lodging from the night allowance, often at driver rest areas that hotels provide. Tell us about the group's language needs: many drivers speak Hindi and the regional language, with working English on tourist circuits.
Fog, heat and monsoon: seasonal coach planning
North Indian fog (late December to January): morning visibility on the Delhi-Agra, Delhi-Jaipur and Delhi-Chandigarh highways can fall sharply. Plan departures after sunrise and allow slack for arrival times.
Summer (April to June): coaches keep the cabin cool, but monuments are brutal at midday. Plan sightseeing for early morning and late afternoon, with the coach waiting at hotels in between.
Monsoon (June to September): the Western Ghats, Konkan and Kerala see heavy rain. Coaches run, but schedules need spare time, and some hill stretches close after landslides.
Sample invoice: two days to Coorg by luxury coach
A Bangalore company sends 40 employees to a Coorg resort for a two-day offsite. The invoice is built line by line.
| Item | How it is worked out | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Coach fare | 530 km (Bangalore to Coorg and back) at Rs 210; above the 500 km two-day minimum | Rs 1,11,300 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Crew allowance | One night, at the rate printed on the quote | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Tolls | Receipts from plazas on the Mysore road | at actual |
| Parking | Resort and sightseeing lots | at actual |
| GST | 5% of the coach fare | Rs 5,570 |
That is under Rs 3,000 per employee for the coach before tolls, parking and the allowance. The final stretch to some Coorg estates is narrow, so we confirm with the resort that a full-size coach can reach the gate; if not, a compact coach is used at the same rate.
Spiritual and pilgrimage tours by coach
Coaches suit large pilgrim groups on the plains: Shirdi and Nashik from Mumbai, Mathura, Vrindavan and Agra from Delhi, Tirupati from Chennai, the Jyotirlinga circuit of Omkareshwar and Ujjain from Indore, and the temple towns of Tamil Nadu. Temple towns usually have designated bus parks a short walk from the shrine; plan for that walk with elders, and carry a bag for everyone's footwear. For Himalayan shrines, the roads beyond the foothills need smaller vehicles; our Char Dham yatra page explains the options.
Film crews, fashion shows and sports teams
Production units moving cast and crew between a hotel and a location, fashion-week teams shuttling models and stylists between venues, and cricket or kabaddi squads travelling to matches all need a coach that runs to a tight schedule. The hold takes costume trunks, lighting kits and kit bags; the cabin becomes a green room with curtains drawn. Tell us the call times and locations a day ahead so the crew can plan routes and parking, and book extra hours in advance for shoots that run late.
Where luxury coaches are based
Luxury coaches are concentrated in the big touring and business hubs: Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Goa and Kochi. In these cities a coach can usually be arranged with a week or two of notice outside the peak seasons. For tours starting in smaller cities, a coach may travel empty from the nearest hub; if that adds kilometres to your bill, we show it clearly in the quote and suggest alternatives, such as starting the tour in the hub city or using mini buses locally. Searching for a Volvo bus on rent near you? Enter your pickup city in the booker and we will confirm the nearest coach.
Coaches and passengers with limited mobility
Coach entrances have several steep steps, and seats are high off the ground. For groups including wheelchair users or elderly passengers who find steps difficult, we suggest seating them in the first rows by the door, planning longer stops, and adding a car such as an Innova Crysta that travels with the coach. A folded wheelchair travels easily in the hold. Tell us in advance so the crew is ready to help at every stop, and ask hotels for ramp access at the porch where the coach will pull in, so the transfer from wheelchair to seat is quick and dignified.
Coach or two mini buses for 50 guests?
Groups of about fifty sometimes ask whether one full coach plus a van, or two mini buses, works better. Two 27 seat mini buses cost Rs 270 per km combined against Rs 210 for a 45 seat coach plus Rs 78 for a tempo traveller (Rs 290 combined). On cost the two options are close; the real difference is access and togetherness. Two mini buses reach more hotel gates and old-city edges, while a coach keeps most of the group in one cabin with a bigger hold for luggage. For airport arrivals and long highway days, the coach-plus-van combination usually wins; for city weddings with several venues, two mini buses often run more smoothly.
Crew, driving hours and safety
Luxury coaches travel with an experienced driver, and a helper can be arranged on request; on long transfers we plan either a second driver or an overnight halt rather than extended night driving. The crew checks tyres, coolant and the hold locks before departure and at halts.
Interstate journeys run under the All India Tourist Permit, and where a state still collects a border tax the crew pays it and brings you the receipt. Ask passengers to wear the seat belts fitted to coach seats on highway stretches, keep the aisle clear while moving and leave valuables in the cabin rather than the hold.
Worked quote: a 42-guest wedding weekend in Udaipur
A family flies 42 guests into Udaipur and needs a coach for three days: airport arrival, transfers between the lake hotel and a palace venue, a half-day of city sightseeing, and the airport return.
- Day 1: airport pickup and evening function transfers, about 70 km.
- Day 2: sightseeing to City Palace and Saheliyon ki Bari plus two function runs, about 60 km.
- Day 3: reception transfers and the airport drop, about 70 km.
Because this is local work within one city, it is priced as three 8 hour / 80 km days at Rs 72,000 each, Rs 2,16,000, rather than per kilometre. Extra hours for a late reception are pre-agreed at the rate on your quote. Add parking at venues and 5% GST; there is no night allowance because the crew is based locally. Per guest, that is roughly Rs 5,150 Pay Now to Reserve for three days of transfers.
Coach itineraries that work well, region by region
North India. The Delhi, Agra and Jaipur triangle is made for coaches: expressway or four-lane highway almost all the way. A classic five-day plan runs Delhi to Agra (see the Delhi to Agra route), then Agra to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri and Abhaneri stepwell, then back to Delhi. Extend into our Rajasthan tour for Udaipur and Jodhpur, with a coach on the highways and smaller vehicles for old-city lanes.
West India. Mumbai to Pune and Lonavala on the expressway, Mumbai to Shirdi for Sai Baba darshan with a stop at Shani Shingnapur, Nashik's vineyards, and the Konkan coast down to Goa. In the monsoon the ghats are spectacular but slower, and fog near Lonavala can reduce speeds.
South India. Bangalore to Mysore Palace and Srirangapatna, then on to Coorg's coffee estates; Chennai to Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry along the East Coast Road. Coorg's last stretch is narrower, so we choose coach length accordingly.
Airports as hubs. Many groups fly into one city and out of another. A coach can meet you at Delhi and leave you at Jaipur or Udaipur airport, billed on the one-way route kilometres.
Coach, cars or both?
Plenty of events use a coach for the main group and cars for a few. The bride's parents may want a quiet sedan between functions, a CEO may need to leave a conference early, or a guest with limited mobility may prefer a lower step. Adding a luxury car rental or a Toyota Vellfire to the booking keeps the coach running to schedule while individual needs are met. One booking, one invoice, one coordinator on WhatsApp, and one team accountable for every vehicle on the day.
Booking, payment and cancellation
Tell us the group size, luggage, pickup points and schedule using the online booker or on WhatsApp. You receive a written quote naming the coach class and itemising the fare, then pay an advance by card or UPI; the balance is due at the end of the job. For airport pickups the crew tracks the flight and the coordinator waits with a name board, with 60 minutes free after international arrivals and 30 minutes after domestic flights.
Our cancellation policy is the same for coaches as for cars: no charge more than 72 hours out, 10% inside 72 hours, 50% inside 48 hours, and the full fare inside 24 hours or on a no-show.
Book early for the season
Luxury coaches are limited in every city, and November to February weddings, December conference season, New Year in Goa, Diwali and Durga Puja absorb most of them. Reserve four to six weeks ahead for those dates, and at least two weeks ahead otherwise. Summer holidays from May to June bring school and family tours, and the monsoon months are quieter except on the Mumbai, Pune and Goa corridor. If your dates are fixed but the head count is not, book the coach early anyway: free cancellation until 72 hours before pickup means you can release it, or step down to a mini bus, once numbers settle.
