Driving from Mumbai to Goa is a rite of passage, but eleven hours at the wheel is not how most people want to start a holiday. A Mumbai to Goa taxi hands that job to a chauffeur who has done the run many times, knows where the Konkan highway is still being widened, which ghat to avoid in a cloudburst and where to find a clean breakfast at 7 am. RutzIndia.com prices it strictly by kilometre, sends a car no more than four model years old, and drops you at the door of your villa in Assagao or your hotel in Colva rather than at a bus stand.
How much is a Mumbai to Goa taxi in 2026?
Fares updated September 2026.
A Mumbai to Goa one way taxi costs Rs 21,240 Pay Now to Reserve in a compact sedan (590 km at Rs 36/km) and Rs 33,630 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta. A round trip is billed on at least 1,180 km: Rs 42,480 Pay Now to Reserve by sedan or Rs 67,260 Pay Now to Reserve by Innova. Add 5% GST, with tolls and Goa entry tax at actual.
Returns are billed on the greater of the actual kilometres or 250 km for each calendar day. Because Mumbai to Goa and back is already about 1,180 km, the kilometre charge is the same whether you keep the car for two, three or four days; only the chauffeur's night allowance (Rs 1,500 a night) grows. From five days the 1,250 km floor takes over. Local driving inside Goa, say from Candolim to Palolem and back, is added at the same per-km rate.
| Your car | One way to Goa | Return, 2-4 days (1,180 km) | Return, 5 days (1,250 km) | Rate per km |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dzire / Amaze / Aura | Rs 21,240 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 42,480 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 45,000 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 36 |
| Ertiga / Kia Carens | Rs 24,780 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 49,560 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 52,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 42 |
| Innova Crysta / Hycross | Rs 33,630 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 67,260 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 71,250 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 57.6 |
| Fortuner / Gloster | Rs 49,560 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 99,120 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,05,000 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 84 |
| Tempo Traveller 12-16 seat | Rs 46,020 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 92,040 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 97,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 78 |
| Force Urbania 10-17 seat | Rs 60,180 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,20,360 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,27,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 102 |
On this route you will cross several toll plazas, and if the chauffeur takes the Pune line, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway toll as well. Goa collects an entry tax from out-of-state commercial vehicles at its border check posts. All of these, and parking at beaches, forts and hotels without free parking, are charged at the receipted amount. Fares are before 5% GST. Payment is by card or UPI through the booker, and business travellers heading to a Goa conference or offsite can add a GSTIN for a proper tax invoice. The complete rate card is on our fares page.

Two roads to Goa, and how we choose
The Konkan coast: NH66
The coastal road leaves Mumbai through Panvel and runs south through Pen, Mahad and Poladpur, climbs through the Kashedi ghat, then continues via Khed, Chiplun, the Parshuram ghat, Sangameshwar, Rajapur, Kankavli, Kudal and Sawantwadi before entering Goa near Patradevi and Pernem. It is the more direct line and the more beautiful, with rivers, paddy and coconut groves most of the way. The catch is that the long-running widening of NH66 means some stretches are excellent four-lane road and others are still narrow, with diversions and slow truck traffic on the ghats.
The expressway and Kolhapur line
The alternative takes the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, operated by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (see MSRDC), then the NH48 highway south through Satara, Karad and Kolhapur. From Kolhapur the car drops into Goa by one of the ghats: Amboli to Sawantwadi, or via Belagavi and the Chorla ghat into north Goa. It is longer in kilometres but mostly wide, fast highway, and it is often the quicker choice when the coast road has fresh diversions or during heavy monsoon rain on the Konkan.
Your chauffeur checks conditions the evening before and again at departure and picks the faster, safer line. The fare is quoted on the standard 590 km; if you specifically ask for a longer scenic route or detours, the extra kilometres are shown before you confirm.
Driving time and the overnight option
Expect ten to twelve hours door to door, including meal breaks. A 5 am departure from Mumbai usually means arriving in north Goa by late afternoon. If you have elderly passengers or small children, consider breaking the trip for a night in Kolhapur, Chiplun or near Sindhudurg; that converts the booking to a two-day trip, but because a round trip is already billed on 1,180 km, a stopover on a return journey costs only the driver's night allowance. For one-way trips with a stopover, the travel desk quotes the extra day separately.
Both routes broken down: kilometres, hours, plazas
Via the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Kolhapur
| Leg | About km | Usual time | Toll points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mumbai to Pune, expressway | 150 | about 3 hrs | Khalapur and Talegaon plazas |
| Pune to Satara, NH48 | 110 | about 2 hrs | Khed-Shivapur and Anewadi plazas |
| Satara to Kolhapur via Karad | 120 | about 2 hrs | Tasawade and Kini plazas |
| Kolhapur to Panaji via Amboli and Sawantwadi | 190 | 4 to 4.5 hrs | ghat section, Goa border check post |
| Total | about 570 to 600 | 11 to 12 hrs | tolls and Goa entry tax at actual |
Via the Konkan coast (NH66)
| Leg | About km | Usual time | Road notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mumbai to Panvel | 45 | about 1 hr | Atal Setu or Sion-Panvel road |
| Panvel to Mahad via Pen | 125 | about 2 hrs 30 min | widened sections with occasional diversions |
| Mahad to Chiplun via the Kashedi ghat | 90 | about 2 hrs | tunnel and ghat, slow in rain |
| Chiplun to Kankavli via Parshuram ghat and Rajapur | 175 | about 3 hrs 30 min | mixed four-lane and two-lane |
| Kankavli to north Goa via Kudal and Sawantwadi | 110 | about 2 hrs | Goa entry at Patradevi |
The one-way fare is quoted on the standard 590 km whichever line the chauffeur takes for speed and safety. The car carries a FASTag (issued through the national IHMCL programme), and every toll is passed on at the exact amount.

Seasons, festivals and monsoon driving
- October to March is Goa's main season, with the busiest weeks around Diwali, Christmas and New Year. Book a week or more ahead for these dates, and earlier for Innova Crystas and Tempo Travellers.
- Ganeshotsav (usually August or September) sends huge numbers of Mumbai families home to the Konkan, and NH66 can be very slow for several days on either side of the festival.
- The south-west monsoon, June to September, brings very heavy rain to the Konkan and the Sahyadri ghats. Landslips and waterlogging are possible, especially on the Kashedi and Parshuram ghats and at Amboli. Our chauffeurs drive in daylight where possible, slow right down in poor visibility, and switch to the Kolhapur line if the coast road is disrupted. The monsoon is also when Goa is greenest and quietest, with lower hotel rates.
- April and May are hot on the plains but perfect for mangoes along the way.
Driving hours matter on a 590 km trip. Our chauffeurs take a break roughly every two to three hours and avoid pushing late into the night. If a departure time would mean a very late arrival, the desk will suggest starting earlier or adding a stopover. It is the safest way to cover this distance.
Sightseeing add-ons in Goa
Approximate return distances from the Calangute-Baga belt. On a return booking they add to your kilometres at your car's rate once the 1,180 km base is exceeded.

|---|---|---|---|
| Fort Aguada and Candolim | 15 | Rs 4,350 Pay Now to Reserve, minimum fare applies | Rs 7,620 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Chapora fort and Vagator | 20 | Rs 4,350 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 7,620 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Old Goa churches and Panaji's Fontainhas | 40 | Rs 4,350 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 7,620 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Kulem, base for Dudhsagar jeep safaris | 120 | Rs 4,350 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 7,620 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Palolem and the far south | 170 | Rs 6,120 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 9,690 Pay Now to Reserve |
The last stretch to Dudhsagar falls is run by authorised local jeeps, which you pay separately; your car waits at the base. For a special occasion in Goa, see luxury car rental in Goa. The travel desk can plan a full beach-and-heritage day, and the fleet page shows every class we send on long drives. More routes appear under outstation cabs.
