Goa is the only Indian holiday state with two commercial airports, and they sit at opposite ends of it. Dabolim (GOI) is near Vasco da Gama in the south; Manohar International at Mopa (GOX) is in Pernem, close to the Maharashtra border in the north. Pick the wrong one and a beach that looked "near the airport" can be a two-hour drive. A Goa airport taxi from RutzIndia.com starts with that check, then gives you one fixed fare and a chauffeur waiting at arrivals.
Goa airport taxi fares from both airports
A Goa airport taxi with RutzIndia.com is Rs 4,360 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan and Rs 7,620 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta for any drop within 40 km of the airport you land at. From Dabolim that covers Panaji, Margao and Colva; from Mopa it covers Arambol, Anjuna, Baga and Calangute. Fares exclude 5% GST and have no night surcharge.
Goa carries a 1.10 factor on airport and local fares, so each class costs 10% above the national base listed on our fares page. The transfer includes 40 km. Many Goa trips run longer than that, especially a south-Goa landing heading to the northern beaches or the reverse, and the extra kilometres are charged at the plain class rate: Rs 36 per km in a sedan, Rs 57.6 in an Innova Crysta.

Dabolim or Mopa: which airport is on your ticket?
Dabolim (GOI) is Goa's older airport, a civil enclave on a naval air station near Vasco. It is compact, the walk from arrivals to the car is short, and it is the better landing for South Goa: Colva, Benaulim, Varca, Cavelossim, Agonda and Palolem. Panaji is under an hour away across the Zuari.
Mopa (GOX), officially Manohar International Airport, opened in 2023 on a plateau in Pernem taluka. It is closest to North Goa's beaches from Arambol down to Anjuna and Baga, and it is linked to the national highway by a dedicated access road. From Mopa, South Goa is a long drive, often two hours or more.
Airlines divide their Goa flights between the two, and some operate from both, so check the three-letter code on your booking: GOI or GOX. We read the airport from your flight number as well, but if you are choosing flights, pick the airport nearer your hotel. It can save you an hour each way and a few hundred rupees in extra kilometres.
Step-by-step arrival at Dabolim and at Mopa
Dabolim (GOI)
- Dabolim's terminal is compact. After the belts (and immigration and customs for international and charter flights), walk out of the arrivals exit.
- The meet-and-greet area is immediately outside. Your chauffeur holds a board with your name; charter passengers should also look out for their tour operator's reps, who stand in the same area.
- The walk to the car park is short. Because Dabolim is on a naval air station, some roads around the airfield have restrictions, and the chauffeur follows the permitted route out.
Mopa (GOX)
- Mopa's terminal is larger and newer, with a longer walk from the gates to the baggage hall.
- Leave through the arrivals exit into the greeting zone, where the chauffeur waits with your name.
- He walks you to the parking area for commercial vehicles and then down the access road to the national highway.
At both airports the car leaves only after the chauffeur has confirmed your hotel or villa address and, for villas, the map pin.

How pickup works at either airport
Before your flight, you receive the chauffeur's name, contact and car plate. We track the flight, and the chauffeur is at arrivals when you land, not when you were scheduled to land. Walk out of the terminal with your bags and look for your name on a board in the meeting area; he will walk you to the parking area where tourist vehicles load.
International arrivals, including charter flights from the UK and Russia in winter, get 60 minutes of free waiting after landing; domestic arrivals get 30 minutes. If immigration queues or bags run over that, extra waiting is charged at the hourly rate on your booking, and you hear from the chauffeur before it starts. The airline's own delays are never your cost.
Goa's taxi rules, and why a pre-booked car helps
Transport in Goa has its own character. Both airports run prepaid taxi counters, and local tourist taxis carry state permits. The state has also backed app-based booking. What these options often lack is a guaranteed car of a specific size, waiting with your name, at a price you know weeks ahead.
RutzIndia.com cars working in Goa run on the commercial tourist permits required in the state, so your chauffeur can collect you at the airport and drive you around Goa legally. If you plan to leave the state, for example into Karnataka towards Gokarna or into Maharashtra, tell us when booking so the right permit is arranged; state permit charges are billed at actual cost.

Counter taxis, GoaMiles and a pre-booked car compared
Both Goa airports have prepaid taxi counters, and the state-backed app-based service GoaMiles also operates. Here is how the options work in practice:
| Airport prepaid counter | App-based taxi | RutzIndia.com | |
|---|---|---|---|
| When you book | On arrival | On arrival, in the app | Before you fly |
| Fare | Counter tariff to your area | Shown in the app | Fixed class fare for 40 km, then per km |
| Meeting | Queue at the counter | App pickup point | Chauffeur at the exit with your name |
| Vehicle | Counter's available taxis | App categories | Sedan, Ertiga, Innova Crysta, Fortuner, luxury SUV, Tempo Traveller |
| Stays with you for the holiday | No | No | Can continue on local packages |
If you land alone with one bag and no plans, the counter works well. A pre-booked car helps most when a group lands together, when the hotel is far from the airport you land at, or when you want the same chauffeur for the rest of the stay.
Inclusions for a Goa airport transfer
- In the fare: car, chauffeur, fuel, the first 40 km, flight tracking, name-board meet, free waiting and night pickups at no extra cost.
- At actual cost: airport parking or entry fees, any toll, and interstate permits if you leave Goa.
- At the class rate: each kilometre past 40 (Rs 36 sedan, Rs 57.6 Innova Crysta, Rs 84 Fortuner) and waiting beyond the free window.
- Tax: 5% GST on the fare.
Peak season, festivals and the monsoon
Goa's travel year is sharply seasonal:
- October to March is peak season, with charter flights, weddings and full hotels. Christmas and New Year week is the busiest of all, with heavy traffic on the Calangute-Baga road and around Anjuna and Vagator after dark.
- December also brings large music festivals in North Goa, when roads around the venues are congested late into the night.
- Carnival (February or March) sees parades in Panaji, Margao, Mapusa and Vasco, with roads closed during processions. Shigmo follows in spring with float parades.
- June to September is the monsoon: the coast is green and quiet, beach shacks close, and some coastal lanes waterlog after heavy rain. Transfers run normally but take longer.
In peak weeks larger vehicles are booked out first, so reserve an Innova Crysta or a Tempo Traveller as soon as your flights are fixed.
Flying out: when to leave for Dabolim or Mopa
Departure timing in Goa depends less on traffic jams than on distance and a few slow stretches. Some rules of thumb from our dispatch desk:
- To Dabolim from South Goa beaches (Colva, Benaulim, Varca): leave about two hours before a domestic flight and three before an international one.
- To Dabolim from the north (Baga, Calangute, Anjuna): allow three hours for domestic and four for international in season, because the Panaji bridges and Porvorim junctions back up in the evening.
- To Mopa from the north coast: 90 minutes before domestic check-in closes is usually enough from Arambol or Morjim; add 30 minutes from Calangute or Candolim.
- To Mopa from South Goa: treat it as a long drive of two hours or more, and leave at least four hours before an international departure.
Hotel checkout times in Goa are often at noon, while many flights leave in the evening. The gap is a good use for a 4 hours / 40 km local package (Rs 4,750 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan with the Goa factor): lunch at a shack, a last swim, then straight to the terminal with your bags already in the boot.
Villas, beach weddings and group arrivals
Goa's destination weddings bring guests on many different flights over two or three days, often split between Dabolim and Mopa. We handle that by booking each arrival against its own flight, grouping guests who land within the same hour into one vehicle, and keeping larger cars on standby for the main arrival day. A Tempo Traveller in Goa is the usual guest shuttle between the hotel and a beach or church venue, and the couple's car can come from luxury car rental in Goa or our national wedding car rental range.
Villa guests in Assagao, Siolim or Parra should share a map pin when booking: many villas sit down unnamed lanes, and a pin gets the chauffeur to the gate without a late-night search.
Resorts, casinos and conference hotels we reach
Goa's hotel map is spread along 100 km of coast, and the airport you choose decides the drive:
- South Goa resorts at Cansaulim, Arossim, Majorda, Varca, Cavelossim and Mobor are close to Dabolim, most within the fixed fare.
- North Goa's beach hotels from Candolim and Sinquerim to Calangute and Baga are reachable from either airport, but Mopa is usually quicker.
- Panaji's riverfront casinos and hotels sit roughly halfway, and the chauffeur can drop you at the jetty for the offshore casino boats.
- Conference and wedding resorts in both halves of the state often host several events at once; add the event name to the booking so the chauffeur uses the right gate.
- Villas in Assagao, Siolim, Parra and Aldona are best reached from Mopa.
For groups larger than a Tempo Traveller, a bus on rent moves up to 45 guests with luggage, and a Force Urbania on rent is a comfortable van for 10 to 17. Couples who want an SUV can book a Fortuner on rent, and returning Goans abroad often keep a car for the whole visit through NRI car hire in India.
Across the border: Gokarna and the Konkan coast
Goa's airports are also the nearest gateways to beaches just outside the state. Gokarna in Karnataka is roughly 150 km south of Dabolim, which under the airport rule is about Rs 8,320 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan (Rs 4,360 Pay Now to Reserve for 40 km plus 110 km at Rs 36) and Rs 13,890 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta. To the north, Mopa is the natural airport for the Sindhudurg coast in Maharashtra, with Tarkarli and Malvan roughly 90 km away, about Rs 6,160 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan. Both trips cross a state border, so the interstate permit is added at actual cost and arranged before the day, so the stop at the state check post is brief.
Beyond the transfer: days out and the road home
The chauffeur who collects you can stay for the holiday. A local 8 hours / 80 km package with the Goa factor is Rs 7,920 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan and Rs 13,860 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta, enough for Old Goa's churches, the spice farms around Ponda, or a day of north-Goa beaches. See car rental with driver in Goa and, for shorter hops, taxi service in Goa.
Many travellers also drive in or out of Goa. The Mumbai to Goa taxi covers about 590 km on NH-66 through the Konkan, usually over two days for a round trip, and a single drop is simpler as a one-way taxi.
Booking, what the fare covers, and cancellation
Book on the online booker: choose the airport, add your flight number and the hotel or villa, pick the car class and pay by card or UPI. Every car is a commercial vehicle within four model years.
The fare covers the car, chauffeur, fuel, the first 40 km, flight tracking, the name-board meet and the free waiting window. It does not cover 5% GST, parking or entry charges, tolls, distance beyond 40 km, interstate permits or extra waiting.
Cancelling more than 72 hours before pickup costs nothing. After that we keep 10% of the fare within 72 hours, 50% within 48 hours and the full fare within 24 hours or for a no-show. If your flight is cancelled by the airline, we move the booking to the replacement flight instead. Read the cancellation policy for the complete terms.
