Goa looks small on a map, but anyone who has tried to see Fort Aguada in the morning, Old Goa's churches at noon and Palolem at sunset knows the distances add up. Add narrow village roads, unlit stretches after dark, scarce parking at Baga and Calangute, and a holiday where you would rather enjoy a glass of feni than stay sober to drive, and the case for car rental with driver in Goa makes itself. On RutzIndia.com you book one car and one chauffeur for a fixed block of time, with the airport pickup, the beach-hopping and the late dinner all on one fare.
Car rental with driver in Goa: what it costs
In Goa, a car with driver costs Rs 7,920 Pay Now to Reserve for 8 hours and 80 km in a Dzire class sedan, or Rs 13,860 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta for six. A 4-hour, 40 km outing starts at Rs 4,740 Pay Now to Reserve, and an airport transfer of up to 40 km is Rs 4,350 Pay Now to Reserve in a Dzire. Fares are before 5% GST, with parking and tolls charged as paid.
Goa's fares carry a 10% city factor over the national base, the same as Mumbai's. The table leads with the day packages and adds the airport transfer price, because most Goa trips begin at Mopa or Dabolim.
| Vehicle class | Day: 8 hr, 80 km | Long day: 12 hr, 120 km | Airport transfer, up to 40 km | Each further hour | Each further km |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dzire class sedan | Rs 7,920 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 13,320 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 4,350 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 990 | Rs 36 |
| Ertiga class, 6 seats | Rs 9,900 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 16,530 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 5,460 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,230 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 42 |
| City or Verna class | Rs 11,880 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 19,740 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 6,540 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 48 |
| Innova Crysta class, 6 seats | Rs 13,860 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 23,070 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 7,620 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 1,740 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 57.6 |
| Fortuner class SUV | Rs 24,750 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 40,500 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 13,620 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 3,090 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 84 |
| E-Class or 5 Series | Rs 41,250 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 68,490 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 22,680 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 5,160 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 170 |
| Tempo Traveller, 12-26 seats | Rs 21,450 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 35,310 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 11,790 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 2,670 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 78 |
The half-day 4 hr / 40 km package is 60% of the day price: Rs 4,740 Pay Now to Reserve in a Dzire and Rs 8,310 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta. When a package runs over, each hour costs about Rs 990 in a Dzire or Rs 1,740 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta. All prices are before 5% GST.

North Goa, South Goa and why kilometres matter here
In most Indian cities, a chauffeur package runs out of hours long before it runs out of kilometres. Goa is the exception. The coast from Arambol in the north to Palolem in the south is well over 100 km by road, so a day that tries to cover both halves will pass the 80 km limit. That is fine; the overage is simply billed at your car's per-km rate. The trick is to plan the day so you are not paying for kilometres you did not need.
A worked example: an Innova Crysta collects a family of six from a villa in Candolim at 9 am, visits the Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral in Old Goa, has lunch in Panjim's Fontainhas quarter, then drives south to Colva and Palolem for the evening and returns at 7 pm after about 160 km. Ten hours against eight adds two hours at Rs 1,740 each; 160 km against 80 adds 80 km at Rs 57.6, which is Rs 4,560 Pay Now to Reserve. With the Rs 13,860 Pay Now to Reserve package, the day comes to about Rs 21,900 Pay Now to Reserve before GST and parking. Split the same sights over two days, one north and one south, and each day fits inside a plain 8-hour package.
A north-Goa day, for example, might run from Fort Aguada and Sinquerim to the Chapora Fort viewpoint, lunch at Vagator, the beaches of Morjim and Ashwem and a sunset at Arambol, all within about 80 km. A south-Goa day could take in the spice plantations near Ponda, the Mangueshi temple, Benaulim and Cabo de Rama fort.
Inland Goa: temples, spice farms and the Western Ghats
The beaches get the attention, but a day inland shows another Goa, and it is almost impossible to do well without a car. The temple town of Ponda holds some of Goa's most important Hindu shrines, including the Shri Mangueshi and Shri Shantadurga temples, with their lamp towers and Indo-Portuguese facades. A short drive away, several working spice plantations offer guided walks and a Goan lunch. Further east, towards the Karnataka border, the small twelfth-century Tambdi Surla temple, built in black basalt, sits in the forest near the Bhagwan Mahaveer sanctuary, and the drive through the foothills of the Western Ghats is one of the loveliest in the state.
From a North Goa hotel, a Ponda, spice farm and Tambdi Surla day is roughly 150 to 170 km, so plan for an 8-hour package with extra kilometres, or a 12-hour package if you want to take it slowly. None of these places has a taxi stand, and mobile signal can be patchy in the hills, which is exactly when having your own chauffeur waiting in the car park is worth it.

A week with one chauffeur
Many families staying a week in a villa keep the same car and driver throughout, alternating full days of sightseeing with shorter evening outings. Seven 8-hour days in an Innova Crysta cost 7 x Rs 13,860 Pay Now to Reserve = Rs 97,020 Pay Now to Reserve before GST, with any extra hours or kilometres added at the class rates, and parking and ferry fares at cost. The advantage goes beyond price: the chauffeur learns your routine, knows the villa gate code and the children's favourite beach, and there is no daily negotiation. The desk quotes a week in writing, and single days can be changed or dropped with the usual cancellation terms.
Two airports: Mopa and Dabolim
Goa now has two airports, and knowing which one you are flying into changes the drive. Manohar International Airport at Mopa, in Pernem taluka, is run by GMR Goa and sits in the far north, close to Morjim, Mandrem and Arambol. Dabolim Airport, near Vasco da Gama, is more central and nearer to Panjim and the southern beaches. A transfer covers up to 40 km; longer runs, such as Mopa to Palolem, add each further kilometre at the car's per-km rate.
If you are starting a day's hire from the airport, the chauffeur follows your flight and meets you at arrivals with a name board. After touchdown, international passengers have 60 minutes free and domestic passengers 30; beyond that, the waiting time is billed at the hourly rate. For a transfer on its own, the Goa airport taxi page is the simplest way to book.

Chauffeur versus scooter, self-drive and local taxis
Goa is famous for self-drive scooters and cars, and for a confident rider on a quiet beach road they are fun. The downsides appear quickly for families and first-time visitors: monsoon showers and summer heat, unlit village lanes at night, crowded parking at the popular beaches, and the rule that you cannot drink and drive. Rental deposits and the risk of damage claims also sit with you.
Local taxis in Goa often quote per trip, and app-based ride-hailing is thinner here than in the big metros, so the evening ride back from a beach shack can be slow to arrange. A car with driver removes that uncertainty: the chauffeur is waiting when you finish dinner, and the price was agreed before the holiday began. For a single point-to-point hop, our Goa taxi service is enough.
| Holiday situation | Rented scooter or self-drive car | Local taxi or app ride | Chauffeur-driven car by the day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beach-hopping from Candolim to Palolem | Long ride in sun or rain | New fare negotiated at each beach | One car, one agreed price |
| Getting home after dinner and drinks | Not legal to drive | Can be slow to find late at night | Driver waiting outside |
| Unlit village lanes after dark | Your responsibility | Driver-dependent | Local chauffeur who knows them |
| Beach parking in peak season | Crowded, paid, far from the sand | Drop only | Drop at the entrance, car waits |
| Deposit and damage liability | Yours | None | None; fare only |
| Suits | Confident riders on quiet days | One-off transfers | Families, groups, evenings out, weddings |
Evenings, shacks and a designated driver
Many Goa bookings are evening-only. A 4-hour package, Rs 4,740 Pay Now to Reserve in a Dzire, covers a sunset at a beach shack, dinner in Assagao or on Tito's Lane in Baga, and the ride back to your hotel. Visitors heading to the casinos on the Mandovi in Panjim, the seasonal night markets at Arpora, or the Anjuna flea market on a Wednesday use the same package. It is the simplest way to make sure nobody in the group has to stay sober to drive.
Railway stations and arrivals by road
Goa's main long-distance trains stop at Madgaon (Margao) in the south, Thivim in the north near Mapusa, Karmali near Old Goa and Panjim, and Vasco da Gama close to Dabolim airport. Choose the right one when you book your ticket: Thivim is the natural station for Anjuna, Baga and Morjim, while Madgaon suits Colva, Benaulim and Palolem. Share the train and coach number and the chauffeur meets you on the platform side with a name board. Many families also drive down from Mumbai, Pune or Bangalore and then want a car with driver once they arrive, so they can leave the long-distance car at the hotel and not worry about drinking with dinner.
Areas we cover across Goa
A package can start at any hotel, villa or homestay in the state. The places our chauffeurs collect from most often:
- Far north: Arambol, Mandrem, Ashwem, Morjim, Siolim, Pernem, Mopa airport

Ferries, islands and river crossings
Goa is laced with rivers, and a few of its prettiest corners are still reached by ferry. The island villages of Divar and Chorao, with their old churches, paddy fields and the Salim Ali bird sanctuary on Chorao, are reached by the roll-on roll-off ferries from Old Goa and Ribandar, which carry cars as well as foot passengers. With a chauffeur, the car simply rolls on to the ferry with you, and you can spend an unhurried morning cycling or walking before crossing back for lunch in Panjim. Ferry fares are small and charged at cost, and the crossing time counts toward your package hours in the usual way.
Weddings, villas and group stays
Goa is one of India's favourite destination-wedding settings, from beach lawns in the south to heritage villas in the north. Couples and planners typically book several cars for three or four days: guest shuttles in a Tempo Traveller in Goa, family cars on 12-hour packages, and a special car for the couple. Decorated cars and the premium fleet are on wedding car rental and luxury car rental in Goa, and a vintage car for the wedding suits Goa's Portuguese-era churches and villas beautifully.
Seasons: Christmas, New Year, Carnival and the monsoon
The high season runs from November to February, peaking over Christmas and New Year's Eve, when hotels fill, parties run late and demand for chauffeurs is at its highest. Book as early as you can. Carnival in February or March brings parades through Panjim, Margao and Mapusa, and Shigmo follows in spring. From June to September the monsoon closes most beach shacks and turns the Western Ghats a vivid green; it is a good time for drives inland to the Dudhsagar falls area and the spice farms, though the final stretch to the falls is by authorised jeep. The Goa Tourism site lists events and seasonal notices.
Leaving Goa by road
Trips beyond Goa are billed on kilometres, with a floor of 250 km for each calendar day of a round trip, plus the chauffeur's allowance of Rs 1,500 for each night away. Karnataka and Maharashtra permits and tolls are passed on at cost. Before GST:
- Gokarna for the day, Dzire: about 300 km there and back, so 300 x Rs 36 = Rs 10,800 Pay Now to Reserve.
- Hampi over three days, Innova Crysta: roughly 660 km, under the three-day floor of 750 km, so 750 x Rs 57.6 = Rs 42,750 plus two nights' allowance.
- Mumbai: about 590 km each way. Most travellers go one way; see Mumbai to Goa taxi and, for other single-direction drops, one way taxi.
The outstation cabs page explains how multi-day billing works across state lines.
Picking the right car for a Goa holiday
Couples and solo travellers are well served by a Dzire, which is also the easiest car to park near the busy beaches. A family of five with beach bags and a pram will be happier in an Ertiga, and six adults with suitcases for a week should choose the Innova Crysta, whose captain seats and strong air-conditioning make the long run from Mopa to the south comfortable. For a honeymoon, an anniversary dinner or a client you want to look after, the E-Class or a Fortuner changes the tone of the trip. Groups of friends travelling together for a bachelor weekend or a reunion are usually better off in one Tempo Traveller than in a convoy.
What the package fare covers is simple: the car, fuel for the included kilometres and the chauffeur's time. Parking at the beaches, entry fees at forts and churches, ferry fares and any tolls are paid at cost. On multi-day holidays many guests keep the same chauffeur throughout, which means he learns where you like to eat, when you want to leave for the beach and which villa gate to use at night.
Booking and cancellation
Wedding planners and groups needing several cars can send the plan to the travel desk; a six-seater for a week is covered on Innova Crysta on rent. For the northern airport's layout and access road, see the Manohar International Airport entry.
Choose Goa, the package and the car, then book online and pay by card or UPI; add a GSTIN for a company invoice. The chauffeur's name and car number follow before your pickup. Every car is within four model years, except Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach, which may be up to seven. Cancelling costs nothing more than 72 hours before pickup, then 10% of the fare, 50% inside 48 hours and the full fare inside 24 hours or for a no-show. The details are on our cancellation policy page.
