What makes the Vellfire different from an SUV

Most luxury SUVs are designed around the driver. The Vellfire is designed around the people behind him.

• Captain chairs in the middle row: two individual seats that recline, with powered leg rests and armrests. On a five-hour drive, this is the difference between arriving tired and arriving ready.
• Power sliding doors: they open wide on both sides, even in a tight hotel porch or a narrow lane where a hinged SUV door would hit the wall.
• Low, flat floor: easy for elderly guests, children and anyone in a heavy lehenga or sherwani. No climbing, no grab-handle acrobatics.
• Quiet cabin: the Vellfire sold in India is a hybrid, and at low speeds in city traffic it is remarkably hushed, which is ideal for calls or a nap between events.

Your chauffeur follows the flight number, holds a sign with the family name in the arrivals hall, and allows an hour free after an international landing (half an hour for a domestic one) before any waiting is charged at the package's hourly rate. The low floor and wide door help passengers recovering from surgery, those using a walking frame, or anyone who struggles with a high SUV step. The Vellfire is superb on expressways and national highways. Here is what common trips cost at Rs 210/km, before GST, tolls and parking:

For return journeys the meter reads whichever is higher: the kilometres actually driven, or 250 km for every calendar day the car is away. Each night the chauffeur spends out of town carries an allowance of between Rs 900 and Rs 1,800 Pay Now to Reserve, which covers his food and bed. Reserving a Vellfire: the short version

Tell us where and when the day begins, how many guests are travelling, roughly how much luggage, and whether you want a half day, a full day or an out-of-town run. The booking form takes about two minutes, or you can WhatsApp the desk if you would rather chat. You get back a written quote that separates the package fare, the 5% GST and our best estimate of tolls and parking on your route, so the final bill holds no surprises.

A part-payment by card or UPI through the booker secures the car. Businesses can ask for the invoice to carry the company name and GSTIN. The night before, we message the chauffeur's name and the vehicle's registration. Whatever is left, including the pass-through costs with their receipts, is settled once the job is done.

Changing your mind costs nothing if you do it more than three days (72 hours) ahead. Inside 72 hours we retain a tenth of the fare, inside 48 hours half, and inside 24 hours or for a no-show the full amount. The exact wording sits on our cancellation policy page.

Getting the most from a day in the Vellfire

A few habits make a Vellfire day noticeably better. Put the two most important passengers, or the two who most need rest, in the middle captain chairs; the third row is fine for younger guests and short hops. Ask the chauffeur to set the rear climate zone before pickup in summer, when a black MPV parked in the sun can take ten minutes to cool. If you will change outfits between a haldi and a reception, tell us: the privacy glass and curtains on many Vellfires make the cabin a workable dressing room, and the chauffeur will step away and park somewhere shaded. For long drives, pack a small cooler bag; the fold-out tables and cup holders make lunch on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway surprisingly civilised. And if you are travelling with an infant, bring your own child seat and the chauffeur will help you fit it securely.

Vellfire, Innova Crysta or Range Rover?

If you need the Vellfire's comfort but not its price, the Innova Crysta seats six at Rs 57.6/km and remains India's most trusted family road-trip car. If you want visual presence for a groom's arrival more than lounge seating, a Range Rover on rent at Rs 225.6/km makes the bigger statement. The luxury MPV class has two members with identical pricing. Delhi base, before 5% GST:

The hourly overtime figure is simply the local full-day fare divided by eight. That makes it Rs 7,430 Pay Now to Reserve in Mumbai and Goa (Rs 59,400 / 8), Rs 7,090 Pay Now to Reserve in Bangalore (rounded from Rs 56,700 / 8) and Rs 6,410 Pay Now to Reserve in Jaipur, Kolkata and Ahmedabad (rounded from Rs 51,300 / 8). The per-kilometre overtime is Rs 210 everywhere.

A shoot-day example in Mumbai. A Vellfire moves an actor between a Juhu hotel, a studio in Goregaon and an evening event in BKC. The day runs 10 hours and 72 km: Rs 59,400 Pay Now to Reserve for the package plus 2 hours at Rs 7,430 Pay Now to Reserve (Rs 14,850 Pay Now to Reserve), with the kilometres inside the allowance. Total Rs 74,250 Pay Now to Reserve, or Rs 77,960 Pay Now to Reserve with 5% GST (rounded), plus parking at the studio and venue at cost.

Chauffeur standards for a Vellfire

A Vellfire is usually carrying several people with different needs, from a toddler to a grandparent to a busy executive. The chauffeur's job is as much hospitality as driving.

• Door safety: the power sliding doors are operated by the chauffeur at pickups and drops, with a check for small hands and trailing saris or dupattas before they close.
• Boarding help: a steady arm for elderly passengers at the step, and the middle-row captain chairs slid and reclined into position before they sit.
• Luggage handling: suitcases loaded by the chauffeur, heaviest at the bottom, with fragile gifts or wedding trousseau boxes kept in the cabin if you prefer.
• Cabin set-up: rear climate, sunshades and reading lights set before pickup; the middle-row controls explained once, then left to you.
• Calm driving: gentle braking and cornering, because passengers in reclined lounge seats feel every jolt; speed breakers taken at walking pace.
• Formal presentation and discretion: dark formal clothing, no smoking, no personal calls, no photographs and no discussion of passengers, which matters especially for celebrity movement.

How the age rule applies to a Vellfire

Every Vellfire and Carnival we confirm is within four model years of the current model. On a luxury MPV the benefits are tangible: power doors and seat motors work smoothly, the lounge upholstery is not worn, and the rear entertainment and climate systems behave as they should. Toyota's Vellfire in India is a hybrid, and a newer car also means a hybrid system in its prime, which is what gives the cabin its hush in slow city traffic.

Twelve hours or so before pickup, we send the registration number. You can confirm its registration date on the government's Parivahan website or through the mParivahan app. A mismatch with the confirmation means the chauffeur should wait while you call the desk for a replacement or a refund of that car.

Costed plans for common Vellfire bookings

If several people are sharing the car all day, the per-head cost is often lower than you would expect: five travellers splitting an 8-hour Delhi day pay Rs 10,800 each before GST.

Pilgrimage and temple day trips by Vellfire

The flat floor and reclining seats make the Vellfire a favourite for families taking elders on pilgrimage along good highways. Round trips are billed on the greater of actual kilometres or 250 km per day.

Tolls and temple-town parking are extra at cost. At busy shrines vehicles are often stopped some distance from the temple; the chauffeur drops you as close as the local police allow and waits at the designated lot. Festival days such as Janmashtami in Vrindavan and Mathura, or Guru Purnima at Shirdi, bring heavy crowds and diversions, so start early. Moving around Mumbai in a Vellfire

Mumbai is where the Vellfire is most in demand, and it is also the city where timing matters most. Some practical local knowledge from our desk:

• Airport to South Mumbai: the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and the Mumbai Coastal Road have made the western route much faster outside peak hours. At 9 am or 7 pm on a weekday, allow at least an hour and a half; late at night the same journey can take under 45 minutes.
• Film City and Goregaon studios: shoot call times are often early. For a 7 am call from a Juhu or Bandra hotel, the chauffeur reports by 6 am, since the Western Express Highway and the approach roads to the studios can clog quickly once the morning rush starts.
• BKC and Lower Parel: office towers have strict car-entry rules, and a long MPV sometimes cannot use the smaller porches. We confirm the drop point with building security in advance where you give us the address.
• South Mumbai heritage hotels and clubs: porches around Colaba and Churchgate are compact. The Vellfire's sliding doors are a real advantage here, because a hinged door would hit the pillar.
• Monsoon: between June and September the chauffeur checks waterlogging updates before every trip and reroutes around flood-prone underpasses. Pack an umbrella in the cabin regardless.

Kerala arrivals and short drives from Kochi

Families returning to Kerala for weddings often land at Cochin International Airport with plenty of luggage and elderly relatives waiting at home. A Vellfire from CIAL to homes in Ernakulam, Aluva or Thrissur district works well on the national highway, and the airport package covers up to 40 km at Rs 29,700 Pay Now to Reserve before GST and parking; further destinations add Rs 210 per extra kilometre. For hill-station drives such as Munnar or Thekkady, where roads climb through tight bends, we usually recommend an Innova Crysta instead. When a company hosts four or five senior visitors, one Vellfire often replaces two sedans and keeps the group together. What makes it work:
