How much is a Mumbai to Nashik taxi?
On RutzIndia.com a one-way Mumbai to Nashik taxi is Rs 6,120 Pay Now to Reserve in a Dzire-class sedan and Rs 9,690 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta, for about 170 km. A same-day return (340 km) is Rs 12,240 Pay Now to Reserve by sedan. Add 5% GST; highway tolls and parking at Nashik temples or wineries are billed at actual cost.
Nashik draws three very different kinds of traveller out of Mumbai. Pilgrims come for the Jyotirlinga at Trimbakeshwar, a holy dip at Ramkund in Panchavati and the climb to Saptashrungi. Weekenders come for the vineyards on Gangapur Road and the Dindori belt, where tasting rooms and harvest festivals fill up from December to March. And business visitors head for the Satpur and Ambad MIDC estates, the aircraft works at Ozar and the city's growing IT parks. A private cab suits all three, because the destinations are scattered across a wide area that buses and trains do not connect conveniently.
Our chauffeurs collect you anywhere in Mumbai, Thane or Navi Mumbai, cross the Sahyadri at the Kasara ghat and drop you at your temple, hotel or plant gate. The fare is set by distance and vehicle and shown before you pay on the booking page.

Other options: a Honda City or Verna premium sedan is Rs 8,160 Pay Now to Reserve one way; a Fortuner Rs 14,280 Pay Now to Reserve; a Force Urbania for up to 17 passengers Rs 17,340 Pay Now to Reserve. Per-km rates behind these numbers are Rs 36 for a sedan, Rs 42 for an Ertiga, Rs 57.6 for an Innova and Rs 78 for a Tempo Traveller.
These are base fares. On top come 5% GST, toll plazas on the highway (paid by FASTag and itemised), temple-town and winery parking, and on overnight trips a driver night allowance between Rs 900 and Rs 1,800 per night. Round trips of more than a day are billed on the greater of actual kilometres and 250 km per calendar day.
Here is a real-world shape of a pilgrimage weekend. Six family members leave Borivali on Saturday at 5 am in an Innova, take darshan at Trimbakeshwar by 10, lunch in Nashik, see Panchavati and the Kalaram temple in the evening, stay overnight, drive to Saptashrungi on Sunday morning and return to Mumbai by night. That is roughly 520 km, so the base is 520 x Rs 57.6 = Rs 29,640 Pay Now to Reserve, plus one night allowance, tolls, parking and GST.

The route out of Mumbai and over the Kasara ghat
The standard road leaves the city on the Eastern Express Highway to Thane, then joins the Mumbai–Nashik highway (NH 160) through Bhiwandi, Padgha and Shahapur. Beyond Shahapur the plain ends at the foot of the Sahyadri and the highway climbs the Kasara ghat, with separate carriageways for uphill and downhill traffic. At the top lies Igatpuri, then Ghoti, and a fast run across the plateau into Nashik.
Time goes in three places. First, the stretch from Thane through Bhiwandi, heavy with container trucks serving the warehouses; a dawn start makes a big difference here. Second, the ghat itself, where slow trucks climb in low gear and a single breakdown can hold a lane. Third, Nashik's own entry, particularly Dwarka circle and the Mumbai Naka junction at evening peak.
The Samruddhi Mahamarg, Maharashtra's Mumbai–Nagpur expressway, now connects the Thane district end with Igatpuri. Depending on your pickup and the traffic on the day, a chauffeur may use it to bypass the Kasara ghat truck queue and rejoin the old highway for Nashik. You are billed the one-way fare on the quoted distance either way. Toll receipts for whichever road is used are handed over with the trip sheet.
Leave Mumbai between 5 and 6:30 am for a three-and-a-half-hour run. A mid-morning weekday start is fine too once the Thane peak has eased; late Friday evenings are the slowest.

Distance, drive time and tolls, leg by leg
| Leg | About km | Time on a 5:30 am start | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dadar or Sion to Thane via the Eastern Express Highway | about 25 | 35-45 min | worst in the 8-11 am and 6-9 pm peaks |
| Thane to Bhiwandi and Shahapur on NH 160 | about 50 | 60-70 min | warehouse and container traffic; toll plaza on this section |
| Shahapur to Kasara and up the ghat to Igatpuri | about 40 | 45-60 min | separate up and down carriageways; fog and rain in the monsoon |
| Igatpuri to Ghoti and into Nashik | about 45 | 45-50 min | open plateau; a further plaza before the city; slow at Nashik's entry junctions in the evening |
| Whole run | about 160-170 | about 3.5 hrs | tolls at actual from FASTag receipts |
Train, MSRTC bus, self-drive or a chauffeur cab
| Option | Where you arrive | Time door to door | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Train from CSMT, Dadar, LTT or Thane | Nashik Road station, several kilometres from Panchavati and the city centre | 4 to 5 hrs including onward auto | solo trips and weekday business visits |
| MSRTC bus, ordinary or air-conditioned | Nashik city bus stands | 4.5 to 5.5 hrs | budget travel from Thane or Borivali |
| Self-drive | wherever you find parking; Panchavati and Trimbak are tight | 3.5 hrs plus parking | drivers comfortable with the ghat |
| RutzIndia.com chauffeur cab | your temple, hotel, winery or plant gate | about 3.5 hrs | families, pilgrims, groups, anyone doing Trimbakeshwar the same day |
Nashik is well served by rail; many long-distance trains towards Bhusaval and north India stop at Nashik Road, and schedules are on the Indian Railways enquiry site. The catch for pilgrims is that Trimbakeshwar is another 35 km or so beyond the station, so a train trip still needs a car at the far end. Four people sharing a sedan pay Rs 1,530 each on the one-way base fare, before GST and tolls.

Places to stop on the way
- Shahapur and the Mahuli fort foothills: a green break before the climb, with roadside breakfast joints.
- Kasara ghat viewpoints: in the monsoon, waterfalls stream down the rock faces beside the road; stop only at safe lay-bys.
- Igatpuri: home to Dhamma Giri, the Vipassana meditation centre; students attending a course are often dropped at its gate. The Bhavali dam and the Camel Valley waterfalls are short detours in the rains.
- Bhandardara and Arthur Lake: a longer detour of about 45 km from Ghoti, popular for monsoon weekends and firefly season around May and June.
- Ghoti to Nashik: the plateau stretch, with grape and onion farms and dhabas serving misal pav.
Where we drop in Nashik and around it
- Panchavati: Ramkund, the Kalaram temple, Sita Gufa and the ghats of the Godavari. Streets near Ramkund are narrow and crowded; the car stops at the nearest parking and you walk the last few hundred metres.
- Trimbakeshwar: one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, about 28 km west of Nashik at the source of the Godavari. Queues for darshan can be long on Mondays, Shravan and Mahashivratri; details and timings are published by the Trimbakeshwar temple trust.
- Gangapur Road and the vineyards: tasting rooms, vineyard resorts and restaurants west of the city. Drivers wait while you taste; you do not drive.
- Nashik Road railway station, College Road, Canada Corner and CIDCO: hotels and residential areas.
- Satpur and Ambad MIDC, Sinnar, and HAL at Ozar: corporate and plant visits, with GST invoices on request.

Festivals, seasons and the 2027 Kumbh
Shravan (July to August): Mondays at Trimbakeshwar draw very large crowds; many devotees walk the Brahmagiri parikrama. Expect traffic controls on Trimbak Road. Monsoon (June to September): the ghat is at its most beautiful and its most demanding, with fog, heavy rain and occasional landslip warnings. Chauffeurs drive with headlamps on and keep extra time in hand.
Navratri (September or October): the Saptashrungi temple at Vani, about 60 km north of Nashik, sees huge pilgrim numbers. December to March: the grape harvest and wine-tourism season; February weekends around the big vineyard music festival book out early. Diwali and New Year: expect a busy Mumbai exit and full hotels.
The Simhastha Kumbh Mela at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar returns in 2027. During the main bathing days, authorities typically restrict private vehicles near the ghats and set up parking on the city edge with shuttles inward. If your travel falls in that period, book early and plan for walking. Maharashtra's official tourism information is at Maharashtra Tourism.

Groups, pilgrims and onward to Shirdi
Nashik and Shirdi are about 90 km apart, so many families combine them. Book the three-day circuit in the table above, or see the direct Mumbai to Shirdi taxi and Pune to Shirdi taxi fares. For a housing-society or temple group of 12 to 17, a Mumbai tempo traveller is the economical choice, and a 12 seater tempo traveller on rent suits smaller parties. Our wider pilgrimage taxi service covers Vrindavan, Haridwar and other circuits, and the Mumbai to Pune taxi and Mumbai to Goa taxi pages list the other big corridors from the city.
Every car we send is within four model years, air-conditioned and driven by a chauffeur who knows the ghat. Payment is by card or UPI through the booker, with the balance at trip end; corporates receive GST invoices.
For companies sending staff to Nashik
Nashik is one of Maharashtra's busiest industrial towns outside the Mumbai–Pune belt, with automotive, electrical and pharmaceutical plants in Satpur, Ambad, Sinnar and Igatpuri, and aerospace work at Ozar. Auditors, vendor teams and plant engineers make this trip every week. For them the priorities are an early start, a car that can double as a mobile office, and a clean invoice.
We suggest a premium sedan for one or two executives, since the quieter cabin makes the three-and-a-half-hour ride usable for calls, and an Innova Crysta from Mumbai for a team of four to six with laptop bags and sample cases. Same-day plant visits are billed on the 340 km return; if the audit runs into a second day, the car and chauffeur stay over for the night allowance. Monthly or recurring requirements can be set up on account through our corporate car rental desk, with GST invoices raised in the company's name and trip sheets attached.
Cancellation and changes
Cancel for free when pickup is more than 72 hours away. Closer in, the charge is 10% of the fare inside 72 hours, 50% inside 48 hours, and the full fare inside 24 hours or on no-show. Monsoon closures in the ghat are discussed with you directly. The full terms are on the cancellation policy page, and other corridors from Mumbai appear on our routes hub.
