Mumbai tests a car and its driver like few cities do: bumper-to-bumper crawls on the Western Express Highway, sea-link sprints, monsoon waterlogging at Hindmata and Andheri subway, and a steep climb up the Bhor ghat the moment you head for Pune. An Innova Crysta with an experienced Mumbai chauffeur takes all of it calmly. Book an Innova Crysta on rent in Mumbai through RutzIndia.com for Rs 13,860 per 8 hour city day, Rs 7,620 Pay Now to Reserve for an airport run, or Rs 57.6 per km on the highway.
Innova Crysta on rent in Mumbai: price list
Hiring an Innova Crysta in Mumbai with a driver costs Rs 13,860 Pay Now to Reserve for 8 hours and 80 km, Rs 8,320 Pay Now to Reserve for 4 hours and 40 km, and Rs 7,620 Pay Now to Reserve for an airport transfer within 40 km. Outstation travel from Mumbai is Rs 57.6 per km, for example Rs 8,550 one way to Pune. Prices exclude 5% GST, tolls and parking.

Airport transfers in an Innova
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) runs Terminal 1 for some domestic flights and Terminal 2 for international and most domestic departures, and the newer Navi Mumbai International Airport serves the eastern side of the region. An Innova suits families with checked baggage, groups of five or six, and business travellers who want room to work.
- Your chauffeur follows the flight status and stands at the arrival hall exit with a placard carrying your name.
- International arrivals get one hour of waiting at no charge and domestic arrivals thirty minutes; after that, time is charged at the hourly figure on your booking.
- Rs 7,620 Pay Now to Reserve covers transfers up to 40 km, enough for South Mumbai, Bandra, Powai, Thane and most of the western suburbs from BOM. Longer transfers, such as Navi Mumbai airport to Borivali, are priced on actual distance.
- Late-night landings are routine for us; Gulf and European flights often arrive between midnight and 5 am.
Sedan and luxury options are on our Mumbai airport taxi page.
A Mumbai city day by Innova
The 8 hour package covers most visitor itineraries: Gateway of India and the Taj Mahal Palace hotel frontage, the Kala Ghoda art district, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Marine Drive, Haji Ali and the Mahalaxmi dhobi ghat, then Bandra's Bandstand and the Sea Link at sunset. For darshan, many families combine Siddhivinayak in Prabhadevi, Mumba Devi and the Mahalaxmi temple in a morning. The Maharashtra Tourism site lists heritage walks and festival dates worth adding.
What we plan around in Mumbai:
- Peak hours: roughly 8 to 11 am southbound and 6 to 9 pm northbound on the Western and Eastern Express Highways. We time airport runs accordingly and add a cushion.
- Monsoon, June to September: heavy rain can flood low-lying junctions such as Andheri subway, Sion and King's Circle within an hour. The Innova's ground clearance helps, but drivers reroute early rather than wade through. Keep an extra hour free on red-alert days.
- Ganeshotsav: in August or September, immersion days close roads across the city, especially near Girgaon Chowpatty and Juhu. We plan around the procession routes.
- Parking: South Mumbai parking is scarce and often paid; the driver drops you at the door and circles or waits in a pay-and-park, billed at cost.
Business users like the Innova for days split between Nariman Point, BKC and Lower Parel, with room for colleagues and presentation bags. Companies receive GST invoices.

Mumbai city days: two sample plans
Heritage and sea front. Gateway of India and the Colaba Causeway market in the morning, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya museum, a drive past the Victorian and Art Deco buildings of the Oval Maidan, lunch at Fort, then Marine Drive and Chowpatty for sunset. The car drops and waits near each stop, which in South Mumbai means short, frequent halts rather than one long park.
Temples and suburbs. Siddhivinayak at opening time, Haji Ali Dargah (timed with low tide on the causeway), Mahalaxmi temple, then Bandra's Mount Mary Basilica, Bandstand and a café lunch in Pali Hill; ISKCON Juhu in the afternoon. Both plans fit an 8 hour / 80 km day at Rs 13,860 Pay Now to Reserve in normal traffic.
Monsoon getaways from Mumbai
The first heavy rains turn the Sahyadri ranges green, and weekend drives out of the city fill up.
- Lonavala and Khandala: Bhushi Dam, Tiger's Leap and the old highway viewpoints. A same-day trip is billed on the 250 km minimum, Rs 14,250 Pay Now to Reserve.
- Malshej Ghat: waterfalls along the road north-east of Kalyan; drivers slow right down on the wet hairpins.
- Igatpuri and the Kasara ghat: misty lakes and forts on the Nashik road.
- Matheran: vehicles stop at Dasturi Naka, and you walk, ride or take the toy train up to the hill station.
Monsoon roads are slippery and landslides can briefly close ghat sections; we plan hill legs to finish before dark where possible and keep an eye on weather alerts.
Ganeshotsav in Mumbai by Innova
The ten days of Ganeshotsav transform the city. Families book Innovas to visit the big pandals such as Lalbaugcha Raja, and for relatives visiting from out of town. Plan for heavy crowds and road closures around Lalbaug, Parel and Girgaon, especially at weekends and on immersion days. The driver drops you as close as police barricades allow and waits at an agreed point, and a 4 or 8 hour package is usually the right booking. For festival information and dates across the state, the Maharashtra Tourism and national Incredible India portals are useful.
Weekend and pilgrimage drives from Mumbai
Pune and Lonavala. The expressway makes the Mumbai to Pune taxi about three hours. Lonavala and Khandala are monsoon favourites; a same-day round trip is billed on the 250 km daily minimum.
Shirdi. About five hours via Nashik or the Samruddhi corridor, depending on the route your driver takes. The Mumbai to Shirdi taxi one-way fare is Rs 13,680 Pay Now to Reserve; many families add Shani Shingnapur the next morning. Thursdays and festival days bring larger crowds.
Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. Temples, the Godavari ghats and wineries, about three and a half hours away.
Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani. Strawberry season in winter and misty viewpoints in the monsoon; the ghat roads reward an experienced driver.
Goa. A long day of about 11 hours down NH-66 and the Konkan, or split with a night at Kolhapur or Ratnagiri. The Mumbai to Goa taxi page covers both routes.
For a national view of this car, including hill routes up north, see Innova Crysta on rent.
Timeline: Mumbai to Shirdi and back in one day
A demanding but popular day trip. Many families stay overnight instead, but if you must return the same day, this is how it usually runs.
| Time | Plan |
|---|---|
| 4:00 am | Pickup from Andheri or Thane; head north-east out of the city before traffic builds |
| 7:00 am | Breakfast stop near Nashik or Igatpuri |
| 9:30 am | Reach Shirdi; the car parks in the town's designated lots and the family walks to the temple complex |
| 10:00 am to 1:30 pm | Darshan (queues vary widely by day and season) and lunch |
| 2:00 pm | Optional detour to Shani Shingnapur, or head straight home |
| 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm | Back in Mumbai |
About 480 km, billed at Rs 27,360 plus tolls, parking and GST. Thursdays, holidays and festival days bring the longest queues; weekday visits are calmer. See the Mumbai to Shirdi route for more.
Arriving at Mumbai's Terminal 2
T2 at BOM is a large, multi-level terminal. After customs, walk out through the arrivals hall; your chauffeur waits at the exit with a name board, then walks you to the car in the pickup area. If your phone does not work on arrival, the driver's name and number are in your booking confirmation, so you can find him at the exit without calling. International arrivals get an hour of free waiting, and domestic arrivals thirty minutes. In the monsoon, allow for slower traffic on the Western Express Highway and the Sahar elevated road.
Mumbai traffic: when to travel
- Western Express Highway and SV Road: heaviest southbound between 8 and 11 am and northbound between 6 and 9 pm.
- Eastern Express Highway and LBS Marg: similar pattern, with Ghatkopar and Sion junctions the usual bottlenecks.
- Coastal Road and Sea Link: the fastest routes between South Mumbai and Bandra, with tolls on the Sea Link billed at cost.
- Airport runs: for a morning international departure, leave early; for late-night arrivals the roads are usually clear.
Our chauffeurs choose routes live with navigation apps and local knowledge, and we pad pickups for airport departures during peak hours. On weekends the pattern changes: Saturday evenings jam the roads to Bandra and Juhu, while Sunday mornings are the quietest time of the week to cross the city.
Weekend drives: Alibaug, Karjat and the coast
Beyond the famous hill stations, Mumbai families have a set of short escapes that suit an Innova well.
- Alibaug: by road around the harbour via Panvel and Pen, with beaches at Kihim, Nagaon and Varsoli and villas that host weekend weddings. Many families combine the drive with a return by ferry for part of the group.
- Karjat and Neral: resorts, farm stays and river rafting, close enough for a day trip and busy with corporate offsites on weekdays.
- Kashid and Murud: white-sand beaches and the Janjira sea fort further down the coast; best as an overnight trip.
- Dahanu and Bordi: chikoo orchards and quiet beaches to the north, a gentle drive up the Gujarat highway.
- Lonavala by the old highway: for families who prefer to avoid the expressway, the old Mumbai-Pune road through Khandala has more viewpoints and roadside chikki shops, at the cost of a slower drive; tell the chauffeur your preference in the morning, since the two roads split soon after Panvel and rejoin only near Lonavala itself.
Short trips like these are billed on the 250 km daily minimum for a round trip, so a same-day Innova outing costs Rs 14,250 plus tolls, parking and GST, and an overnight stay Rs 28,500 plus one driver allowance.
Weddings in Mumbai
Wedding season in Mumbai stretches from November to February, with banquet weddings in Juhu, Andheri and Goregaon, lawn weddings in Navi Mumbai and destination functions in Lonavala and Alibaug. Innovas carry family groups between hotels and venues, bring elders home after late receptions and handle the airport runs for guests flying in. We book them by the day with extra hours pre-agreed. For a decorated car for the couple, see wedding car rental in Mumbai; for large guest groups, tempo travellers in Mumbai work alongside.
Worked example: two days to Mahabaleshwar
A family of five leaves Andheri on Saturday morning, stays one night in Mahabaleshwar and returns on Sunday evening.
- Mumbai to Mahabaleshwar via the expressway and Wai is about 265 km each way; with local sightseeing to Venna Lake, Arthur's Seat and Panchgani, about 560 km in all.
- Two calendar days at 250 km per day is 500 km, so the actual 560 km is billed.
- Fare: 560 km at Rs 57.6 = Rs 31,920 Pay Now to Reserve.
- One night of chauffeur allowance, Rs 1,500.
- Expressway and highway tolls plus hill-station parking at cost, and 5% GST on the fare.
That is about Rs 6,390 per person for two days of door-to-door travel before tolls and GST.
When a booked Innova beats a kaali-peeli or an app ride
Mumbai's black-and-yellow taxis and app cabs are excellent for a quick hop from Churchgate to Colaba. A booked Innova earns its place on longer, more complicated days: several stops with shopping bags, elderly parents who need the car waiting outside a clinic, a 4 am airport departure where you cannot risk a cancelled ride, or a trip that leaves the city. The price is fixed before you start, the car stays with you, and the same chauffeur handles every leg. Visitors staying a week or more often move to car rental with driver in Mumbai, while special occasions call for a Mercedes or BMW from luxury car rental in Mumbai.
Corporate days, shoots and events
Mumbai's working rhythm suits a chauffeured Innova. Consultants rotate between BKC, Worli and Andheri; visiting teams cover a factory in Bhiwandi or Taloja and a client lunch in Lower Parel in the same day; production crews carry equipment between Film City in Goregaon and locations along the coast. The Innova's cabin takes four people with bags or six people travelling light, and the chauffeur keeps the car close while you work. For intercity work, the Pune to Mumbai taxi and Mumbai to Nashik taxi routes are the most booked business corridors. Companies can consolidate monthly bookings onto one GST invoice.
Pickup tips in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai
- Housing societies: security desks in Powai, Thane and Kharghar often need the flat number and visitor entry; share it at booking.
- South Mumbai buildings: many older buildings have no porch; the car stops briefly at the gate while you load, then waits in the nearest legal parking.
- Railway termini: at Mumbai Central, CSMT, Dadar and LTT, the car waits in station parking and the chauffeur meets you at the exit gate you name.
- Office towers in BKC and Lower Parel: add the building and gate number, as each tower has its own drop-off lane.
Booking, vehicle standards and cancellation
Enter pickup address, date and time in the online booker or send the plan on WhatsApp. We confirm Crysta or Hycross, share the car number and chauffeur's name the evening before, and take an advance by card or UPI, with the balance paid after the trip.
Every Innova we dispatch in the Mumbai region is a yellow-plate commercial vehicle within four model years, with permits for interstate travel to Goa, Gujarat and beyond; details of tourist permits are available through the transport ministry's services, and district information for the city is on the Mumbai City district portal.
If your plans change, cancel with more than three days to go and nothing is charged. Under our cancellation policy, a cancellation inside 72 hours costs 10% of the fare, inside 48 hours 50%, and inside 24 hours or a no-show the entire fare.
Book one to two weeks ahead for Ganeshotsav, Diwali, Christmas and New Year, and monsoon long weekends when the whole city heads to Lonavala. On ordinary weekdays, same-day bookings are often possible. During the first heavy rains of June, and on days the weather office issues a red alert for the city, we recommend leaving generous gaps between appointments; the car will get you there, but Mumbai's roads set their own pace in the monsoon.
