Pune to Mumbai taxi fare and what it covers
A Pune to Mumbai taxi with RutzIndia.com comes to Rs 5,400 Pay Now to Reserve in a Dzire-class sedan or Rs 8,550 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta on the roughly 150 km run, whether you are going to Mumbai airport (CSMIA), Navi Mumbai airport or a South Mumbai hotel. Fares are before 5% GST; Expressway, Atal Setu and other tolls are extra at actual.
Most cabs out of Pune towards Mumbai are not sightseeing trips. They are airport runs timed against a boarding gate, executives heading to a BKC meeting, or families checking into a Colaba hotel before a wedding or an evening at the Gateway. The thing that matters on this route is not the view of the Khandala ghat; it is arriving on time, at the right terminal or porch, without a surprise on the bill.
This page is written for that traveller: someone starting in Pune and ending in Mumbai or Navi Mumbai. If you are travelling the other way, the Mumbai to Pune taxi page covers pickups from Mumbai homes and airports into Pune.

One way and same-day return fares from Pune
| Car | Good for | Pune to Mumbai, one way | Pune-Mumbai-Pune same day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swift Dzire or Amaze | 1-3 flyers, two big suitcases | Rs 5,400 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 10,800 Pay Now to Reserve (300 km) |
| Honda City or Verna | executives, quieter cabin | Rs 7,200 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 14,400 Pay Now to Reserve (300 km) |
| Maruti Ertiga or Kia Carens | family of five, four bags | Rs 6,300 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 12,600 Pay Now to Reserve (300 km) |
| Innova Crysta or Hycross | six travellers or extra luggage | Rs 8,550 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 17,100 Pay Now to Reserve (300 km) |
| Toyota Fortuner | VIP guests, high seating | Rs 12,600 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 25,200 Pay Now to Reserve (300 km) |
| Mercedes E-Class or BMW 5 Series | wedding family, CXO travel | Rs 24,750 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 49,500 Pay Now to Reserve (300 km) |
| Force Tempo Traveller | team or wedding group up to 16 | Rs 11,700 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 23,400 Pay Now to Reserve (300 km) |
Keeping the car overnight in Mumbai? Two-day bookings are billed on at least 500 km, so a Dzire comes to Rs 18,000 Pay Now to Reserve and an Innova to Rs 28,500 Pay Now to Reserve before extras.
The one-way fare is calculated on about 150 km using the per-km rate of each class (twelve rupees a kilometre in a Dzire, nineteen in an Innova, fifty-five in an E-Class). Your exact pickup and drop points are entered on the booker and the quote updates with the real distance, so a Wakad to Navi Mumbai airport drop, which is shorter, will usually come in below a Hadapsar to Colaba run.
Charged separately at actual: 5% GST, the Mumbai–Pune Expressway toll, the Atal Setu toll if your chauffeur takes the sea bridge into South Mumbai, the Bandra–Worli Sea Link toll if used, and airport or hotel parking. A same-day return includes the car waiting while you work; kilometres above 300 are billed per km. If the car stays over in Mumbai, the chauffeur's overnight allowance (Rs 1,500 a night, by class) is added and the 250 km per day minimum kicks in.
Book a Pune to Mumbai airport drop
Pune to Mumbai by stage: kilometres, clock and toll plazas
| Stage | About km | Night-time drive | Daytime drive | Tolls |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Central Pune to the Expressway start at Kiwale / Dehu Road | about 25 | 30 min | 45-75 min | none |
| Expressway: Talegaon, Lonavala, Khandala ghat, Khopoli, Kalamboli | about 95 | 1 hr 20 min | 1 hr 40 min | Expressway plazas at Talegaon and Khalapur, FASTag |
| Kalamboli to Navi Mumbai airport, Ulwe | about 15 | 20 min | 30 min | none |
| Kalamboli to CSMIA via Sion–Panvel road and SCLR | about 35-40 | 45 min | 1 to 1.5 hrs | none |
| Kalamboli to Colaba or Nariman Point via Atal Setu | about 45 | 50 min | 1 to 1.25 hrs | Atal Setu toll |
The ghat between Lonavala and Khopoli is where most delays originate: slow trucks climbing towards Pune, fog in the monsoon, and occasional repair blocks announced by the road authority. Coming down towards Mumbai the gradient is in your favour, so the Pune to Mumbai direction is usually a little quicker than the reverse.

Train, Shivneri bus, self-drive or chauffeur for a Mumbai flight
| Option | Where it drops you | Getting to the airport after | Luggage | Good choice when |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Train (Deccan Queen, Pragati, Intercity and other expresses) | Dadar or CSMT | another cab across the city to T1, T2 or Navi Mumbai | carry it through two stations | you are going to South Mumbai with light bags |
| MSRTC Shivneri AC coach | Dadar, Thane or Borivali depending on service | another cab, or long walks with bags | hold, but you handle it twice | a solo budget trip to the western suburbs |
| Self-drive | wherever you park | airport long-term parking for the days you are away | your own boot | you return within a day or two |
| RutzIndia.com chauffeur cab | the departure kerb of your terminal or your hotel porch | none | loaded once at home | international flights, families, heavy bags, night departures |
Rail timetables are on the Indian Railways enquiry site. For a family of four flying out of T2 at night, the train-plus-cab combination means two vehicles and a platform in the evening rush; a single Innova at Rs 8,550 Pay Now to Reserve removes all of that.
Airport drops: CSMIA or Navi Mumbai?
Mumbai now has two airports, and choosing the right one changes your departure time from Pune.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) sits in Santacruz and Sahar, in the heart of the western suburbs. Terminal 2 at Sahar handles international flights and most full-service domestic flights; Terminal 1 at Santacruz handles several domestic carriers. From Pune the chauffeur leaves the Expressway at Kalamboli and crosses Navi Mumbai and Chembur via the Sion–Panvel road and the Santacruz–Chembur Link Road. The last 25 km can take as long as the first 100.
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) at Ulwe is on the Pune side of the harbour, a short hop from the Expressway's Mumbai end. For many Pune addresses, especially Pimpri-Chinchwad, Wakad and Hinjewadi, it is the shorter and more predictable drive. Check your ticket carefully: airlines show the airport code, and a mix-up costs hours. Both airports are operated by the Adani group, whose airports portal links to terminal and airline information.
How early to leave Pune: airlines generally ask you to reach the terminal two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international one. Add three to three and a half hours of driving at night or four to four and a half hours in daytime traffic, plus a half-hour buffer for the ghat or a toll queue. For a 2 am international departure from T2, that means leaving Pune around 6:30 to 7 pm. For a 7 am domestic flight from Navi Mumbai, a 1:30 am pickup from Baner is comfortable.
The chauffeur drops you at the departure kerb of the correct terminal and helps with trolleys. If you are flying out of Pune instead, see Pune airport and our local taxi service in Pune.

Hotel and office drops in South Mumbai, BKC and the suburbs
The approach into Mumbai depends on where you are headed.
- South Mumbai (Colaba, Nariman Point, Fort, Churchgate, Marine Drive, Cuffe Parade): the fastest way in from the Expressway is usually the Atal Setu, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, which crosses the harbour from near Chirle to Sewri. From Sewri the Eastern Freeway brings you down to P D'Mello Road and the Fort area. It turns a crawl through Chembur and Sion into a sea crossing of about 22 km. The bridge is an MMRDA project; details are on the MMRDA website.
- Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Kalina: via Vashi and the Sion–Panvel road, then the Santacruz–Chembur Link Road. Office towers have security checks at the porch; tell us the building so the chauffeur joins the right queue.
- Worli, Lower Parel and Prabhadevi: Atal Setu and the Eastern Freeway, or the coastal road links when traffic favours them.
- Andheri, Juhu, Powai and Goregaon: the Eastern or Western Express Highway, depending on time of day.
- Thane and Navi Mumbai: Thane-Belapur Road, Vashi, Kharghar, Belapur and Airoli are all on the near side of the city and shorter than the fare table distance.
Luxury hotels along the Colaba waterfront and Nariman Point have porte-cocheres where cars can pause briefly for luggage; the chauffeur follows hotel security procedure. Travelling to a wedding at a South Mumbai hotel, a Mercedes E-Class or a Fortuner can be booked for the family; see luxury car rental in Mumbai.
When to leave Pune, and when to head back
The Expressway runs about 95 km from Kiwale to Kalamboli, climbing through the Bhor ghat between Lonavala and Khopoli. Knowing its rhythms saves you hours.
Best departure windows from Pune: before 6:30 am, or between 11 am and 3 pm on weekdays. Early morning avoids trucks queuing on the ghat and the rush into Navi Mumbai; mid-day avoids both cities' office peaks. Worst: Friday afternoon and Saturday morning heading out of Pune when weekenders pour towards Lonavala, and weekday 8 to 11 am arrivals into Mumbai.
Coming back the same day: if you have booked a day return for a meeting or a hospital appointment, aim to leave Mumbai before 4 pm or after 8:30 pm. Between those hours the Sion–Panvel stretch and the Vashi bridge are slow, and by the time you reach the ghat, heavy vehicles are crawling uphill. Sunday evenings are the heaviest inbound hours into Pune, when Lonavala and Khandala holidaymakers head home; if you can, return on Sunday morning or Monday after 10 am.
Monsoon (June to September): the Khandala ghat is often in cloud, and heavy rain brings occasional landslide warnings. Chauffeurs drive slower with fog lights on, which adds half an hour. Long weekends and festivals: Ganeshotsav in August or September, Diwali and New Year see heavy traffic and toll queues; add an hour.
Pickup anywhere in Pune
The fare applies from any address in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Regular pickups include Hinjewadi Phases 1 to 3, Wakad, Baner, Balewadi, Aundh, Kothrud, Shivajinagar, Deccan, Camp and MG Road, Koregaon Park, Kalyani Nagar, Viman Nagar, Kharadi, Magarpatta, Hadapsar, Wanowrie, Pimple Saudagar, Chinchwad and Nigdi. Pune railway station and Pune airport at Lohegaon are pickup points too; if you land at Pune and need to connect to an international flight from Mumbai, we track your arrival and wait 30 minutes free after a domestic landing, then continue straight to CSMIA or Navi Mumbai. After an international arrival the free wait is 60 minutes; beyond either limit, waiting is billed at the hourly rate.
Pune pickup variants for Mumbai-bound trips

|---|---|---|
| Hinjewadi, Wakad, Baner, Pimpri-Chinchwad | the quickest starts; close to the Expressway | Navi Mumbai airport especially close |
| Aundh, Shivajinagar, Deccan, Kothrud | add 20-30 minutes in daytime | inner-city crossing to Chandni Chowk or the bypass |
| Koregaon Park, Kalyani Nagar, Viman Nagar, Kharadi | add 30-45 minutes in daytime | east-side addresses cross the whole city |
| Hadapsar, Magarpatta, Wanowrie | add 30-45 minutes | via the bypass; avoid the 6-9 pm peak |
| Pune airport (connecting from a domestic flight) | we track your arrival; 30 minutes free waiting | continue straight to CSMIA or Navi Mumbai |
| Pune railway station | meet at the main exit | good for travellers arriving from Solapur, Kolhapur or Bengaluru by train |
After the drop: Mumbai sightseeing and add-ons
If you land in Mumbai with a free afternoon, or have time before a late flight, keep the car on a local package instead of taking a one-way drop. Mumbai local packages carry a small city multiplier: a sedan for 4 hours and 40 km is Rs 4,750 Pay Now to Reserve and for 8 hours and 80 km Rs 7,920 Pay Now to Reserve; an Innova is Rs 8,320 Pay Now to Reserve and Rs 13,860 Pay Now to Reserve respectively. For regular use, see car rental with driver in Mumbai.
| Add-on | Where | Time to allow | How it is billed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lonavala stop for chikki and a viewpoint | on the Expressway exit | 30-45 min | included on the drop; parking at actual |
| Karla and Bhaja caves | off the old highway near Lonavala | 2-3 hrs | extra km at the class rate |
| Gateway of India, Colaba Causeway, Kala Ghoda | South Mumbai | half a day | Mumbai local package |
| Marine Drive and Girgaon Chowpatty at sunset | South Mumbai | 1-2 hrs | Mumbai local package |
| Siddhivinayak temple, Prabhadevi | central Mumbai | 1-2 hrs, longer on Tuesdays | Mumbai local package |
| Haji Ali Dargah and Bandra Bandstand | western seafront | 2-3 hrs | Mumbai local package |
Business travel and group moves
Companies in Hinjewadi and Kharadi move staff to Mumbai client sites every day. We invoice with GST in the company name and can run monthly accounts through our corporate car rental desk. A car rental with driver in Pune booked for the full day can take you to Mumbai and back with the car on standby while you are in meetings.
For a team offsite or a wedding party travelling from Pune to a Mumbai hotel, a Pune tempo traveller carries up to 16 with luggage, and we can pair it with sedans for elders. No car we send is older than four model years; all carry FASTag, which keeps toll-plaza stops short.
Booking, payment and cancellation
Enter your Pune pickup, Mumbai drop, flight number if relevant, and car class in the RutzIndia.com booker. An advance by UPI or card secures the car; the rest is settled at the end of the ride against the trip sheet, including tolls with receipts. The chauffeur's name and number are shared the evening before, and for night pickups he calls fifteen minutes ahead.
Our cancellation rule is the same across India: nothing to pay if you cancel more than 72 hours ahead, one tenth of the fare inside 72 hours, half inside 48 hours, and all of it inside 24 hours or if nobody turns up. Rescheduled flights are common on this route, so change the booking as soon as the airline informs you. Full terms: cancellation policy. Staying on in Mumbai for local hire?
