Bangalore to Mysore taxi fare, simply explained
With RutzIndia.com, a Bangalore to Mysore taxi costs Rs 5,220 Pay Now to Reserve one way in a compact sedan and Rs 8,270 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta for about 145 km on the expressway. A same-day return is billed on 290 km, Rs 10,440 Pay Now to Reserve by sedan. GST at 5% is added, and expressway tolls and parking are charged at actual.
Since the access-controlled Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway opened, the old stop-start crawl through Bidadi, Ramanagara, Channapatna, Maddur and Mandya has become a fast, fenced highway that bypasses every town. For most travellers that means Mysore is now an easy day trip from Bengaluru and a painless first leg of a Coorg, Kabini or Ooty holiday. The hard part is getting out of Bengaluru, and that is where a chauffeur who knows the exits earns his keep.
We serve everyone on this corridor: families on a palace-and-zoo day, couples heading to Mysore for a heritage-hotel weekend, techies taking parents to Chamundi Hills, conference delegates, wedding parties, and visitors who land at Kempegowda airport and want to go straight to Mysore without a night in the city.

| Tempo Traveller, up to 16 | Rs 78 | Rs 11,310 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 22,620 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 17,940 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Mercedes E-Class | Rs 170 | Rs 23,930 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 47,850 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 34,500 Pay Now to Reserve |
The local column is our 8-hour, 80 km package for sightseeing inside Mysore, which is priced slightly lower than in Bengaluru. Use it if you arrive one way and want a car for the palace, Chamundi Hills, the zoo and Srirangapatna the next day; the Mysore taxi service page has the details.
Extras, all at actual and receipted: 5% GST, the expressway toll plazas, parking at the palace, Brindavan Gardens or Chamundi Hills, and on overnight trips a night allowance for the chauffeur of Rs 1,500. Round trips spanning more than one day are billed on the higher of the kilometres you drive and 250 km for each calendar day, so a two-day Mysore weekend in a sedan starts at Rs 18,000 Pay Now to Reserve and in an Innova at Rs 28,500 Pay Now to Reserve.
A sample day: a family of five leaving Koramangala at 6:30 am in an Ertiga, visiting Srirangapatna, the palace, Chamundi Hills and the Brindavan Gardens fountain before driving home, will cover around 330 km. The fare is 330 x Rs 42 = Rs 13,860 Pay Now to Reserve before GST, tolls and parking.

The expressway, the exits and the tolls
The Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway (part of NH 275) begins on the south-western edge of the city beyond Kengeri and runs almost straight to the outskirts of Mysore. The main carriageway is access-controlled, with service roads alongside for local traffic; two-wheelers, autorickshaws and slow vehicles are not allowed on it. Tolls are collected at plazas at either end of the route and are paid by FASTag.
Getting to the start is the variable part. From the southern and western suburbs the run to Kengeri is quick; from Whitefield, Marathahalli or the airport side of the city it can take an hour in traffic. Chauffeurs often use the NICE Road from Electronic City or Hosur Road to reach Mysore Road, avoiding the city centre. Leave by 6:30 am and you are usually in Mysore by 9:30; leave at 9 on a weekday and plan for three and a half hours.
Because the expressway bypasses the towns, stops need an exit and a short run along the service road. Tell the chauffeur at the start which ones you want so he takes the right exit rather than doubling back.

Distance, time and toll plazas on the expressway
| Stage | About km | Time on an early start | Tolls and notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Central Bengaluru to Kengeri and the expressway start | about 20 | 40-60 min | the unpredictable part; NICE Road helps from the south |
| Expressway past Bidadi and Ramanagara | about 35 | 25 min | Kaniminike toll plaza at the Bengaluru end |
| Channapatna, Maddur and Mandya bypasses | about 55 | 35 min | exits to the service road for stops |
| Mandya to Srirangapatna | about 20 | 15 min | Ganangur toll plaza near Srirangapatna |
| Srirangapatna to Mysore city | about 15-20 | 25 min | ring road or the old road into the palace area |
| Whole route | about 145 | 2.5 to 3 hrs | tolls billed at actual from FASTag receipts |
Train, KSRTC bus, self-drive or chauffeur
| Option | Where it drops you | Door-to-door time | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Train (Shatabdi, Vande Bharat and express services) | Mysuru Junction, close to the city centre | 2.5 to 3.5 hrs including station transfers | solo travellers and couples with light bags |
| KSRTC bus, including AC coaches | Mysuru's city and suburban bus stands | 3.5 to 4 hrs | frequent, budget-friendly departures |
| KSRTC airport bus to Mysuru | Mysuru bus stand | long, with stops | solo flyers with a single bag |
| Self-drive | wherever you park; palace and Chamundi parking fill on weekends | 2.5 to 3 hrs plus parking | confident drivers |
| RutzIndia.com chauffeur cab | your hotel, the palace gate or Chamundi Hills | 2.5 to 3 hrs | families, airport arrivals, day trips with several stops |
Karnataka's state transport corporation lists routes and bookings on the KSRTC website. The train is excellent value for two people heading to a central hotel. A cab makes more sense for three or more, for elders, and for the classic day trip with Srirangapatna, the palace and Chamundi Hills, which public transport cannot link easily.

Worth stopping for between Bengaluru and Mysore
- Ramanagara: the granite hills where a famous Bollywood film was shot, and a vulture sanctuary on the rocks.
- Channapatna: the town of lacquered wooden toys, with small workshops and showrooms along the old highway.
- Maddur: home of the crisp Maddur vade, sold at tiffin rooms near the old road.
- Srirangapatna: Tipu Sultan's island capital, with the Daria Daulat Bagh summer palace, the Ranganathaswamy temple and the Gumbaz. It is about 15 km before Mysore and easily a two-hour stop.
- Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary: river islets on the Kaveri, best in the nesting months, with boat rides among painted storks and pelicans.
- KRS Dam and Brindavan Gardens: terraced gardens below the Krishnaraja Sagar dam, famous for the musical fountain in the evening. It is north-west of Mysore, so fit it at the end of the day.
Karnataka's official tourism guide to these places is at Karnataka Tourism.
Mysore drop points and parking
Most visitors stay near the palace or on the leafy roads of Nazarbad, Jayalakshmipuram and the Lalitha Mahal side. Common drop points include Mysore Palace (north gate parking), Mysore railway station, the Suburban and city bus stands, Chamundi Hills temple parking, the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, Infosys Mysore campus at Hebbal industrial area, and the heritage hotels towards Lalitha Mahal.
Mysore Palace is illuminated with nearly a hundred thousand bulbs on Sunday and public-holiday evenings, and nightly throughout Dasara. If you want to see it, plan an evening departure back to Bengaluru; the expressway makes a late return perfectly comfortable.

Dasara and the Mysore seasons
Mysuru Dasara (September or October): ten days of celebration ending on Vijayadashami with the Jamboo Savari elephant procession. Hotels, roads and parking fill up; police set traffic diversions around the palace and the procession route. Book your cab two to three weeks ahead and expect to walk the final stretch on the main days. The official schedule is posted on the Mysuru Dasara website.
October to February: the pleasant season, with cool mornings and clear skies; weekends and the Christmas break are busy. March to May: warm afternoons; start early and keep the palace for the morning. June to September: the south-west monsoon brings rain to Mysore and heavier rain to Coorg and Wayanad; the expressway drains well but visibility drops in downpours.
Long weekends see heavy outbound traffic from Bengaluru on Friday evening and a slow return on Sunday; the toll plazas near the city can queue. Travelling on Saturday morning and coming back on Monday is often much faster.
Airport pickups and city pickups in Bengaluru
We collect anywhere in Bengaluru at the per-km fare: Whitefield, ITPL, Marathahalli, Sarjapur Road, HSR Layout, Koramangala, Indiranagar, MG Road and the central hotels, Jayanagar, JP Nagar, Banashankari, Rajajinagar, Malleshwaram, Hebbal, Yelahanka and Electronic City.
From Kempegowda International Airport at Devanahalli, north of the city, the drive to Mysore is roughly 35 km longer than from the centre, and the quote on the booker reflects that. We track your flight, meet you at arrivals with a name board and allow 60 minutes of free waiting after an international flight and 30 minutes after a domestic one; longer waits are billed hourly. Terminal information is on the Bengaluru airport website. For transfers within the city, see Bangalore airport taxi.
Which car makes sense for this trip
On a smooth expressway the difference between classes is mostly about space, not comfort. A Dzire or Aura carries three adults and two medium suitcases and is the cheapest way to Mysore by a wide margin. Families with grandparents usually prefer an Ertiga or Innova Crysta, because the higher seats are easier on knees at the many stops on a sightseeing day, and the boot takes a folded pram plus shopping from the Devaraja market and the silk showrooms.
Business travellers going to the Hebbal industrial area or a training programme at one of the Mysore campuses often book a City or Verna for a quieter cabin and a better seat for laptop work. For a wedding at a palace hotel, or senior guests being received on arrival, a Mercedes E-Class sets a different tone; see luxury car rental in Bangalore for the wider fleet. School trips, office outings and temple groups of a dozen or more are best in a Tempo Traveller, which at Rs 11,310 Pay Now to Reserve one way costs less per head than four sedans.
Going further: Coorg, Kabini, Ooty and Wayanad
Mysore is the hinge for Karnataka's hill and forest country. From here, Coorg's Madikeri is about 120 km west, Kabini's river lodges around 80 km south-west, and Ooty roughly 125 km south through Bandipur and Mudumalai. Note that the forest roads through Bandipur are closed to night traffic, roughly 9 pm to 6 am, to protect wildlife, so plan Ooty and Wayanad drives in daylight.
Book a direct Bangalore to Coorg taxi or Bangalore to Ooty taxi for those trips, or build a multi-day loop with the same car and chauffeur. Groups of 10 or more can travel together in a Bangalore tempo traveller or, for larger delegations, a mini bus on rent, and weddings at Mysore's heritage venues can add a decorated luxury car through wedding car rental in Bangalore.
Booking, payment and cancellation
Choose your pickup, Mysore drop point, date, time and car on the booker. Pay a part advance by UPI or card and settle the rest at the end; GST invoices are available for company travel. Every car in the programme is within four model years and air-conditioned, and for local days in Bengaluru before or after the trip, see taxi service in Bangalore or a full-day car rental with driver in Bangalore. The longer Bangalore to Chennai taxi corridor is priced the same way.
Cancellation is free until 72 hours before pickup. Inside 72 hours we keep 10% of the fare, inside 48 hours 50%, and inside 24 hours or on a no-show the whole amount. The details are on the cancellation policy page; for every other intercity fare, open the routes hub.
