A Bangalore to Coorg taxi is the easiest way to swap the Outer Ring Road for coffee estates, mist and pepper vines without handing the wheel to someone who does not know the Kodagu hills. RutzIndia.com runs this drive as a fixed-fare one-way drop or a round trip with the same chauffeur staying with you in Madikeri, Kushalnagar, Virajpet or wherever your homestay sits at the end of a gravel estate track. You see the full price before you pay, the car is within four model years, and the driver has done the Hunsur and Periyapatna stretch in rain as well as sunshine.
How much is a Bangalore to Coorg taxi in 2026?
Fares updated September 2026.
A Bangalore to Coorg one way taxi costs Rs 9,540 Pay Now to Reserve in a Dzire-class sedan (265 km at Rs 36/km) and Rs 15,110 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta. A two-day round trip is billed on 530 km: Rs 19,080 Pay Now to Reserve sedan, Rs 30,210 Pay Now to Reserve Innova. Fares are before 5% GST; tolls and parking are at actual.
Every outstation fare on RutzIndia.com is simple arithmetic: kilometres multiplied by the per-km rate of the car you choose. For round trips we bill the greater of the actual return distance or 250 km for each calendar day the car is with you, which is why a weekend in Coorg with local sightseeing usually settles close to the two-day figure, while a longer stay moves you onto the per-day minimum. The table below uses the standard Bangalore to Madikeri distance of about 265 km.
| Car (seats) | Rate | One way, 265 km | Round trip, 2 days (530 km) | Round trip, 3 days (750 km) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dzire / Amaze sedan (4) | Rs 36/km | Rs 9,540 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 19,080 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 27,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Ertiga / Carens MUV (6) | Rs 42/km | Rs 11,130 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 22,260 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 31,500 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Innova Crysta / Hycross (6) | Rs 57.6/km | Rs 15,110 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 30,210 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 42,750 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Fortuner / Gloster SUV (6) | Rs 84/km | Rs 22,260 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 44,520 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 63,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Tempo Traveller (12-16) | Rs 78/km | Rs 20,670 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 41,340 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 58,500 Pay Now to Reserve |
What sits outside those numbers is listed plainly so there is no argument at the end of the trip. Tolls on the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway and any other plaza on the day are charged at actual cost. State permits do not apply because both ends are in Karnataka, but parking at Abbey Falls, Raja's Seat and the Golden Temple at Bylakuppe is paid as you go. On a round trip the chauffeur's night allowance is Rs 1,500 per night depending on the car class, and most Coorg homestays have driver rooms or can point you to one nearby. All prices are before 5% GST, and corporate travellers get a GST invoice with the company name and GSTIN from the booking itself. You can see how the same maths works on other drives on our fares page.

Distance, drive time and tolls, segment by segment
Knowing how the 265 km breaks down helps you plan breakfast, fuel and phone calls. The figures below are typical for a weekday morning start from central Bangalore; plaza names and toll rates change from time to time, so treat the last column as a guide and expect the chauffeur to hand you every receipt.
| Segment | About km | Typical time | Tolls and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Central Bangalore to Srirangapatna (expressway) | 125 | 1 hr 45 min to 2 hrs | Kaniminike and Shesagirihalli plazas on the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway |
| Srirangapatna / Mysuru ring road to Hunsur | 45 | about 1 hr | no expressway plaza on this stretch |
| Hunsur to Kushalnagar via Periyapatna | 55 | about 1 hr | state highway, speed breakers near villages |
| Kushalnagar to Madikeri | 30 | 45 min | gentle ghat, slow in monsoon mist |
| Total to Madikeri | about 265 | 5 to 6 hrs | tolls charged at actual |
The car carries a FASTag, so plazas cost you no queue time; the amount simply appears on the trip statement.
Route: the Mysuru expressway, Hunsur and the Kushalnagar gate
The usual line from Bangalore to Coorg runs south-west on the Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled expressway, the six-lane stretch that took a big chunk of time out of the old Mandya and Maddur crawl. Your chauffeur leaves it around Srirangapatna or the Mysuru ring road, then heads west on the Hunsur road through Periyapatna and into Kodagu at Kushalnagar. From Kushalnagar it is roughly 30 km of gentle climbing to Madikeri, the district town that most people mean when they say "Coorg".
There are two useful variations. If your stay is in south Coorg, near Virajpet, Gonikoppal, Siddapur or the Nagarhole side, the driver may branch off at Hunsur and go through Gonikoppal, which avoids doubling back through Madikeri. If you want to break the day in Mysuru for the palace or breakfast at a heritage hotel, the route bends through the city before turning west; that adds a little distance, which we quote upfront. Our Bangalore to Mysore taxi page explains that first leg in more detail if you only need the city.
Driving time is typically five to six hours door to door. Allow more if you leave Whitefield or Electronic City after 8 am on a weekday, because the city exit is the slowest part of the journey. The quietest window is a 5:30 or 6 am start, which gets you through Kengeri before the office traffic and into Kushalnagar for a late breakfast.
Hill driving on the Kodagu roads
Coorg is not a high-altitude ghat like the Nilgiris; Madikeri sits a little above 1,100 metres and the climb from Kushalnagar is steady rather than dramatic. The challenge is the last few kilometres. Many estates and homestays are reached on narrow, single-lane plantation roads, some of them concrete strips and some plain gravel, with sharp bends through coffee and cardamom. In the June to September monsoon those tracks turn slippery and the district sees very heavy rain, occasional tree falls and, in some years, landslips near Madikeri and on the road towards Bhagamandala. Our chauffeurs slow down, use low gears, keep headlamps on in the mist and will not attempt a flooded causeway just to keep the schedule.
If your homestay warns that its approach road is steep and unpaved, pick an Innova Crysta or a Fortuner rather than a sedan; the extra ground clearance matters more than the badge. We ask for your homestay name at booking so the driver can check the last stretch in advance.

Stops worth making on the way to Coorg
A good Bangalore to Coorg road trip is not a straight dash. These are the stops our chauffeurs are asked for most often, and all of them sit on or near the standard route.
- Srirangapatna - the island town with Tipu Sultan's summer palace and the Ranganathaswamy temple, a short detour off the expressway.
- Mysuru - breakfast, the palace, or a quick visit to Chamundi Hill if you have started very early.
- Bylakuppe - the Tibetan settlement just before Kushalnagar, home of the Namdroling Monastery and its Golden Temple; free to visit, with paid parking.
- Nisargadhama - a bamboo-shaded island park on the Kaveri near Kushalnagar, good for stretching legs with children.
- Dubare - the elephant camp across the river, best in the morning when the elephants are bathed.
- Harangi dam - worth a look after the monsoon when the gates are open.
Waiting at these points is simply part of the kilometre fare on a round trip. On a one-way drop, two or three short stops are fine; a long halt of several hours is better booked as a round trip or with an hourly add-on, which the travel desk can quote.
Coorg sightseeing with your chauffeur
Once you are in Kodagu, a round trip keeps the car and driver at your disposal. A sensible two-day plan looks like this:
- Day one: leave Bangalore early, stop at Bylakuppe and Dubare, check in, then catch the sunset at Raja's Seat in Madikeri.
- Day two: morning at Abbey Falls and Madikeri Fort, then a drive to Bhagamandala and Talakaveri, the source of the Kaveri, before heading back to Bangalore in the afternoon.
A third day opens up south Coorg: Iruppu Falls near the Brahmagiri range, a coffee estate walk around Siddapur or Pollibetta, and a drive past the Nagarhole forest edge. Note that the road to Mandalpatti viewpoint is usually covered by local open jeeps from the base rather than by city cars, and your chauffeur can drop you at the jeep point. The Karnataka government's official tourism site and the Kodagu district portal carry current notices on falls, forest timings and monsoon closures, which are worth checking the week you travel.
Coorg is busiest on long weekends, over Christmas and New Year, and in the post-monsoon green season of October and November. For those dates we suggest booking at least a week ahead so the Innova Crysta and Tempo Traveller slots do not run out.

Train, bus, self-drive or a chauffeur-driven taxi?
Kodagu has no railway line, which shapes every choice below. Here is an honest side-by-side so you can decide what fits your group.
| Option | How it works | Door to door | Best for | Watch-outs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Train + taxi | Train to Mysuru Junction (see Indian Railways enquiry), then about 120 km by road | usually longer than driving | rail lovers, solo travellers | two changes of mode, luggage handling at Mysuru |
| State or private bus | KSRTC and private coaches run to Madikeri | similar to a car, plus waits | budget solo trips | bus stand drop, then a local taxi to your homestay |
| Self-drive rental | you collect a car, pay fuel, tolls and a deposit | 5 to 6 hrs of your own driving | confident hill drivers | estate tracks and monsoon rain, no one to share the wheel |
| RutzIndia.com chauffeur taxi | car and driver from your door to the homestay gate | 5 to 6 hrs, stops as you like | families, groups, first-timers | book early for long weekends |
For a family of four, one Innova Crysta at Rs 15,110 Pay Now to Reserve one way often comes close to what four bus seats and a local taxi at the other end would cost, without the bus-stand scramble.
Pickup options and what they change
| Where you start | What the chauffeur does | How it is priced |
|---|---|---|
| Kempegowda airport, T1 or T2 | tracks the flight, name board at arrivals, 60 min free (international) or 30 min (domestic) | actual km from the terminal; the airport sits north of the city, so it is a little longer than a central start |
| KSR Bengaluru City, Yeshwanthpur or SMVT Baiyappanahalli stations | meets you at the main exit with a name board | standard route fare |
| MG Road, UB City, Whitefield or Electronic City hotels | lobby pickup at your chosen time | standard route fare |
| Mysuru city or station (if you arrived by train) | pickup anywhere in Mysuru | about 120 km to Madikeri, so roughly Rs 4,320 Pay Now to Reserve by sedan; see taxi service in Mysore |
Pickup points in Bangalore and drop points in Coorg
We collect from any address in the city: Whitefield and ITPL, Koramangala, Indiranagar, HSR Layout, Electronic City, Hebbal, Yelahanka, Jayanagar, Malleshwaram, Rajajinagar and the hotel belt around MG Road. We also meet flights at Kempegowda International Airport; if you are flying into Bangalore to go straight to Coorg, the chauffeur tracks the flight, stands with a name board, and gives you 60 minutes of free waiting after an international arrival or 30 minutes after a domestic one. Beyond that, waiting is billed at the hourly rate of the car. Our Bangalore airport taxi page covers the terminal routine, and it is worth remembering that leaving from the airport avoids most of the city traffic, since the driver can take the peripheral roads south-west.
At the Coorg end, drops are made to Madikeri town, Kushalnagar, Virajpet, Gonikoppal, Siddapur, Somwarpet, Bhagamandala, Suntikoppa and the estates in between, including the well-known resorts off the Siddapur road and around Madikeri. If you are continuing beyond Coorg towards Kerala, Mangaluru or Wayanad, tell us when you book and we will quote the full itinerary as one trip.
Sightseeing add-ons once you are in Coorg
On a round trip, local driving in Kodagu simply adds to the kilometre total, and it only raises the bill once you pass the per-day minimum. The distances below are approximate return trips from Madikeri, costed at the standard per-km rates.
| Add-on from Madikeri | About km (return) | Sedan at Rs 36/km (min Rs 3,960 Pay Now to Reserve) | Innova at Rs 57.6/km (min Rs 6,930 Pay Now to Reserve) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Abbey Falls and Raja's Seat | 16 | Rs 3,960 Pay Now to Reserve, minimum fare applies | Rs 6,930 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Dubare elephant camp and Nisargadhama | 60 | Rs 3,960 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 6,930 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Bylakuppe Golden Temple | 70 | Rs 3,960 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 6,930 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Bhagamandala and Talakaveri | 90 | Rs 3,960 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 6,930 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Iruppu Falls, south Coorg | 160 | Rs 5,760 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 9,120 Pay Now to Reserve |
Ask the travel desk to string these into a day plan; they will order them so you are not doubling back over the same hill roads. Every car class we send is described on the fleet page.
Choosing the right car for a Coorg trip
- Dzire-class sedan for two to three people with regular luggage, sticking to tarred roads. The best value for a one-way drop.
- Ertiga or Kia Carens for a family of five or six on a budget; fine on good roads, more modest in the monsoon.
- Innova Crysta for comfort over five or six hours, extra boot space and confidence on estate approaches. This is the car most families choose for Coorg.
- Fortuner for the steepest homestay roads or simply a more commanding ride.
- Tempo Traveller for groups of 10 to 16, such as a family reunion, an office offsite or friends heading to a plantation stay; see Tempo Traveller hire in Bangalore for seat layouts.
Every car we dispatch is within four model years, air-conditioned, and cleaned before the trip. Chauffeurs carry the vehicle permit and papers, and they know the difference between a coffee estate turn and a missed junction.
How booking works
- Enter pickup, drop and date in the online booker or ask the travel desk to plan it for you.
- Pick one way or round trip; for a round trip, add the number of days so the minimum-kilometre rule is applied correctly.
- Pay by card or UPI through the booker. You receive a confirmation with the car class and, on the evening before, the chauffeur's details.
- On the day, the chauffeur arrives about 15 minutes early. Tolls and parking are noted and settled at the end with receipts.
Plans change, so our cancellation policy is straightforward: free cancellation more than 72 hours before pickup, 10% within 72 hours, 50% within 48 hours, and 100% within 24 hours or for a no-show. Weather-related route changes in the monsoon are discussed with you, not imposed.
If Coorg is one stop on a bigger southern loop, look at our Bangalore to Ooty taxi route, the wider set of outstation cabs from the city, or our taxi service in Bangalore for airport and local hire before and after the hills. Every published route is listed on the routes hub.
