Delhi to Haridwar taxi fare at a glance
A Delhi to Haridwar taxi with RutzIndia.com costs Rs 7,920 Pay Now to Reserve one way in a compact sedan and Rs 12,540 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta for the roughly 220 km run. A same-day return is billed on 440 km, so Rs 15,840 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan. Fares exclude 5% GST, tolls and the Uttarakhand entry fee, which are charged at actual.
Most people searching for a Delhi to Haridwar taxi want one of three things: a dawn departure to catch the morning snan at Har Ki Pauri, a one-way drop to an ashram or a wedding venue in Kankhal, or a two-day family trip that folds in the evening Ganga Aarti and a visit to Mansa Devi. We price all three openly. You pick the car, the pickup address and the time; the fare you see on the booking page is calculated from the distance below, not from a surge algorithm.
The route runs out of Delhi through Ghaziabad onto the Delhi–Meerut Expressway, skirts Meerut, then follows the national highway through Khatauli, Muzaffarnagar and Roorkee before crossing into Uttarakhand at Narsan and rolling into Haridwar along the Ganga canal. Traffic permitting, the drive takes about four and a half hours door to door from central Delhi.

Fare table: one way, same-day return and weekend packages
Per-km rates below come straight from our national fare card. One way is billed on the route distance of about 220 km. A same-day round trip is billed on the actual return distance (440 km). Multi-day round trips are billed on whichever is higher: the kilometres you actually drive, or 250 km for every calendar day the car is with you.
| Vehicle | Seats | One way (220 km) | Same-day return (440 km) | 2-day trip (min 500 km) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Compact sedan (Dzire, Amaze) | 4 | Rs 7,920 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 15,840 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 18,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| MUV (Ertiga, Carens) | 6 | Rs 9,240 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 18,480 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 21,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Premium sedan (City, Verna) | 4 | Rs 10,560 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 21,120 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 24,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Innova Crysta / Hycross | 6 | Rs 12,540 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 25,080 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 28,500 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Premium SUV (Fortuner) | 6 | Rs 18,480 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 36,960 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 42,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Tempo Traveller 12-17 seat | 16 | Rs 17,160 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 34,320 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 39,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Force Urbania | 17 | Rs 22,440 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 44,880 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 51,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
What is not in those numbers: 5% GST, highway tolls, the state entry fee Uttarakhand collects from outside-registered commercial vehicles, and parking at Haridwar lots. All four are passed through at the exact amount on the receipt, with no mark-up. On overnight trips, add a driver night allowance of Rs 1,500 per night depending on the vehicle class; the chauffeur arranges his own stay and meals from that.
A worked example helps. A family of five leaving Noida on a Saturday morning in an Innova Crysta, staying one night near Bhimgoda and returning Sunday evening, would drive perhaps 470 km in total. Because the two-day minimum is 500 km, the base fare is Rs 28,500 Pay Now to Reserve, plus one night allowance, tolls and parking. Had they driven 560 km with detours to Rishikesh and Neelkanth, the base would be 560 x Rs 57.6 = Rs 31,920 Pay Now to Reserve instead.
Get your Delhi to Haridwar cab fare
The road: expressway, highway and where the time goes
The first hour decides the whole trip. Leaving South Delhi at 5 am you will be on the Delhi–Meerut Expressway in thirty-five minutes; leave at 8 am on a weekday and the same stretch past Akshardham and Ghaziabad can take ninety. Chauffeurs on this corridor prefer departures between 4:30 and 6 am, which also puts you at Har Ki Pauri before the midday heat in summer.
Beyond Meerut the road is a four-lane national highway with service lanes through the towns. Khatauli and the Muzaffarnagar bypass are where most families take a breakfast break; large highway restaurants on this belt open early and have clean washrooms, which matters with elderly parents on board. Roorkee, home to the IIT campus and the historic Ganga canal headworks, comes about three and a half hours in, and from there it is roughly thirty kilometres to the Haridwar city limits.
Tolls: expect two to three plazas between Delhi and Haridwar, collected by FASTag on the vehicle. The receipts go into your trip invoice. Road and toll information for national highways is published by the National Highways Authority of India, and route conditions can change with ongoing works, so your chauffeur may pick the faster alignment on the day.
Newer corridors are being built between Delhi and the Doon valley. Where open sections genuinely save time for your pickup point, the driver will use them; where they do not, he stays on the proven highway. You pay by kilometres driven on one-way trips at the quoted distance, so a smarter route never costs you more.

Delhi to Haridwar distance, time and tolls, stage by stage
Door to door the Delhi to Haridwar taxi covers about 220 km, but the drive is really five stages with very different characters. Knowing them helps you choose a departure time and a breakfast stop.
| Stage | About km | Time on an early start | Tolls and checks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Central Delhi to the Delhi–Meerut Expressway (Nizamuddin, Akshardham side) | 10-15 | 20-30 min | none |
| Delhi–Meerut Expressway to the Meerut end | about 70 | 50-60 min | expressway toll plaza, FASTag |
| Meerut bypass to Khatauli and Muzaffarnagar | about 55 | 50-60 min | national highway toll plaza, FASTag |
| Muzaffarnagar to Roorkee via Purkaji | about 50 | 45-55 min | toll plaza; Uttarakhand border near Narsan, entry fee for outside commercial vehicles |
| Roorkee to Haridwar, Har Ki Pauri parking | about 30 | 40-50 min | city traffic; police controls on festival days |
| Whole route | about 220 | about 4.5 hrs | two to three plazas plus state entry fee, all at actual |
The expressway stretch is the fastest part of the day and the one most affected by what time you leave. The Meerut to Muzaffarnagar section has service lanes and the busiest breakfast belt. Between Purkaji and Roorkee the highway runs through sugar-cane country, and from October to March you will share it with tractor-trolleys carrying cane to the mills, which is why chauffeurs keep a steady, patient pace there. Roorkee to Haridwar is short but slows near Bahadrabad and the city entry, particularly after 10 am.
Toll amounts change with each annual revision, so we never print a fixed figure; the FASTag receipts are attached to your trip sheet and the exact sum appears on the invoice.
Timing your trip around the Ganga calendar
Haridwar is not a town where every day is the same. Plan with these peaks in mind:
- Kanwar Yatra (Shravan, usually July to early August): lakhs of kanwariyas walk and ride the Delhi–Haridwar highway for about two weeks. Authorities divert or close lanes, heavy vehicles are stopped, and car traffic is often pushed onto alternative roads. Travel during this window is possible but slower; we advise very early departures and flexible return times.
- Bathing festivals: Makar Sankranti in January, Maha Shivratri in February or March, Baisakhi in April, Ganga Dussehra around May or June, Somvati Amavasya and Kartik Purnima. On these days police close the inner roads near Har Ki Pauri and your car will stop at a designated parking area; the last stretch is on foot or by e-rickshaw.
- Kumbh and Ardh Kumbh years: vehicle management plans run for weeks. Book well ahead and expect drop points on the city edge.
- Char Dham season (May to October): Haridwar and Rishikesh fill with yatris heading into the hills, and hotels on the Delhi road are busier on weekends.
- Monsoon (July to September): the plains stretch stays open, but heavy showers slow Roorkee and the canal roads. Hill trips beyond Haridwar need a buffer day.
The evening Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri begins around sunset, so the time shifts across the year from roughly 5:30 pm in winter to past 7 pm in June. If the aarti is the reason for your trip, tell us when you book and we will plan the departure backwards from sunset, allowing for parking and the walk to the ghats.

Train, bus, self-drive or a chauffeur: which suits you
A private cab is not the only way to reach Haridwar, and for a solo traveller with a backpack it is not always the cheapest. Here is an honest comparison so you can decide.
| Train | Bus | Self-drive | RutzIndia.com chauffeur cab | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starts from | New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin or Anand Vihar stations | Kashmere Gate or Anand Vihar ISBT | your home | your door, hotel or airport terminal |
| Ends at | Haridwar Junction, a short ride from Har Ki Pauri | Haridwar bus stand, beside the railway station | wherever you find parking | your ashram gate, hotel porch or the ghat parking |
| Journey time | about 4.5 to 5 hrs on the faster trains | about 5 to 7 hrs with halts | about 4.5 hrs plus the parking search | about 4.5 hrs door to door |
| Luggage, puja items, wheelchair | what you can carry on and off | racks and hold | whatever fits | boot sized to the car class you pick |
| Festival dates | seats sell out, waitlists common | crowded, standing passengers | Kanwar and snan-day restrictions apply to you | same restrictions, but the chauffeur knows the diversions |
| How you pay | per ticket | per seat | fuel, tolls, parking, your own driving time | per car: Rs 7,920 Pay Now to Reserve sedan or Rs 12,540 Pay Now to Reserve Innova, split among passengers |
Train. The Delhi–Dehradun line is the backbone here: Shatabdi and Vande Bharat services and several express trains stop at Haridwar Junction, and the faster ones take roughly four and a half hours. For a couple travelling light on an ordinary weekday, a chair-car seat is excellent value. The catch comes at festival time, when tickets vanish weeks ahead, and at the other end, where you still need an autorickshaw to the ghat or ashram. Timetables and running status are on the Indian Railways enquiry site.
Bus. The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation runs ordinary and air-conditioned coaches between Delhi and Haridwar, alongside Uttar Pradesh roadways and private operators. They are frequent and inexpensive, though halts at every major town make them slower. Routes and bookings are on the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation website.
Self-drive. Driving yourself gives freedom, but the last kilometre is the hard part: Har Ki Pauri parking fills early, inner roads close on bathing days, and Kanwar season brings long diversions. After four and a half hours at the wheel, few drivers enjoy hunting for a slot near Bhimgoda.
Chauffeur cab. The cab wins when you are three or more, carrying elders or ritual items, or on a tight schedule. Four adults sharing a sedan pay Rs 1,980 each on the one-way base fare; eight relatives in a Tempo Traveller pay Rs 2,150 each, before GST, tolls and parking, and nobody changes vehicles or carries bags through a station.
Pickup points in Delhi NCR and drop points in Haridwar
We collect from any address in the capital region at the same per-km fare: South Delhi colonies, Connaught Place and the central hotels, Dwarka, Rohini, Pitampura, East Delhi and Shahdara, Ghaziabad and Indirapuram, Noida sectors including Sector 18 and the Expressway societies, and Gurgaon's DLF phases and Golf Course Road. Gurgaon and Dwarka pickups add distance compared with East Delhi, and the fare quote on the booker reflects your actual starting point.
Flying in first? We meet passengers at IGI Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 with a name board and track the flight number, so a late landing simply moves the pickup. Waiting is free for 60 minutes after an international arrival and 30 minutes after a domestic one; beyond that, waiting is billed at the hourly rate. Terminal details are on the Delhi airport website. For a city transfer only, see our Delhi airport taxi page.
In Haridwar the common drop points are Har Ki Pauri parking and Bhimgoda, the ashrams of Kankhal, Shantikunj and the Haridwar–Rishikesh road hotels, Patanjali Yogpeeth on the Roorkee side, SIDCUL industrial area for corporate visitors, and Haridwar railway station. The district administration posts festival traffic and parking advisories on the Haridwar district website, which our dispatch desk checks before busy dates.
Pickup variants: airport terminals, railway stations and hotel districts
Where the journey starts changes the timing and, slightly, the distance. The booker always quotes from your exact start point.
| Pickup | How the pickup works | Timing tip |
|---|---|---|
| IGI Terminal 3 (international and many domestic flights) | chauffeur waits at arrivals with a name board; flight tracked; 60 min free after an international landing | a 7 am landing reaches Haridwar by early afternoon |
| IGI Terminal 1 (domestic) | meet at the arrivals exit; 30 min free waiting | allow for the airport-to-expressway crossing of the city |
| Aerocity hotels | lobby pickup at your chosen time | leave by 5 am to clear the city before the rush |
| New Delhi railway station | meet at the Paharganj or Ajmeri Gate side, as you prefer; share your coach number | station parking billed at actual |
| Hazrat Nizamuddin station | meet at the main exit; the expressway is only minutes away | one of the quickest starts in the city |
| Anand Vihar terminal and ISBT | meet at the exit; already on the east side of Delhi | shortest start for the Meerut expressway |
| Connaught Place, Janpath and Mandi House hotels | porch pickup | 5:30 am start avoids the ITO crawl |
| South Delhi (Saket, Vasant Kunj, Greater Kailash) | door pickup | add 20-30 minutes to reach the expressway |
| Gurgaon (Cyber City, Golf Course Road, Sohna Road) | door pickup | longest crossing of the NCR; start by 4:30 to 5 am |
| Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad | door or society gate pickup | close to the expressway; the easiest start of all |
Travellers landing internationally for a family ritual in Haridwar often ask whether to rest first. If your flight lands at night, the kindest plan for elders is a few hours in an Aerocity hotel and a 5 am start; the chauffeur can collect you from the lobby. Business visitors heading to SIDCUL usually prefer a pickup straight from the terminal.
Which car suits your Haridwar trip
- Two or three adults, light luggage: a compact sedan such as a Dzire is the economical choice and handles the highway easily.
- Parents plus grandparents: an Ertiga or an Innova Crysta on rent gives a higher seat, more legroom and space for a wheelchair or puja items. The Innova is the most-booked car on this route for a reason.
- A shraddh or asthi visarjan party of eight to fifteen: a Tempo Traveller keeps the family together. Our Haridwar tempo traveller page covers local group hire once you arrive.
- Wedding guests heading to a Haridwar or Rishikesh venue: an Urbania or a mix of Innovas and a coach can be coordinated on one invoice.
- Executives visiting SIDCUL plants: a premium sedan or Fortuner, with GST invoices raised to the company.
Every car in the programme is within four model years, air-conditioned, and driven by a chauffeur who knows the Kanwar diversions and the festival parking plans. Luxury requests are handled separately under our luxury car rental service.
Sightseeing add-ons in and around Haridwar
Most visitors combine the ghat with two or three temples. Keep the car for the day and these add-ons are simple. Extra kilometres on a round-trip booking are billed at the class rate; the figures below are the approximate return-distance cost from Har Ki Pauri.
| Add-on | Distance from Har Ki Pauri | Time to allow | Approx. extra, sedan / Innova |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mansa Devi temple (ropeway or footpath up Bilwa Parvat) | in town | 1.5 to 2 hrs | parking only |
| Chandi Devi temple (ropeway up Neel Parvat) | about 4 km | about 2 hrs | Rs 290 / Rs 460 |
| Daksha Mahadev temple and Kankhal ghats | about 4 km | about 1 hr | Rs 290 / Rs 460 |
| Bharat Mata Mandir and the Sapt Rishi ashram belt | about 5 km | about 1 hr | Rs 360 / Rs 570 |
| Shantikunj | about 6 km | about 1 hr | Rs 430 / Rs 680 |
| Rajaji National Park, Chilla gate | about 10 km | half a day for a safari in the open season | Rs 720 / Rs 1,140 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Rishikesh: Ram Jhula and Triveni Ghat | about 25 km | half a day | Rs 1,800 / Rs 2,850 Pay Now to Reserve |
The two hilltop temples are best done early, before the ropeway queues build; on Navratri days waiting times climb sharply. Patanjali Yogpeeth lies on the Roorkee side of the city, so it fits naturally on the drive in or out rather than as a separate trip. Rajaji's Chilla zone is usually open for safaris from mid-November to mid-June, subject to forest department notices.
Sample itineraries with the fare worked out
1. One-day snan and darshan (sedan or Innova). Leave Delhi at 5 am, breakfast near Khatauli, reach Har Ki Pauri around 9:30. Bathe, visit Mansa Devi by ropeway, lunch in the Moti Bazaar lanes, see Daksha Mahadev in Kankhal, and leave at 3 pm to be home by about 8 pm. Distance about 450 km: Rs 16,200 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan or Rs 25,650 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova, before GST, tolls, entry fee and parking.
2. Two days with the Ganga Aarti and Rishikesh. Leave at 7 am, check in by noon, rest, then walk to Har Ki Pauri for the sunset aarti. Day two: Chandi Devi at opening time, a morning in Rishikesh, and back to Delhi by evening. About 500 km, which is also the two-day minimum: Rs 18,000 Pay Now to Reserve by sedan, Rs 28,500 Pay Now to Reserve by Innova, plus one night allowance.
3. Three days: Haridwar, Rishikesh and Mussoorie. Day one Haridwar and the aarti; day two Rishikesh and on to Mussoorie via Dehradun; day three the Mall Road in Mussoorie and the drive home. Roughly 640 km, below the three-day minimum of 750 km, so the base is Rs 27,000 Pay Now to Reserve by sedan, Rs 42,750 Pay Now to Reserve by Innova or Rs 58,500 Pay Now to Reserve by Tempo Traveller, plus two nights' allowance.
Rituals, family priests and the practical side of asthi visarjan
For many Hindu families, Haridwar is where the ashes of a loved one are immersed in the Ganga and where shraddh rites are performed. Har Ki Pauri and Kushavart Ghat are the usual places. Haridwar is also known for its pandas, family priests who keep handwritten genealogy registers going back generations, often organised by the family's native district; many families visit their panda to record a death, a marriage or a birth.
Practical points from our chauffeurs' experience: carry the urn in a sturdy bag and keep it on the seat or in the footwell rather than in the boot; the driver will give you whatever privacy and time you need. Morning rites are calmer before the crowds. If a larger group of relatives is coming, one Tempo Traveller keeps everyone together and the elders need not walk far from the parking. The holy city limits are vegetarian and alcohol-free by local rules, so plan meals accordingly; the highway restaurants before Roorkee serve vegetarian food in any case.
Continue from Haridwar: Rishikesh, Mussoorie and the Char Dham
Rishikesh is only about 25 km up the Ganga. If you plan to visit both towns, book the Delhi to Rishikesh taxi as a round trip and ask for a Haridwar stop on the way; it usually works out cheaper than two separate one-way cabs. Dehradun and Mussoorie are around 55 km and 90 km from Haridwar respectively; our Delhi to Dehradun cab page has the fare for a direct run.
Haridwar is also the traditional starting point for the four shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Hill routes need a vehicle cleared for the yatra and a chauffeur experienced on mountain roads, with state registration formalities handled before departure. Our Char Dham Yatra by car packages cover that, and the wider pilgrimage taxi page lists Vrindavan, Shirdi and other circuits. Tourism information for the state, including shrine opening dates, is on Uttarakhand Tourism.
What your Haridwar fare includes, and what is added at actual
| Item | One-way drop | Round trip or multi-day |
|---|---|---|
| Car, fuel and chauffeur | included for about 220 km | included up to the kilometres billed |
| Driver's waiting time at ghats and temples | not applicable, the car leaves after the drop | included within the trip day |
| 5% GST | added | added |
| Highway and expressway tolls | at actual, FASTag receipts | at actual, both directions |
| Uttarakhand entry fee for outside-registered taxis | at actual | at actual |
| Parking at Har Ki Pauri, ropeway bases or hotels | at actual | at actual |
| Chauffeur night allowance | not applicable | Rs 1,500 per night by vehicle class |
| Extra kilometres | not applicable | billed at the class rate per km |
Two points often surprise first-time travellers. First, on a round trip the car and driver are yours for the whole day, so waiting at Mansa Devi or during a long puja costs nothing extra; what counts is the distance. Second, the chauffeur's food and lodging on an overnight trip come out of the night allowance, so you do not need to find him a room. If your hotel offers a drivers' dormitory, simply tell the chauffeur where it is. Companies sending staff to SIDCUL or to a Haridwar conference receive one consolidated GST invoice listing the base fare, each toll receipt, the entry fee and parking as separate lines, which makes expense approval straightforward for the accounts team and avoids chasing paper receipts later.
Other taxi routes from Delhi
Many Haridwar travellers combine pilgrimages or holidays through the year. Fares for the most-booked corridors from the capital: Delhi to Agra taxi for the Taj Mahal, Delhi to Vrindavan taxi for the Braj temples, Delhi to Jaipur taxi, Delhi to Chandigarh taxi, Delhi to Mussoorie taxi and Delhi to Nainital taxi. For a group of 12 or more starting in the capital, see tempo traveller in Delhi.
How booking, payment and cancellation work
- Enter your pickup address, Haridwar drop point, date and time on the online booker, and choose one way or round trip.
- Pick a vehicle class. The fare shows before GST, with tolls, entry fee and parking listed as at-actual items.
- Pay a part advance by card or UPI; the balance is settled at the end of the trip. Corporate accounts can ask for a GST invoice in the company name.
