Mussoorie is the hill station Delhi escapes to when there is only a weekend to spare. A Delhi to Mussoorie taxi gets you there without the bus-stand scramble, and without you driving the final ghat from Dehradun in Sunday traffic. With RutzIndia.com you pick the car, see the fare built from kilometres, and travel with a chauffeur who knows where Mussoorie's roads narrow, where the parking actually is, and how to time the climb so you do not spend your first evening in a queue at Kincraig.
How much is a Delhi to Mussoorie taxi in 2026?
Fares updated September 2026.
A Delhi to Mussoorie one way taxi is Rs 10,440 Pay Now to Reserve in a Dzire-class sedan (about 290 km at Rs 36/km) and Rs 16,530 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta. A two-day return is billed on 580 km: Rs 20,880 Pay Now to Reserve sedan, Rs 33,060 Pay Now to Reserve Innova. Fares are before 5% GST; tolls and state entry fees are at actual.
The calculation is transparent. One-way drops are kilometres times the per-km rate. Returns are billed on the higher of the actual kilometres or 250 km per calendar day, so a Saturday-to-Sunday trip is priced on the real 580 km, while a three-day long weekend rises to the 750 km floor, which comfortably absorbs a day trip to Dhanaulti or Kempty Falls.
| Vehicle class | Per km | One way (290 km) | 2-day return (580 km) | 3-day return (750 km) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Compact sedan | Rs 36 | Rs 10,440 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 20,880 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 27,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Ertiga / Carens MUV | Rs 42 | Rs 12,180 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 24,360 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 31,500 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Innova Crysta / Hycross | Rs 57.6 | Rs 16,530 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 33,060 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 42,750 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Fortuner / Meridian | Rs 84 | Rs 24,360 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 48,720 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 63,000 Pay Now to Reserve |
| Tempo Traveller (12-16) | Rs 78 | Rs 22,620 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 45,240 Pay Now to Reserve | Rs 58,500 Pay Now to Reserve |
Outside the fare, we charge only what the road charges us: expressway and highway tolls, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand state fees for out-of-state commercial vehicles where collected, and parking in Mussoorie and Dehradun. Each is passed on at the receipted amount. On overnight trips the chauffeur's night allowance is Rs 1,500. All figures are before 5% GST, and you can pay by card or UPI through the booker, with a GST invoice for company travel.

The road to Mussoorie: expressway, Shivaliks and the ghat
Delhi to Roorkee
Most of our Mussoorie runs leave Delhi on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, bypass Meerut and continue on the national highway through Khatauli, Muzaffarnagar and Purqazi into Uttarakhand near Roorkee. It is a good, fast road for most of its length, with the familiar highway food plazas around Khatauli that almost every Dehradun-bound family stops at. From west Delhi, Gurgaon or Sonipat, the chauffeur may choose a route through Baghpat or Shamli towards Saharanpur instead; newer expressway sections on the Delhi-Dehradun corridor have been opening in phases, and we use whichever line is quickest and open on your travel day.
Through the Shivaliks to Dehradun
After Roorkee and Chhutmalpur the road crosses the Shivalik range near Mohand, a forested stretch along the edge of the Rajaji landscape where wildlife crossings are signposted and the pace drops. The Datkali temple sits beside the road near the tunnel on the Dehradun side. You then drop into the Doon valley and cross Dehradun city, which can be slow at school and office hours; the chauffeur skirts the busiest junctions where possible.
Dehradun to Mussoorie ghat
From Rajpur in Dehradun the Mussoorie road climbs about 30 km in tight loops through Kuthal Gate and past Bhatta to Kincraig and the town. It is a well-surfaced but narrow ghat with many blind bends, and on weekends the upper section around Kincraig and Library Chowk can crawl. Our chauffeurs aim to reach the ghat before late morning or after the day-trippers head down in the evening. The usual hill rules apply: uphill traffic has priority, horns at blind corners, low gears downhill, and no overtaking on curves.
Door to door, the drive is typically six to seven hours. Leaving Delhi at 6 am usually means a leisurely breakfast near Khatauli and lunch in Mussoorie.
Stage-by-stage distances, timings and plazas
| Stage | About km | Usual time | Tolls and notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Central Delhi to Meerut on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway | 70 | 1 hr to 1 hr 15 min | expressway toll at the Meerut end (Kashi plaza) |
| Meerut to Roorkee via Khatauli and Muzaffarnagar | 110 | about 2 hrs | Sivaya plaza near Meerut and further highway plazas |
| Roorkee to Dehradun via Chhutmalpur and Mohand | 70 | about 1 hr 30 min | Shivalik forest stretch, slower speeds |
| Dehradun to Mussoorie (Library Chowk) | 35 | 1 hr to 1 hr 15 min | ghat road; weekend queues near Kincraig |
| Delhi to Mussoorie | about 290 | 6 to 7 hrs | tolls and state fees at actual |
Plaza names and charges are revised from time to time, which is why we never bake a toll guess into the fare. The chauffeur pays by FASTag and gives you the receipts at the end.

Places to stop on the way
- Khatauli food plazas - the traditional breakfast halt, roughly two hours out of Delhi.
- Roorkee - the canal town and IIT campus, a good tea stop.
- Datkali temple - a quick prayer stop at the Shivalik crossing.
- Robber's Cave (Guchhupani) and Sahastradhara - Dehradun attractions if you are breaking the journey or spending an extra day in the valley.
- Forest Research Institute, Dehradun - its colonial buildings and lawns make an easy detour.
Mussoorie sightseeing with your own car and chauffeur
On a round trip the car stays with you, which matters in Mussoorie because the sights are spread out and local cabs are expensive in season.
- Mall Road and Library Chowk - the heart of town. Vehicle movement on the Mall is restricted at many hours, so the chauffeur drops you at Library or Picture Palace ends and meets you there.
- Gun Hill - by cable car from the Mall, for Himalayan views on a clear morning.
- Kempty Falls - about 15 km down the Chakrata road, busy in summer.
- Landour - the quiet cantonment above town with Char Dukan, Lal Tibba and old churches; the lanes are narrow and parking is scarce, so the car drops you and waits below.
- George Everest's House (Park Estate) - a ridge-top viewpoint west of town.
- Dhanaulti and Surkanda Devi - roughly 25 to 35 km towards Chamba, with deodar forests, eco-parks and, in winter, snow.
- Company Garden and the Camel's Back Road walk for a gentle afternoon.
Uttarakhand Tourism's official site is a good source for current events and seasonal information, and the Dehradun district portal posts local advisories, including traffic plans for peak weekends.
Peak Mussoorie traffic falls on long weekends, the May-June school holidays, Christmas and New Year, and snowfall weekends in January. Police sometimes regulate vehicle entry to the town on those days, with parking at the edges and shuttles into the centre. Our chauffeurs follow the plan in force and will get you as close to your hotel as the rules allow.

Car, train, bus, flight or self-drive?
| Option | How it works | Right for | Drawbacks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Train to Dehradun + taxi up | fast day trains from New Delhi to Dehradun (see Indian Railways), then about 35 km by road | couples, light luggage | a transfer at Dehradun station, tight seats on holiday weekends |
| Bus | Uttarakhand Transport and private coaches to Dehradun and Mussoorie | solo budget travellers | bus-stand drop at the edge of town, fixed timings |
| Flight to Jolly Grant | short flight to Dehradun airport, then roughly 60 km uphill | time-pressed visitors | airport transfers at both ends, fares vary widely |
| Self-drive | your fuel, tolls, parking and the ghat after a long day | experienced hill drivers | Mussoorie parking is scarce and expensive in season |
| Chauffeur taxi | door to door from Delhi to your hotel's access point | families, groups, seniors | leave early to beat the weekend queues |
Seasons, snow and the monsoon
Mussoorie is pleasant from March to June, when it offers relief from the plains' heat. The monsoon, July to mid-September, is lush but brings landslips on the Dehradun-Mussoorie road and on the way to Kempty and Dhanaulti; drivers watch advisories and travel in daylight. October and November are clear and crisp, with the famous "winter line" sunsets that Mussoorie is known for. Between late December and February, Mussoorie and especially Dhanaulti can see snowfall; on those days an SUV such as a Fortuner, or an Innova Crysta with chains, is the more comfortable choice, and some upper roads may close temporarily.
Who books this route, and how we plan for each
Couples and honeymooners usually want a quiet sedan, an early start and a hotel drop in Landour or on the Kempty road rather than the Mall. Families with children tend to pick an Innova Crysta, schedule two or three stops, and keep one afternoon for Kempty Falls and Company Garden. Corporate offsites from Gurgaon and Noida, which cluster around Mussoorie's larger resorts in spring and autumn, move in Tempo Travellers with a sedan for senior staff, and need a single GST invoice for all vehicles; the travel desk arranges that. Students and school groups heading to the Doon valley's boarding schools or to Landour's language school often combine a Delhi to Dehradun drop with a later Mussoorie leg. Whatever the group, the fare logic never changes: kilometres times the rate, plus receipted tolls and fees.
Pickups in Delhi NCR, drops in Mussoorie and beyond
We pick up from any address in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Faridabad, and from IGI Airport, where the chauffeur tracks your flight, holds a name board and waits 60 minutes free after international arrivals or 30 after domestic, with hourly billing beyond that. Drops cover Mussoorie's Mall area, Library, Kulri, Landour, Happy Valley, Barlowganj, the Kempty road resorts and Dhanaulti. If you would rather fly to Dehradun's Jolly Grant airport and drive the last stretch, our taxi service in Dehradun handles that transfer, and our Delhi to Dehradun taxi route is there if the valley is your destination.
Mussoorie pairs well with other Uttarakhand stops. You can add Rishikesh and Haridwar on the way back through our Delhi to Rishikesh taxi route, or plan a lakes holiday with the Delhi to Nainital taxi. Pilgrims heading higher can build it into a Char Dham yatra by car.

Choosing the right car
A compact sedan is enough for a couple or a small family in summer. An Ertiga stretches the budget for six. The Innova Crysta is the car most families ask for on the Mussoorie ghat because of its torque, cabin space and ride. A Fortuner is ideal in the snow months. For school groups, family reunions or an office offsite, a Tempo Traveller seats 12 to 16; see Tempo Traveller hire in Dehradun for layouts. Every car is within four model years and is checked for brakes and tyres before hill duty.
