How far is Gurgaon from Delhi and the airport, and what does a chauffeur-driven cab cost?
Gurgaon's Cyber City is about 15 km from IGI Airport and roughly 30 km from Connaught Place, typically 45 to 75 minutes by car on NH48. A chauffeur-driven sedan transfer costs Rs 3,960 Pay Now to Reserve and an Innova Crysta Rs 6,930 Pay Now to Reserve, before 5% GST; an 8 hr / 80 km local hire starts at Rs 7,200 Pay Now to Reserve.
Officially Gurugram since 2016, but still Gurgaon to almost everyone who lives or works there, this is the NCR city that grew fastest and planned least. Its offices, hotels and restaurants are world-class; its roads can be baffling, with sector numbers that jump, service lanes that end abruptly and U-turns a kilometre past where you wanted to turn. That is precisely why so many visitors, from first-time business travellers to NRI families flying in for a wedding, prefer a chauffeur who drives these roads every day.
RutzIndia.com keeps sedans, Innovas and luxury cars on call across Gurgaon for airport runs, meeting-heavy days, weddings and the short, green getaways that sit just beyond the city limits. This guide covers the road network, the fares, what is worth seeing and how to plan anything from a four-hour errand to a weekend in the Aravallis. If you already have dates, book online and pay by card or UPI.

Who this guide is for
- Business travellers landing at IGI for meetings in Cyber City, Golf Course Road, Udyog Vihar, Sohna Road or Manesar, who want one car and one driver for the whole day.
- Wedding families hosting or attending functions at Gurgaon hotels and the farm venues along Sohna Road and the Faridabad road, who need decorated cars and guest shuttles.
- NRIs and expatriates visiting relatives in the newer sectors along the Dwarka Expressway and Golf Course Extension Road.
- Weekend escapers based in Delhi who want lakes, birds and heritage within 60 to 100 km, without driving themselves.
Getting around: the roads that matter
NH48 (the Delhi-Jaipur highway) is Gurgaon's spine. From IGI it runs south past Shiv Murti and the Delhi border, through the Cyber City and Rajiv Chowk interchanges and on to Kherki Daula toll plaza and Manesar. Elevated sections and underpasses have removed most of the old signals, but the stretch near the border still bottlenecks at office hours.
The Dwarka Expressway, opened in stages and now carrying heavy traffic, links Dwarka and the airport area to the new sectors west of the old city and meets NH48 near Kherki Daula. For addresses in Sectors 99 to 113 it can save 20 minutes compared with the older routes.
MG Road and the Mehrauli-Gurgaon road connect South Delhi's Chhatarpur and Qutub area to Gurgaon, entering past the Aravalli ridge and the Sikanderpur metro interchange. It is the natural route from Saket, Vasant Kunj or the Chhatarpur farmhouse belt.
Golf Course Road and Golf Course Extension Road run south from the metro line past DLF's residential phases and the city's tallest towers towards Sohna Road. Sohna Road itself continues south to the old hot-spring town of Sohna and the start of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
Weekday peaks are roughly 8:30 to 11 am inbound and 6 to 9 pm outbound. The Delhi Metro Yellow Line and the Rapid Metro loop serve the centre, but most offices, hotels and venues are a drive from the nearest station. The district administration website posts official notices on road closures and major events.

What to see and do in and around Gurgaon
Gurgaon is not a sightseeing city in the classic sense, but it has more than most visitors expect.
- Cyber Hub and the Golf Course Road dining strip. The obvious evening out, with restaurants and bars that draw people from across the NCR. Your driver drops you at the entry plaza and waits in the paid parking.
- Aravalli Biodiversity Park. Former mining land on the ridge, restored with native scrub and trees, with walking trails near the MG Road side. Early morning is best.
- Leisure Valley. A long green park in the middle of the city, pleasant for a walk between meetings.
- Sheetla Mata Mandir. An old and very busy temple in Gurgaon village, especially crowded during the Chaitra Navratri fair in spring.
- Heritage Transport Museum, Taoru. A privately run museum of India's transport history, from palanquins and bullock carts to vintage cars and a rail carriage, about 45 km south of Cyber City. Check days and timings on the museum website before you go.
- Sultanpur National Park. A wetland famous for winter birds, about 15 km west of the city. Our Sultanpur by road guide explains the best months and gate timings.
- Damdama Lake. An Aravalli lake with resorts and boating, about 25 km south; see Damdama Lake by road.
Haryana's official tourism portal lists state-run tourist complexes and events across the region, including around Sohna and Damdama.
Weekend and day drives starting from Gurgaon
Because Gurgaon sits on NH48, it is the most convenient NCR base for Rajasthan. Neemrana's hilltop fort-palace is roughly 95 km away, typically under two hours; our Neemrana by road guide covers the drive. Alwar and Sariska are about three hours. Jaipur is around 240 km, four to five hours on a normal day, and the Delhi to Jaipur taxi page explains fares if you start further north. The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which begins near Sohna, opens up quick runs towards Dausa and Ranthambore.

Best time to visit and seasonal notes
October to March is the pleasant season, with warm days and cool evenings, although December and January bring dense morning fog and November often brings smog. Summers are harsh, commonly above 40 degrees from late April to June, and the monsoon (July to September) can flood low underpasses and service roads for a few hours after a heavy downpour. Chauffeurs plan around the known trouble spots.
The wedding season, roughly November to February with peaks on auspicious dates, fills every hotel ballroom and farm venue; book cars for those dates weeks ahead. Diwali week and the year-end party season bring heavy evening traffic around Cyber Hub and the malls on MG Road.

A sample weekend in and around Gurgaon by car
Saturday (about 90 km). Leave at 7 am in winter for Sultanpur's wetland while the birds are feeding, return for brunch, then an afternoon at the Heritage Transport Museum near Taoru. Evening at Cyber Hub.
Sunday (about 70 km). Drive south on Sohna Road to Damdama Lake for a lakeside lunch and a short Aravalli walk, stop at Sohna on the way back, and finish with a quiet walk in the Aravalli Biodiversity Park before sunset.
Monday option (about 480 km return). A full day to Jaipur and back is long but doable with an early start; most families prefer to stay a night. If you are also visiting relatives across the river, our Noida and Greater Noida by road guide explains the cross-NCR run.
Practical tips for Gurgaon
- Share the tower and gate. Condominiums on Golf Course Road and the Dwarka Expressway have multiple gates and strict visitor entry; send the driver the exact tower and gate.
- Airport pickups: after landing, go to the designated pickup lane for pre-booked cars at your terminal; your chauffeur will message you the pillar number.
- Parking at malls, Cyber Hub and hotels is paid and passed on at cost.
- Border traffic: the Delhi-Gurgaon border on NH48 slows sharply at office hours, so schedule meetings across the border with a buffer.
- Heat and fog: in May and June, travel early and carry water; in January, allow extra time for morning flights.
- Manesar and beyond: the industrial belt and the resort cluster past Kherki Daula are outside the city grid, so a meeting there plus a Cyber City dinner fits comfortably inside a 12 hour hire rather than two separate bookings.
- Mixing metro and car: if you are staying near a Rapid Metro station, some travellers ride the metro to a single meeting and keep the car for the rest of the day. Tell the desk and we will set the pickup at the station exit you name.
