Neemrana is Delhi's favourite quick escape into Rajasthan. The town sits just across the Haryana border on the Delhi-Jaipur highway, and above it a fort built in the fifteenth century climbs the side of an Aravalli hill in terraces, courtyards and hanging gardens. Since its restoration as a heritage hotel, the Neemrana Fort-Palace has hosted weekend breaks, corporate offsites and a great many weddings. Going to Neemrana by road with a chauffeur means no parking stress on the busy NH-48 and a driver who can wait while you lunch or return for you on Sunday afternoon. This page covers the drive from Delhi and Gurgaon, the 2026 RutzIndia.com fares from sedan to luxury SUV, when to go, the wedding logistics, and a relaxed two-day plan with Alwar and Sariska.
How far is Neemrana from Delhi, and what does a cab cost?
Neemrana is about 125 km from central Delhi and roughly 100 km from Gurgaon, typically 2.5 hours on NH-48. A one-way Dzire-class sedan costs Rs 4,500 Pay Now to Reserve, an Innova Crysta Rs 7,130 Pay Now to Reserve and a Mercedes E-Class Rs 20,640 Pay Now to Reserve, the minimum fare for that class. A same-day round trip is billed on 250 km: Rs 9,000 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan. All fares are before 5% GST.
Outstation fares are per kilometre: Rs 36 for a sedan, Rs 57.6 for an Innova, Rs 170 for an E-Class, Rs 230 for a luxury SUV such as a GLS or Range Rover, and Rs 78 for a Tempo Traveller. A round trip is billed on the greater of actual distance or 250 km per calendar day, so a Delhi-Neemrana-Delhi day trip is 250 km, and a Saturday-to-Sunday weekend is 500 km. Tolls on NH-48 (there are several between Gurgaon and Shahjahanpur) and any parking are added exactly as paid. Starting from the city, you can also use our Delhi taxi service or Gurgaon taxi service for airport runs before or after the trip.

What to do at Neemrana
The Fort-Palace
Built in 1464 by descendants of Prithviraj Chauhan, the fort was the seat of the Chauhan chiefs of Neemrana until the twentieth century. By the 1980s it was a ruin; a long restoration turned it into one of India's earliest heritage hotels. Today it rises over fourteen levels, with rooms named after former residents, courtyards, a hanging garden, an amphitheatre and a pool with views across the plain. Access is generally for resident guests, and day visits or meal bookings depend on the property's current policy, so check directly with Neemrana Hotels before you set out.
The Neemrana baori
In the town below the fort is an eighteenth-century stepwell that descends many storeys into the ground. It is less polished than the fort but atmospheric, and a short drive or walk from the main road. Go in daylight, watch your footing and do not venture into closed sections.
Around Neemrana
Neemrana is also an industrial town with a large Japanese investment zone, so business travellers visiting factories often combine work with a night at the fort. Further afield, Alwar, Siliserh lake and Sariska are within 80 km, and the ruined town of Bhangarh a little beyond. Our Alwar and Sariska by road guide covers that side of the district.
The drive: Delhi and Gurgaon to Neemrana on NH-48
The route is the old Delhi-Jaipur highway, NH-48, maintained by the National Highways Authority of India.
- Delhi to Gurgaon. From South Delhi, Dhaula Kuan and the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway lead past IGI airport to Gurgaon. Weekday mornings (8-11 am) and evenings (5-9 pm) are heavily congested; leave early or late.
- Gurgaon to Manesar and Dharuhera. A wide expressway-style section with flyovers. Trucks dominate at night.
- Dharuhera to Behror. The highway continues south through Haryana's industrial belt. Behror has several large highway restaurant complexes, useful for a tea stop.
- Shahjahanpur border and Neemrana. Just past the Haryana-Rajasthan border at Shahjahanpur, the turn-off for Neemrana town and the fort is on the right. The last stretch up to the fort gate is narrow.
Typical time is 2.5 hours from Delhi and just under two from Gurgaon, but Friday evening departures can take far longer. We usually suggest a Saturday 8 am start. If you are going further to Jaipur the same trip, the Delhi to Jaipur taxi route continues on the same highway for another 155 km or so.

When to go: seasons, weekends and wedding dates
- October to March is the prime season. Days are sunny, nights crisp, and sitting in the fort's courtyards is a pleasure. Winter weekends and the Christmas-New Year week book out early.
- Wedding season (November to February) fills the fort and nearby resorts; if you are a guest, reserve your car when you receive the invitation, not the week before.
- April to June is hot, though the fort's thick walls and pool help. Travel in the cool of the morning.
- Monsoon (July to September) brings green hills and dramatic skies, with occasional waterlogging on service lanes.
- Diwali and Holi long weekends see heavy highway traffic out of Delhi.
The state Rajasthan tourism website covers other heritage attractions in the region if you want to extend the trip.

A two-day plan: Neemrana, Alwar and Sariska
Day 1: Delhi to Neemrana (about 130 km). Leave Delhi at 8 am, pause at Behror for breakfast and reach Neemrana by 11. After check-in, explore the fort's terraces and gardens, then visit the town stepwell in the late afternoon. Watch the sunset from the ramparts and have dinner at the fort or a nearby resort.
Day 2: Alwar and Sariska loop, then home (about 330 km). Drive about 80 km to Alwar for the City Palace and Bala Qila views, stop at Siliserh lake for lunch, and continue to the Sariska gate if you have booked an afternoon safari. Return to Delhi via Alwar and the Delhi-Alwar road in the evening.
This plan is billed as a two-day round trip on actual kilometres if over 500 km, otherwise at 500 km: Rs 18,000 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan or Rs 28,500 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova, plus the night allowance, tolls, parking and GST.
Practical tips for Neemrana
- Stairs and levels. The fort is built on many levels with steep stone stairs and few lifts; mention elderly guests when booking rooms.
- Parking. Space at the gate is limited on wedding days. Chauffeurs drop guests and park in designated areas below.
- Dress code. Relaxed, but bring warm clothes in winter; stone buildings get cold at night, and the ramparts can be windy after dark even when the afternoon felt warm.
- Traffic. Avoid starting from Delhi or Gurgaon on Friday evenings; Sunday afternoon returns are also slow near Kherki Daula and Rajokri.
- Food on the way. Behror's highway food courts are the most dependable stop, with clean washrooms and space for larger vehicles to park.
- Groups. For a family weekend of ten or more, one Tempo Traveller is usually cheaper and more sociable than three sedans.
Planning a wedding or offsite at Neemrana: transport checklist
Neemrana's size and distance from Delhi make transport the part of an event that goes wrong most often, usually because guests arrive at different times and hotels are scattered along the highway. A little planning avoids that.
- Count arrivals, not guests. Group guests by flight, train or starting point in Delhi and Gurgaon. One airport pickup per flight cluster is more efficient than one car per family.
- Decide the shuttle pattern. If some guests stay in resorts near Behror or Shahjahanpur, run a Tempo Traveller loop between those hotels and the fort at fixed times for each function.
- Reserve the couple's car separately. A decorated E-Class, luxury SUV or, on request, a Rolls-Royce should be booked for the baraat and departure with buffer time on either side.
- Share a single contact. Give our desk one coordinator's name for last-minute changes; we WhatsApp the desk updates to that person.
- Plan the return. The day after a wedding, everyone wants to leave at once. Stagger checkouts so cars can do two runs to IGI if needed.
For corporate offsites, the same principles apply, with the added benefit of consolidated GST invoicing across all cars. Our corporate car rental service handles recurring company travel if the offsite becomes an annual event, and senior guests from abroad can be met with the airport taxi service at IGI.
