Lucknow is one of our more affordable cities: local and airport fares are about eight per cent below the national base. The rate card below is what the booker charges for each class.

Fares are before 5% GST. Expressway tolls, parking and any state permit are charged at actual cost. On trips with an overnight stay, add the driver night allowance of Rs 1,500 per night; round trips carry a minimum of 250 km per calendar day. Amausi airport and Charbagh station transfers

Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport sits at Amausi on the Kanpur Road, on the southern edge of the city. The terminal area is close to Alambagh and Sushant Golf City, while Gomti Nagar and Indira Nagar are on the far side of the river, so drive times vary more than distances suggest. The driver follows your flight, waits in the arrivals hall with a name board, and gives you 30 minutes of free waiting after domestic arrivals and 60 minutes after international ones, which matters for the Gulf flights that land in the small hours. Waiting after that is billed at the hourly rate.

Charbagh, the red-and-white Indo-Saracenic station, and the adjoining Lucknow Junction handle most long-distance trains; Gomti Nagar station has become the alternative for several services to the east. Drivers use the official pickup lanes at each.

Lucknow by the hour: local packages that fit real days

A 4 hour / 40 km booking handles a focused errand: a visit to the High Court bench in Gomti Nagar, SGPGI for a follow-up appointment, or a morning of wedding shopping in Aminabad and Chowk. The 8 hour / 80 km package is the default for visiting executives and for families with a list of calls to make across town.

A few things we tell every first-time customer in Lucknow:

• Old city traffic. Chowk, Aminabad and the lanes around Akbari Gate are slow at any hour and slowest after 5 pm. The driver will drop you at the edge and wait in a legal spot.
• Shaheed Path is your friend. The elevated ring route links the airport side with Gomti Nagar Extension and usually saves 20 minutes over city roads.
• Gomti Nagar evenings. Around Phoenix Palassio, the Ambedkar Park stretch and Patrakarpuram, traffic builds from 6 pm onwards.
• VIP movements. Roads around Vidhan Sabha Marg and Kalidas Marg close at short notice for state functions. Build a margin for morning appointments in Hazratganj.
• Parking at hospitals. SGPGI, KGMU and Medanta have paid lots; the fee is added at actual cost.

Nawabi Lucknow in a day: a sightseeing loop

If you have one day to see the city, this loop keeps you ahead of the heat and the traffic and fits inside an 8 hour / 80 km package.

1. 8:30 am, Bara Imambara and the Bhool Bhulaiya. Built in the 1780s, with a labyrinth on the upper floors; hire an authorised guide at the gate.
2. 10:30 am, Rumi Darwaza, the Clock Tower and Chhota Imambara. All within a short stretch of the Husainabad road.
3. 12:00 pm, The Residency. Ruins from the 1857 siege set in a garden, with a small museum.
4. 1:30 pm, Lunch in Aminabad or Chowk. The kebab and kulcha nihari shops are the draw.
5. 3:30 pm, Ambedkar Memorial Park in Gomti Nagar. Vast sandstone plazas; at its best near sunset.
6. 5:30 pm, Hazratganj. Walk the restored shopping promenade, take tea, pick up chikankari.
7. 7:30 pm, Drop at your hotel.

Outstation cabs from Lucknow on the new expressways

Lucknow is now the hub of several access-controlled expressways, which makes long drives faster and more comfortable than they were a few years ago. Outstation fares are kilometres multiplied by the per-km rate. One-way drops are billed on the actual one-way distance; round trips on the higher of actual kilometres or 250 km per day. Worked example: Ayodhya darshan in a day. The return trip is about 270 km, which is above the 250 km daily minimum, so a sedan costs 270 x Rs 36 = Rs 9,720 Pay Now to Reserve and an Innova Crysta 270 x Rs 57.6 = Rs 15,390 Pay Now to Reserve, before GST and tolls. Start by 6 am to beat queues at the Ram Janmabhoomi temple and be back in Lucknow by evening.

Worked example: Varanasi over two days. A round trip covers about 640 km, above the 500 km two-day minimum: Rs 23,040 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan or Rs 36,480 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova, plus one night of driver allowance. Seasons, festivals and busy dates

• Wedding season (November to February, especially the auspicious lagan dates). Guest shuttles and baraat cars book out early; confirm at least three weeks ahead.
• Deepotsav in Ayodhya (Diwali eve). Enormous crowds and traffic diversions. Expect long parking walks and very early starts.
• Magh Mela at Prayagraj (January-February). Pilgrim traffic on the Prayagraj road peaks on the main snan dates.
• Muharram and Eid. Processions through the old city close roads around the Imambaras for several hours.
• Lucknow Mahotsav (late November to December). Evening traffic heavy near the festival grounds.
• Winter fog (late December to January). Expressway speeds drop sharply in dense fog. Our drivers slow down, keep hazard lights on and, if visibility is dangerous, wait it out. Plan early-morning drives with buffer time.
• Summer (April to June). Heat above 40°C; start outstation drives at dawn.

Lucknow cab rate per km in 2026

Fares updated September 2026. Journeys out of Lucknow are charged by the kilometre, and the rate depends only on the vehicle. We do not add festival surcharges for Deepotsav or the lagan season; the rate you see is the rate you pay, with tolls and parking passed on at actual cost. The three example columns show typical one-way costs to a nearby pilgrim town, to Ayodhya and to the Kumaon hills.

Worked through: a sedan to Naimisharanya one way (95 km) is billed at the minimum fare of Rs 3,630 Pay Now to Reserve. If you want the car to wait and bring you back the same day, the return trip is about 190 km, below the 250 km daily floor, so it is billed as 250 km, Rs 9,000 Pay Now to Reserve. A four-day Nainital and Corbett holiday in an Innova of about 900 km is compared with the 1,000 km minimum (4 x 250), and billed at the higher figure, Rs 57,000 Pay Now to Reserve, plus three nights of driver allowance.

Four, eight and twelve hour taxi packages in Lucknow

Lucknow's hospitals, courts and wedding lawns produce long days, so alongside the familiar 4 and 8 hour slabs we offer a 12 hour / 120 km package, priced at one and a half times the 8 hour fare plus 40 km at the per-km rate. It is designed for the day that begins with an early SGPGI appointment and ends with a family dinner in Gomti Nagar, or for the wedding where the car is needed from the haldi to the vidaai.

These prices are before 5% GST. Time and distance are counted from your pickup to your final drop. Kilometres over the allowance cost the per-km rate in the last column; extra hours are billed at the hourly rate the booker shows before you confirm. Charbagh, Lucknow Junction, Gomti Nagar and bus station transfers

Station and bus terminal pickups within 40 km are billed at the transfer slab: Rs 3,630 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan, Rs 4,560 Pay Now to Reserve in an Ertiga and Rs 6,390 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta.

Charbagh and Lucknow Junction share a forecourt area but have separate entrances; tell us your train and coach so the driver waits at the right side. The morning Shatabdi and Tejas arrivals from Delhi create a short rush around 10 am to 11 am, and the evening trains a second one after 10 pm.

These routes are requested often from Lucknow; fares are distance times the rate (never below the minimum fare), with the round trip calculated on the higher of actual kilometres or 250 km per day.

Most families heading to Ayodhya go and return in a day; if you want to stay for the evening aarti on the Saryu, a one-night trip is billed on the 500 km two-day minimum. Which cab is cheaper in Lucknow?

For a single short ride in the city, e-rickshaws, autos and app cabs are cheaper than any pre-booked car, and they are fine for a quick hop to Hazratganj. A pre-booked chauffeur becomes the better value when time, waiting or distance matters.

The deciding factor for most families is waiting. A hospital visit or a court hearing can mean hours of waiting between appointments; with a package the driver waits as part of the fare, and your bags and paperwork stay safely in the car.

Hospital, court and government visits

A large share of our Lucknow bookings are practical rather than touristic, so we plan them carefully:

• SGPGI (Raebareli Road). Out-patient registration starts early; we suggest a pickup that reaches the gate by 7:30 am. Parking is paid and added at actual cost.
• KGMU and the Trauma Centre (Chowk side). Traffic around Medical College crossing is heavy all day; the driver drops at the gate and parks nearby.
• Medanta and the Cancer Institute (CG City). Easier access off Shaheed Path; allow extra time for evening traffic.
• High Court, Gomti Nagar bench. Security checks at the gate; lawyers and litigants often book the 8 hour package so the car is ready whenever the matter is heard.
• Secretariat and Vidhan Bhawan. Roads close for VIP movements; the driver will keep you updated and use alternate approaches through Hazratganj.
• Passport Seva Kendra and RTO visits. Short, predictable trips well suited to the 4 hour package.

A second day in Lucknow: gardens, craft and food

If you have a second day, slow down. Start at the Dilkusha Kothi ruins and the Sikandar Bagh garden near the National Botanical Research Institute, both quiet in the morning. Mid-morning is the best time to visit a chikankari workshop in Chowk, where you can watch the hand embroidery that the city is known for and buy directly. After lunch, the State Museum in the zoo grounds at Banarasi Bagh has sculpture and coin galleries, and the Janeshwar Mishra Park in Gomti Nagar is one of the largest urban parks in Asia, good for an evening walk or cycling with children. End with an evening food trail: kebabs in Aminabad, kulfi faluda near Chowk and malai makhan in winter mornings if you are still in town. All of this fits a 4 hour package in the morning and another in the evening, or one 12 hour package if you prefer to keep the same car and driver for the whole day.
