Indore is a commercial city with a pilgrim's hinterland. On a Monday the cars are ferrying pharma buyers to Pithampur and bankers to Vijay Nagar; on a Saturday the same cars are climbing towards Ujjain before dawn for the Mahakal Bhasma Aarti or winding down to the Narmada at Omkareshwar. Indore taxi price list for 2026

Indore has the lowest city multiplier on our rate card: local and airport fares are about ten per cent below the national base. Outstation per-km rates are the same everywhere.

The rates above do not include 5% GST. Road tolls, temple and city parking, and any interstate permit are settled at actual cost and itemised. If the trip includes a night away, the chauffeur's allowance is between Rs 900 and Rs 1,800 per night, and multi-day round trips carry a minimum billing of 250 km per calendar day.

Devi Ahilyabai Holkar airport and Indore Junction transfers

Indore's airport lies on the western edge of the city, close to the Super Corridor, and is one of the more convenient airports in India: the old city and Rajwada are roughly 8 to 10 km away and even Vijay Nagar is usually within half an hour. The driver tracks the flight, meets you at arrivals holding a name board, and allows 30 minutes of free waiting after a domestic landing or 60 minutes after an international arrival. Beyond that, time is billed at the hourly rate.

Indore Junction sits in the middle of the city near Sarwate bus stand; Laxmibai Nagar handles some trains too. For Ujjain-bound pilgrims arriving by train, we can pick up at Indore and drive straight on.

City hire for business and family days

Indore's business life is spread along the AB Road corridor, Vijay Nagar's office towers, the Super Corridor IT campuses, and the factories of Pithampur and Sanwer Road. An 8 hour / 80 km package at Rs 6,480 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan is usually enough for a visiting manager to cover three meetings and a factory visit. Companies with repeated travel can move to monthly billing and GST invoices in their name through corporate car rental, and shift transport for staff is covered by employee transport services.

Driving notes our desk shares with first-time visitors:

• Peak traffic builds on AB Road, the Palasia and Geeta Bhawan squares, and around Vijay Nagar between 9:30 and 11 am and from 6 to 8:30 pm.
• Rajwada and the old bazaars are crowded and narrow; the driver drops you near Rajwada or Sarafa and waits at a paid lot.
• Night food trips. Sarafa's night food market starts after the jewellery shops close, typically late evening, while Chappan Dukan in New Palasia buzzes most of the day. Both are pedestrian areas; the car waits nearby.
• Cleanliness rules. Indore takes its civic cleanliness seriously, and littering from vehicles attracts fines. Drivers carry a small bin bag; please use it.

A one-day Indore and Ujjain itinerary

Many visitors combine the city's sights with the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. This plan starts early and is billed as an outstation day because it crosses 80 km; see the fare example further down.

1. 4:00 am (optional), Bhasma Aarti at Mahakaleshwar. Entry needs advance online booking and a dress code; the official Shri Mahakaleshwar temple site lists slots. If you skip it, leave Indore at 7 am instead.
2. 8:30 am, Mahakal Lok and Harsiddhi temple. Walk the corridor, then the Shakti Peeth nearby.
3. 10:30 am, Kal Bhairav and Ram Ghat. A short drive; the ghats on the Shipra are calm in the morning.
4. 1:00 pm, Lunch and return to Indore. About 55 km, typically an hour and a quarter.
5. 3:30 pm, Lal Bagh Palace. The Holkar-era palace and gardens (check weekly closures).
6. 5:30 pm, Rajwada and Kanch Mandir. The seven-storey palace facade and the mirror-work Jain temple.
7. 8:30 pm, Sarafa night market. Garadu, bhutte ka kees and jalebi, then a drop home.

Outstation cabs from Indore: Jyotirlingas, forts and the Narmada

Indore is the gateway to two of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Mahakaleshwar at Ujjain and Omkareshwar on the Narmada, and to the ruined romance of Mandu and the ghats of Maheshwar. Fares are simply the kilometres multiplied by the per-km rate; round trips are billed on the higher of real distance or 250 km per calendar day. Worked example: Two Jyotirlingas in two days. Rather than rushing both temples in one day, many families stay a night at Omkareshwar. Indore to Ujjain, Ujjain to Omkareshwar and back to Indore adds up to roughly 270 km, but over two days the minimum is 500 km, so a sedan is billed Rs 18,000 Pay Now to Reserve and an Innova Rs 28,500 Pay Now to Reserve, plus one night of driver allowance. Doing it in one long day instead costs Rs 9,720 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan (270 km), and the Omkareshwar temple trust site will help you time darshan.

Worked example: Mandu and Maheshwar. Mandu's Jahaz Mahal and Rani Roopmati's pavilion, then the Ahilya Fort and weavers of Maheshwar, make a full day of roughly 250 km, billed at the day minimum: Rs 9,000 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan or Rs 14,250 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova. The ghat road into Mandu is steep in places, and drivers take it slowly, especially in the monsoon when the plateau is at its greenest.

Festivals and busy seasons around Indore

• Rangpanchami (five days after Holi). Indore's famous Gair procession fills the streets around Rajwada with colour and water cannons. Roads close for most of the day; plan airport trips around it.
• Mahashivratri and Shravan Mondays (July-August). Ujjain and Omkareshwar see enormous crowds; vehicles are parked far from the temples and shuttles run the last stretch. Leave well before dawn.
• Navratri and Diwali. Late-night garba events and heavy shopping traffic in the old city and Palasia.
• Ganesh Chaturthi. Khajrana Ganesh temple draws big queues.
• Simhastha, Ujjain (2028). The twelve-yearly Kumbh on the Shipra will bring very large crowds to the region; large groups should plan transport early.
• Monsoon (July to September). Patalpani and Tincha falls and the Mandu plateau are at their best, but ghat roads are slippery.

Indore taxi rate per km by car, 2026

Fares updated September 2026. Outside the city, you pay per kilometre according to the car class. The rates are the same across India, and we do not add surcharges for Shravan, Mahashivratri or long weekends. The right-hand columns show the one-way cost to Ujjain, to the Narmada ghats at Maheshwar and to the state capital, Bhopal.

For a one-way drop, multiply the distance by the rate (the minimum fare is the floor): Indore to Bhopal in an Innova Crysta is 195 x Rs 57.6 = Rs 11,110 Pay Now to Reserve. For a return trip, the bill uses the higher of real kilometres or 250 km for each calendar day. So a relaxed three-day Narmada circuit through Omkareshwar, Maheshwar and Mandu, perhaps 450 km in total, is billed on 750 km: Rs 27,000 Pay Now to Reserve in a sedan or Rs 42,750 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova, plus two nights of driver allowance.

4, 8 and 12 hour packages in Indore

Indore's working days are long, and so are its pilgrim days. The 12 hour / 120 km package covers a Pithampur plant visit followed by dinner meetings on AB Road, or an early morning at Khajrana Ganesh followed by a full day of family visits across the city. Its price is worked out openly: 1.5 times the Indore 8 hour fare, plus 40 km at that car's outstation rate, rounded to Rs 30.

All slabs exclude 5% GST. They run from your pickup to your final drop. Kilometres beyond the slab are charged at the rate in the last column, and time beyond the slab at the hourly rate the booker shows before you pay. Railway stations and bus stands

Indore's stations and bus terminals are close together in the middle of the city. Pickups within 40 km use the transfer slab: a compact sedan Rs 3,570 Pay Now to Reserve, an Ertiga Rs 4,470 Pay Now to Reserve, an Innova Crysta Rs 6,240 Pay Now to Reserve.

Mandu and Maheshwar by car: what to see on the day

The Mandu and Maheshwar loop is the finest non-pilgrim day out from Indore, and it rewards a little planning.

Getting there. Leave Indore by 7 am on the Dhar road. The last stretch climbs onto the Mandu plateau through a series of old gateways; the driver takes it slowly, as the road is narrow in places and busy with weekend visitors in the monsoon.

Mandu. Start with the Royal Enclave, where the Jahaz Mahal stands between two artificial lakes and appears to float in the rainy season. Hoshang Shah's tomb, a white marble mausoleum, is often described as an early inspiration for later Mughal tomb architecture. Rani Roopmati's pavilion, on the southern edge of the plateau, looks out over the Narmada plains and is the traditional place to end a Mandu visit. Distances within Mandu are short, and the driver moves you between the groups of monuments so you are not walking in the midday heat.

Maheshwar. From Mandu, the road drops to the Narmada at Maheshwar, where Ahilyabai Holkar's fort and the long flight of ghats face the river. The handloom workshops in the fort area produce the Maheshwari saree; visitors are usually welcome to watch the weaving. A short boat ride at sunset is the classic finish.

Getting back. The return to Indore takes about two and a half hours. The whole day covers roughly 250 km and is billed as a same-day round trip on the day minimum, Rs 9,000 Pay Now to Reserve in a compact sedan or Rs 14,250 Pay Now to Reserve in an Innova Crysta, before GST and parking.

Auto, magic, app cab or a chauffeur in Indore?

Indore has a busy mix of transport: autos and the shared vans locals call magic, city buses and the BRTS corridor on AB Road, app-based cabs, and pre-booked chauffeur cars. Each has its place.

The pre-dawn Ujjain run for the Bhasma Aarti is the clearest example. A 3 am pickup is hard to arrange at short notice, and you want the same car waiting for you after darshan; that is where a pre-booked car earns its fare.

• Pithampur plant visits. About 30 km from the airport and within the transfer slab; for a full day at the plant, the 8 hour package keeps the car on call.
